Great effects and great characters. They were a little to quickly put thru their paces. The director did not havve faith that they would be interesting with out effects and action. Settings and plot ponts differed from the book and some of the myths were lost as well as the educational valu. Well worth seeing, but not a strong start to a "franchise" considering the popularity of the book series.

This movie was good for the th 10-12 year old children. My 10 year old had read the book and was disappointed in some of the details being left out and the change of who stole the lightning bolt but still enjoyed the movie. My 12 year old can't wait until the movie is available for purchase on DVD. My 17 year old did not care for the unrealistic sword fighting and the changes to Greek mythology portrayed in the movie.

I have a 10yr son who has read every book 3X. This movie butchered the book. They left out key characters, add stuff for another book that made him very upset. Now having seen the movie I have to agree with him. The series is consuming and full of adventure.. The movie didn't come close in connecting us with the characters or even endearing them to us. Wondering why Mr. Riordan would let them ruin a potentially epic series.

I haven't read any of the Percy Jackson's books so I did not have that as a reference before viewing this film. The movie started out good, dragged in the middle and fell off totally during the end. Anyone that knows Greek Mythology and enjoys movies and books on the subject will enjoy this movie. If you have little to no knowledge of Greek Mythology you may find yourself lost when they speak of other gods and demigods. I went with a few people who’s knowledge on the subject varied quiet a lot those of us that have a formal education in Greek Mythology found it very easy to follow the story line and enjoy the movie the most. Those that did not had a formal education on the topic found it harder to follow the story line but still enjoyed the movie. If you are a reader and enjoy mythology check out books written by Thomas Bulfinch his biggest collection is called Bulfinch Mythology.

I'm a teacher and have read the entire Percy Jackson series. I went into the movie very open-minded, already hearing that it was not like the book in many instances. Even still, I was disappointed by how far it deviated from the story. Plot, characters, so much was wrong. Even the identity of the "lightning thief" was wrong! Now, for those not familiar with the novels, it is a decent action film. I liked the visual effects and the realism of the creatures like the centaurs and satyrs. Overall, not a bad film, but as a book-to-movie conversion, it was poor and definitely not one I will be adding to my home collection.

The movie was good. It felt like Clash of the Titans meets Harry Potter with a touch of Narnia thrown in.
Decent acting. The flow of the movie could have been better, there were parts that dragged as the story was trying to be developed. Worth seeing on a matinee...not sure I would have been as happy paying full price for it though.

Perfect for elementary and middle school children. There was a lot of entertaining moments during the movie; however, it didn't really follow the story line from the book. Movies rarely live up to the expectations set for them by the book. No bad language, no sexuality. Good movie of good vs. evil. A couple of scary scenes God of Hades & Medusa. Harry Potter type movie. My 12 year old loved this movie. and I was happy to go and enjoyed it myself.

Great graphics, very very very action packed. I read the books...it was different from the books but still very good. A+ . I would recommend that because of the monsters and graphics that kids should be 12 to see this movie. Monsters were a little scarier than Harry Potter. No offense. My son and his friend saw it and they loved it, but thought it was creepier than Harry Potter.
