My Children have read all the books but i never had. It was a much better movie then i anticipated when i took my 10 year old to see it. He informed me that the movie stayed pretty close to the books and that he looks forward to the next installment in the series. I would definetly take him to see more of this series.

We took my two sons, 12 and 9 years old, to see the movie. They have both read all of the books in the series and loved them. They enjoyed the movie and thought it was good but were disappointed at some of the changes made between the book and the movie. Overall, it was a fun, kid-friendly, action-packed movie although if you love the books, you may wish the movie stayed truer to the book

I read the books, saw the coming attractions. I thought this would be amazing. It fell really flat for several reasons, the first being the characters. How do you say boring about the three main actors? And annoying. Especially the "goat." Additionally, the actors portrayal of Hades and Persephone...just awful interpretation. Also, I think it was insulting to African Americans that the only actors of color were portrayed as stereo-typical "fast-talking, jive-talking slang speaking" characters. I found that disgraceful and shameful. It made my skin crawl. The best thing about the movie was Pierce Brosnan. I will not see any additional movies in this series. On a positive note, my 7 year old liked it even though the goat annoyed her as well.

If you have not read the book series, you will enjoy this movie, the special effects are fantastic! If you have read the books, you will be disappointed with this movie, because of all that was left out, and changes to the storyline itself. The script writer did a pretty good job of turning an awesome book into a good movie. Although, having read the book, my 12-yr old son and I kept pointing out parts of the book that weren't in the movie. Even so, the movie has very good special effects and kept our attention the whole way through. We thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I read the book after my 12-year-old son kept urging me to do so (he's also the one that got me to read the Harry Potter series), and so when the movie came out, I knew he would want to see it. The only thing I would caution parents that I feel some of the action is very scary for younger children (like carrying around Medusa's decapitated head). If your child has nightmares or gets frightened easily, I would not recommend seeing this movie.

For those who have read the book, he condensed down getting *to* camp and removed the yearly trip his mom and he take, and I understand this for time and pacing. But from the moment he is at camp to him returning the lightning bolt is almost all different. They left out Ares helping him (and the credits list Ray Winston as Ares, and I was SOOOO looking forward to that). I read all the books, so naturally I was detail-picky. I was upset with the casting choice of Annabeth Chase, but did see that Alexandra Daddario is an amazing actress. I saw that they removed many key things, such as the fight Percy has with Ares, as well as adding things such as the need to have the pearls. But the movie was, on a scale from one to ten, a six on its compatability to the books. The special effects were amazing, and the actors were excellent choices. I cannot wait for the next installment of the series.

I didn't know that this movie is based off a book series. With that said, I thought the movie was ok. Lots of cliche' type lines and scenes but it delivers to who it is supposed to deliver to, kids between the ages of 7-13. I took my daughter who is on the low end of the age group and she rated it as "awesome". It was a neat movie for me to watch but to be honest if not for my children I would never have watched it on my own. Take your children if you want to take them to a movie they will like and enjoy.

Having never read the book, I was not sure what to expect from this movie. I knew the basic story line, thanks to the T.V. commercials and my girlfriend. From the beginning, I was hooked. The first ten minutes are the slowest part of the movie, yet still manage to be one of the most tense parts of the movie. Once the action kicks in, it doesn't let up until the very end. All the intense fight scenes and the race against time feel throughout the movie make the two hour movie fly by. The only negative thing i saw was the use of the song "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga, this is because I am not a Lady Gaga fan, even still it is used in a very appropriate spot. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone and everyone!

My 11 year old, who has read the first 4 books, loved it. I've read the first 3 books and thought the movie was a little disjointed and was surprised at some of the major themes/characters in the book that weren't even mentioned. But overall a fun movie. I was in from the beginning! There were scenes where I was holding my breath and didn't even know it. I'm a tough critic on movies since I have worked in the industry but this is a must see on the big screen, more than once. I will even buy it on dvd when it is released!

Having read professional reviews, I was skeptical. The 2 hours were over before we knew it. I took two @7 & 1 @4.Aa little much for the 4 year-old. It is loud and can be scary. Lots of mythology. If you have not read the books, you'll need to remember a lot from school! The special effects were terrific. Nothing hokey about this tweener script. I was on edge about the depiction of drug use (lotus eaters) as fun and sex in the underworld once the heros transported out. I wish directors would not rush kids into the grown-up culture and handle the plot line with a little more innocence. We are looking forward to the next movie.

Took my Nephew to see it and I enjoyed the movie. I have never read the books but enjoy mythology. Thought there could have been more info about the gods provided but I did enjoy the plot and the characters
