This movie will not win any awards but it was a good family movie and my son really liked it. There were some "grown up" humor in there for the parents which I'm sure went right over the kids' heads and it was overall pretty enjoyable.

My six-year-old son enjoyed it. The visual references to ET, Alien, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind were cute (but go way over the kids' heads), and a few gags give you a chuckle. The animation is impressive and the voice work of the actors is very good, but the story is completely predictable.

Very cute Family Movie. Our 3 sons ages 5 through 11 loved it (as did my wife and I) and sat through the whole movie laughing. The plot, animation and humor are consistently good making for a good movie experience from start to finish.

My husband and I went to this movie on a whim Thanksgiving Day since the kids were gone. Really enjoyed the whole thing. There were many references made that young kids wouldn't get (musical selections and references from the 1950's including hairstyles and 'beatniks') and we found ourselves looking for more as the movie progressed. Good clean humor although there were some bathroom references that kids would relate to. We have already recommended this movie to my sister, so, yes, it's a good, well-done 'clean' movie for those of us who are tired of movies that have given us a headache by the time they are done. Oh, and the little kids behind us had a great time, too!

My daughter laughed out loud at many parts of the movie. Duane "The Rock" Johnson lends a great hero voice to the astronaut, but nearly every scene is stolen by "Rover".
Many adult will find many of the "hidden" jokes funny. Much of the humor comes from hidden pop culture references relating to America in the 1950's. You will recognize cars, movie references, and the very beginnings of the counterculture movement. Nothing is too intense for children, and happily for me, the content is clean. It's just good clean fun.

What a great relief from the slow and boring new moon (and all its hype) movie that I just walked out of from across the hall. I only saw the last 20 minutes of Planet 51 but, that was enough to know I want to come back and see the whole thing. Planet 51 was way better than New Moon. It held my interest in the storyline, the characters, and the fun things visually to see because of the animation.

Took my 7 year old nephew my 11 year old daughter and my 18 year old son to this show and they kids thought it was "awesome". the reason we GO TO the movies - is not really for the kids. they are small, and just as happy in front of a dvd. so we pay the outrageous movie prices for movies that us adults can enjoy too.
planet 51 was dull. the kids liked it ok. they weren't overly animated about the jokes like they were with monsters v aliens or Up - but they seemed engaged. on the other hand, i think i dozed off 6 times.

This is a good movie for younger kids. It's a little too slow for older kids. There's also some adult humor in there that didn't need to be in there. It's pretty vague so my little ones didn't get it but the kindergartener did ask about it later. My kids got a kick out of it and that's what counts. Definitely not Disney quality.
