I really had high hopes for this film. It had some pretty funny parts (especially if you're a child of the 80s and are familiar with the love ballads). I feel this comedy did what so many other promising comedies do: fail to deliver all the funny potential. I think they really could have added in a lot more humor. In fact, I though the first part of the movie was pretty slow moving. I didn't dislike it, but I thought it was going to be much better than it was. It had a lot of potential. Maybe save your hard-earned money until it comes out on Netflix or Blockbuster.

This was, by far, one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time! A major factor was that it was much cleaner in its humor than most comedies playing in the theaters today. In other words, this movie required something not often seen--REAL TALENT!!! Kevin James delivered Paul Blart to the audience in a way that made the audience cheer from start to finish. There's a little Blart in all of us-flawed, but indomitable. Go Blart!

My daughter and I were really looking forward to this movie. We both like Kevin James, and the trailer for the movie was SO funny...with a great premise for a comedy. And the movie did have some funny parts. It also had some sweet parts, especially the scenes with his daughter in the film. One of the disappointments, though, was the fact that there was a little more violence and abuse towards James's character than I expected... even before the criminals took over the mall. He would have been a sympathetic character even without that much harshness. Overall, we still enjoyed it, but I think if they'd focused more on humor and less on violence, it would have been even better.

We brought our 6 and 8 year olds to see this movie -- it's rated PG after all. My 6 year old was scared and my husband and I were horrified at the drunken scene in the bar. The voilence was also a bit much for younger children. The central theme was a good one: down on your luck guy who gets picked on his whole life becomes a hero; but there was way to much inappropriate language and behavior for this to be a PG movie.

Took my two boys to this movie and they thought it was funny. They laughed, but not like I thought they would. It for sure deserves the PG rating as it is not a movie for general audiences. There was some language and some crude humor (like the ratings say). I am a big Kevin James fan, but for me this was a disappointment. I would not suggest this for kids under 9.

Honestly both my husband and I were very disappointed. The previews show all the funny parts and the rest of the movie isn't that hilarious. It had it moments, but it fell very short of our expectations.

I brought my son 10 and his friend 11, they thought it was slow but had some funny scenes. They did not say it stunk but didn't leave saying it was great. I was doing everything I could not to fall asleep. If you are not bringing kids and/or want to see a kids non animated movie, save your money wait for the "TV" debut... it will be soon.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Our five year-old grandson wanted to see this movie for his birthday so we took him. We didn't expect much, and my husband even remarked that he hoped he didn't fall asleep, but to our surprise we actually enjoyed the movie and wouldn't mind seeing it again. This was not a "serious" movie with a heavy theme (hence the 4 star rating) but every movie doesn't have to be. This one had characters who were ordinary people set in an extraordinary situation. Accept it for what it sets out to be and you'll find that it's a nice, entertaining, funny, and heartwarming story the entire family can enjoy. Ours did--all 4 adults and 3 children.
