I lived in New Orleans in 1986 and walked my dog at the levee of Lake Pontchartrain weekly. "Trouble the Water" was a poignant account of "NOLA" residents who lived through Hurricane Katrina and some who did not survive. It is a sobering look at many details of events as seen through the eyes of a young lady and her family who were unknown heros. I even grew to enjoy rap music as I watched. Who knew?
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Trouble the Water is stunning, powerful and real. The film makers have captured the essence of what went wrong in America and presented a perspective that is rarely discussed. Kim and Scott are remarkable. Their resilience, strength and wisdom show the positive side of what this country has attempted to bury and blame on poverty and illiteracy. The film should be shown across America, over and over again. Bravo!

As someone who had the unique pleasure to work on this film and then to see the final product, I must say it is a must see for those interested in what happened in New Orleans with Katrina and for those who want to see a wonderful film. It is beautiful, and at times very scary. This film will warm your heart and p*ss you off at the same time. Kim and Scott are true American heros.

Through the eyes of three residents of the Lower 9 that tell their story of survival and renewal, this movie shows human solidarity and government neglect up close and personal. Sticking to the first-hand experience of its narrators, it brings out the larger reality of a predictable disaster when it is magnified by public indifference and/or incompetence. This is a needed reminder; I hope it gets shown around the country and the world.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is an unforgettable film--it is a beautifully edited story about people's relationships to government during and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Rather than re-hashing what we already know about the hurricane--which is still awful--we learn about the poorest of the poor here, and how they confront real issues of racism, classism, and ignorance as they try to recover from the hurricane.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

a strong reminder of the best and the worst of our society....the suffering of many brought about by the classist and racist policies of the bush regime, and the bravery and self sacrifice of regular people risking their lives to help others.
powerful, troubling and a strong call to rid ourselves of the most reactionary elements that now control washington.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
