I am new to the whole Batman thing... my husband introduced me to Batman begins shortly before The Dark Knight came out, and I just loved them both! I have to say The Dark Knight was MUCH more exciting action wise, but both movies were great stories. I definitely recommended seeing this movie!!

I know alot of people are saying that the movie is too long, and the movie was over-hyped, but I'm here to say that both are hardly a negative aspect of the movie. First of all, the movie moves at breakneck speed. Second, all the actors are terrific and make you believe in this world, hell even Eric Roberts was good! The crowning achievement is Heath Ledger as the Joker. He will have you laughing, cringing, and in awe of everything that he does on screen. I saw this movie in IMAX, and certainly recommend it to you. The action is the best all year, and is done with as little digital effects as possible. The IMAX version of the film is something to behold and will make you feel like you are in Gotham, especially the film's climax! Go see it!

I have to say I came out of this performance amazed. The Nolans did an excellent job recapturing what they had achieved so well in Batman Begins, a brutal Gotham drawing characters from both sides of the fence into utter chaos. It copies its previous success (with a little darker filter) to a fault. Although it was filled with seamless action and several exhilarating turns, the film did tend to drag as scenes were seemingly added just to pad the action. Specifically, parts focusing on the characters introduced in Batman Begins like Fox and Rachel, which really have nothing to do with the story are drawn out and integrated into the rest of the script messily. Fans of the comic books may also find distaste in the alternate Harvey Dent story presented, as his behavior in the film seems less provoked and uncharacteristic of the man himself, though Eckhart did a good job in his portrayal the double-sided crime buster. But what does it really come down to? Heath Ledger's performance was simply one of the best I've seen an actor do in a mainstream film lately. And I am not one of those lauding his role due to his death (I never met the guy... sorry, he doesn't mean much to me), but his portrayal of the most famous batman villain is unique, haunting, and yet maintains something of that familiar Joker psychosis which any fan will immediately recognize. His speech, swagger, and chilling laugh are well executed and really make this entire movie. He won't fail to surprise you, even when you see him coming. Batman on the other hand I think takes a step down from the first film. Although he brings some fun new gadgets and plenty of brawny justice to the bad guys, some of it is just a little ridiculous. Why don't you take off your sonar eyes when you're in a fistfight Bruce, and why do we always have to hear someone blatantly narrating your purpose? The awesome 'batman voice' which Bale nailed in the first film also took a bad turn with an over synth in Dark Knight, making him sound like a cross between Solid Snake and Xerxes the godking of Persia. See this movie, see it now, and see it again (I will), but I still maintain that you'll wish you had seen Ledger and Eckhart take the stage in Batman Begins instead of this slightly forced installment.

This one was better than the first one. Christian Bale brought an even darker aspect to the Bruce Wayne/Batman character. I do have to say out of the 3 men that have played The Joker, Heath is number one. He brought a new meaning to the term psycopathic killer. Movie was awesome. I was not that big of a fan of Batman until my husband made me watch Batman Begins, then I was hooked. Couldn't wait for this one to come out. The high pitch laugh still resonates in my ears. Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker was absolutely genius. He was fully dedicated to the role and it truly showed. It was believable- facial expressions, the little quirk movements, and each word he spoke was just so convincing. Bravo!

Obviously the best comic film ever made. That being said, if there was no comic book involved, this would still be a highly meaningful and entertaining film. The Joker, representing terrorism, Batman, representing homeland security, and spying on people via cell phones, representing a misuse of the Patriot Act. Excellent direction, with stunning visuals. The script is far superior to any Batman script prior to this. The dialogue was meaningful. The acting, well, where do I begin. Christian Bale is by far the best Batman to date. He is a man torn between right and wrong, and Bale pulls it off poetically. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Aaron Eckhart, all flawless. The weak points were few, but here they are: The turn to Two-Face by Harvey Dent was a little quick. Not quite justifiable enough. Maggie Gyllenhaal's part seemed to be useless. She did what she could with the role, but it seemed as if she was there to be the woman who needed saving, and nothing else. Now, on to Heath Ledger as the Joker. Wow. No backstory needed for his character, as he is just plain and simply, insane. He has no motive, just loves crime. I got home the other night after the film, and watched Jack Nicholson as the Joker. I turned it off. Unfortunately, there will never be another Joker after Ledger's take on the role. And we will be reciting his famous lines from this film forever. Why so serious? Well, congratulations Heath, you are going to get your Oscar. And that should put a smile on that face. Indeed, a fine farewell by Ledger. We shall miss you, and the many great things you would have done.

I had thought all the hype about Ledgers performance was due to his untimely passing, however I was very very wrong. Eckhart was also great casting for HArvey Dent.

Despite being a sequel and picking up almost immediately following the first film, there is almost no comparison between the two. "The Dark Knight" has a plot that is very deep, asking audiences to consider our choices and the internal conflicts within us all. All of the hype about Heath Ledger's performance is more than justified, and the rest of the cast holds up wonderfully. But it is the Joker that steals this show. I can't say enough good things about this movie.

Ever is saying that this is the best "comic book" movie they have ever seen...forget the fact this is a comic book movie, it is a great movie. This movie is up there with the Departed in the category of everyone in the cast bringing incredible, believable roles. Heath Ledger may be the most twisted and terrifying villain in film history. Great movie. See it as many times as you can.
