There's nothing like a good, dark, gritty Batman movie. Even during the day, Chicago.. err.. Gotham had a creepy feel to it. The opening sequence solidified the following 2 hours and 24 minutes... It wasn't set up like anything we had seen in a Batman movie before... And everything that followed was equally enticing. Bale, returning as Bruce Wayne / Batman, worked for a second time running, and the choice of Ledger and Eckhart as this films villains was perfect. I'm still shocked at Ledger's performance. It was stunning, to say the least. He captured the insanity that lived within the Joker's mind - especially in the comic classic "The Killing Joke"... Eckhart did a great job as Harvey Dent, but it wasn't until the later half of the movie that he really kicked it up a notch and grabbed you by the front of your pants and twisted.. We should not overlook Michael Caine and Gary Oldman.. Both returning for their second run at their characters, and both dramatically great. I liked Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes, but I don't feel that her character was given her due towards the end of the movie. Overall, this movie was as dark as the first Batman (by Burton) and as cynical as Frank MIller's comic classic "The Dark Knight Returns"... Next to Burton's original two classics, this movie captures the mystique that a Batman movie should. I will say though, that I would consider Bale part of the supporting cast, because this is one movie that was made for the villains, and not the hero.

The movie winks with details made for fans of the graphic original while changing small details. Eg the origin of twoface changed from the comic original but we are still given a scene very similar to his comics origin so we feel rewarded for having read it. Details geared to fans also move the plot for those who aren't as familiar with the comics but who like a good movie. Overall, delivers for all viewers. See the IMAX because it's immense.

I am a movie fan, and although skeptical about the whole "IMAX Experience", it was worth the extra money. I have to say an incredible movie was made even more incredible done with an IMAX camera, and seen in an IMAX theater. The entire experience, the cinemaphotography, the movie plot, the acting, the action scenes, the outcome (ending), everything was extremely well done. I want to see the movie again (a real rarity for me), I think my wife would enjoy going (and she's not a real action movie fan) and I'd like to see it again in an IMAX theater, even though it is a far more pricey way to go I think it really is worth it.

This was the best movie I've seen in theatres in a long time. Christopher Nolan, Charles Roven, and Emma Thomas brought together an amazing cast. Much has been made of Heath Ledger's final performance, and I believe it's Oscar worthy even without the drama of his death.

This movie was hands down the best I have seen in years. Probably since the original Matrix or Batman Begins. It was extremely well done and even Maggie Gyllenhaal couldn't ruin it.

Every moment of this movie was amazing. Bale and Leger were the center pieces of the most compelling and realistic Batman movie yet. Caine, Oldman, and Eckhart are all excellent in this movie as well as all the support cast. You will not believe the special effects. Make sure and see it in IMAX if at all possible; it will truly take you to another reality. I would highly recommend to see it at least 2 times, if not more. The best movie of the year so far.

I went in with high expectations. They were exceeded, but in a totally unexpected way. I had no idea a comic-book action film could be THIS deeply involving, utterly serious, totally believable and disturbing. If IMAX is available, why see it in any other format? It's simply magnificent and well worth the increased price. Yes, Heath Ledger steals the show. Scary, fascinating, riveting, intense off-the-chain performance. One of the all-time great screen performances. And I'm 63, worked in film and TV all my life (writer / producer). As remarkable as Ledger is, though, everybody else is equally terrific. It's not a one-man show. The cinematography is thrilling. The CGI is flawless. NOTHING looks faked, even when you know it has to be. The best film in this genre ever made. Well, made so far. Interesting that I noticed many people my age at the screening I attended. The screening before mine, and the one after, as well as the one I attended, were sold out. Yes, "The Dark Knight" deserves every penny it's making. May well be the largest-grossing release in film history, to date. It earns it on every level. And yes, I'm going back at least once more, and probably a third time.

Saw Dark Knight in IMAX. It was unreal. Heath Ledger was so creepy as the Joker it was awesome. The entire film was just so well put together. Add to that, the gigantic IMAX screen and it was out of this world. Will never see another action flick in a regular theater if I don't have to again.

I loved Nicholson as the Joker, but Ledger's anarchy is darker and more disturbing. This film seems less like a comic and more like a journey into human depths. There is redemption, but at such a cost. What an outstanding movie this is.

This is without a question one of the best movies I have ever seen. The story, the acting everything was perfect. Heath Ledger really should be nominated for an Oscar b/c he really deserves it. HE was soo compeling. Christina Bale was already my favorite male actor and he just continued to prove me right. Even if you are not a Batman fan, you will love this movie. IT is impossible not to. The movie was amazing! Heath Ledger did an incredible job as the Joker. He was completely transformed and definitely sold his character. This was definitely one of the best movies I've seen in a loooong time. And watching it on the IMAX screen was totally worth the cost!!!!! I would DEFINITELY recommend this movie to anyone...especially on the IMAX screen. I was even considering going back to see it again.

I just had to review this movie, it was one of the best movies i have ever seen, the plot was a little complicated, well for me at least, but it was worth it. This movie had alot of things that dont usually happen in superhero movies, such as important characters dying, or the bad guy beign totally unpredictible. The Joker made this move more believeable, and show us the true identity of this corrupt world

This movie is definitely deserving of the best comic book movie made. Watching the movie on the I-Max screen is amazing. The directors shot the 20-minute action sequence at the end of the film using the I-Max cameras. This joker should go down as the best of all time (But don't forget the Nicholson Joker is a icon). What makes this joker the best is that he was done the way it was intented. (Dark, dirty and sadistic). The two and a half our film never stops and the movie does not have you looking at you watch wondering how much longer there is to go. Ever actor has their moment in the movie and the balance between Batman and Joker is perfect. Not to much, but not to the point of making you want more. If you have the extra money in your pocket then spend it on seeing The Dark Knight at a Imax theater.

Heather Ledger is outstanding, there's no denying that, and Christian Bale is tha best Batman to date. But...the story line is weak...much of it could and should have been edited out. And what happened to Gotham! It looks likes Chicago...there's even a chase scene where you see a CHASE bank...no special effects...no dark and eerie Gotham! Very disappointing considering the hype...the first third of it is a drag...the Joker saves it...but in such a big way, you almost forget how bad the beginning was!!

This is an incredible sequel to Batman Begins. While the Joker does steal the show, Batman remains the mysterious hero. Heath Ledgers preformance draws you in to an unknown side of his character, hook, line and sinker. A must see!!

I would have been happy to review this movie had I actually seen it. I hear it is wonderful. Unfortunately, Channelside Cinema/iMax are the most incompitent group of people in charge of a venue that I have ever seen. I took the trouble to buy these tickets on line to have the advantage of not going to the box office. Alas when I arrived there, only one employee on duty manning the ticket sales. Concierge desk CLOSED. Stood in lin for 25 minutes to get my on line tickets and when arriving into iMax theatre NO SEATS. Got money back minus the svc charge. This is probably the 5th or 6th incident at this place. In fact ,had similar problem at Beowulf. Movie Tickets.com should consider removing these people as clients.

first time seeing the IMAX and what a movie to see on it!!! it was terriffic!! Heath was really great which makes his passing even worse... Bale , Caine and gang were all so believable they are true artist! Great job to all Mr. Nolan way to go!!

A must see for any Batman fan. The Joker made the movie...it is so sad that Heath is gone. He was a good person and an amazing actor in this film. His grasp of the "comic book" Joker was right on key. This movie was non-stop action and left you wanting more...even though it was nearly 3 hours long! I will adding this one to my collection once it comes out on Blu Ray....heck, I think I am going to watch it at the IMAX one more time.

If you are going to see The Dark Knight just for mindless action and chase sequences (although there are several terrific action scenes) you are bound for disappointment. This film has a lot to say and does so with high style. The performances are all top rate (yes, Heath Ledger does some of his finest work as the Joker!) with everyone involved deserving to take a bow. But what I enjoyed the most was that it all had a point and it was made with intelligence. Very worthwhile and entertaining but a lot more seriously themed than many people would have expected. I could go on and describe the great photography, editing, film score, etc. but you definately need to see this film and judge for yourself.
