This movie wasn't as funny as I thought it would be...there were so many scenes that totally crossed the line from being funny to awkwardly disgusting...it was a little too much for my taste...and I didn't think it was gonna be like a mockery of biblical stories. Some of it was funny though, just wouldn't recommend paying to see it....and i love Jack Black and that Mike kid but this movie was just not good script :/

We see movies every week, so we have seen our share of good and bad movies but this takes the cake on worse movie of the year so far. I think somebody decided to make a movie that combines History of the World with The Life of Brian but in their excitement they forgot to make the movie funny or even remotely bearable. I saw the movie in an empty theatre and left after 30 minutes - others couldn't wait that long. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Wow! This movie is really a bomb shell who would approve the funding to creat this film! Feel like I've been rippped off they created such a low budget film just to bank it in, one of the worst films ever! This movie was just plain awful. My wife and I walked out after enduring 15 minutes. It looked like a bunch of stoners got high one afternoon and decided to make a movie. No worries about a script - just make it up as the afternoon went along. If the American public thinks this movie is funny or worth of any accolade, no wonder Obama got elected.

Lots of wasted talent here. Mel Brooks and/or Monty Python would do it so much better....or should I say....they did do it better....and by "leaps and bounds"! The funny, worthwhile bits could have been boiled down to fit into a 30 minutes HBO sitcom. Very slow at times with an over-reliance on "male potty humor". I laughed out loud a few times but not near enough for a 100 minute movie. Feels like a film where everyone was trying to collect a quick pay check - hoping they could scurry quickly to something better so this would be forgotten....also quickly. Could be Jack Black's "Ishtar". Come on JB....we know you can do better!

This movie was hilarious! I seriously did not want to see it so much at first because the previews didn't do it much justice. You have to have an open mind to comedy in order to enjoy Jack Black's antics.. I def felt like I was seeing alittle bit of the "shy guy" in Michael Cera.. reminded me of his performance in Superbad. I definetly recommend people go and see this movie. It will keep you on your toes in comedic genius. If you can not appreciate a good laugh, I don't recommend it. Also this movie is more for teenagers/twenties and thirties movie-goers.. def not for children or the older folk, at least those with more of a conservative value.

Okay so we've seen this sort of movie before, big woop. If you go into this movie relaxed and ready to laugh you will not be let down. Critics are saying it's unoriginal and obnoxious but that's ALMOST just the point. It may try a little hard at times and seem incredibly stupid but I got a fair amount of genuine laughs out of this movie.

Went Friday with my 13 yo son, some of the humor still made me wince knowing he was watching. As for the movie itself, it was what i was expecting from this cast and director. Not all the funny scenes were in the trailer! Flow was good, waiting for the next time change in the movie kept it fresh. I will recommend this movie to friends who i know will understand the dry sense of humor and quick witted one liners.

So, I went see this movie with my husband and his friend. Personally I would not watch this movie again, or recommend it to a friend. I just feel like it wasn't as funny as it could have been. Not that it didn't have it's moments, but for the most part it was excpected or so over the top that it was uncomfortable. If you are a huge Jack Black or Michael Cera fan I would go see this. If you just really like them...wait until it comes out on DVD.

Seemed like an attempt to copy Monty Python and Abbot and Costello while adding their own sense of humor. All of the actors did a great job but the material was slow and crude. The material wasn't really as funny as we had hoped for and the jokes were obvious and very young. Graphically eating feces just wasn't that funny.

Im not sure what people were expecting this movie to be that have gave bad reviews but for PG-13 I liked the movie alot. I think they could have made it a Rated -R and made me give it a 5 star but this is a summer movie made for everyone and it has plenty of laughs to make everyone happy. If you never have went to church and dont know stories from the bible you may miss out on some great jokes otherwise I have seen it twice already!

It's just quite simple. You cannot bank on a dozen smiles (not laughs) at the expense of Cera's innate awkwardness to make a movie funny. Black is his usual kind of funny, which gets old quick. The plot is weak and painfully predictable. I'm starting to have serious doubts about which came first, the plot, or the lines we've already seen in the trailer. I always say when the trailers keep adding funny lines to them, stay away because they are showing you the best parts. Cera had the best lines overall, but they were still not good. There was maybe a chuckle every once in a while. But it just didn't get me to laugh. Platt was good and his costumes were great. About halfway through I wanted to leave. I mean I knew this was going to be a bad potty humor movie, but it was worse than I could imagine. The laughs just weren't there.

While the movie had a majority of humor coming from "potty" jokes, a great deal of the humor was also drawn from biblical jokes, Old Testament style which made the movie quite hilarious. Yes, it did drag a bit at the beginning and had a great deal of lame bits that leave you wanting the movie to end but overall, the biblical humor makes it worth the money.

When you watch Year One with remembering it is a comedy and lose sight of the historical inaccuracies and such you will truly be able to enjoy the movie far more. I would not recommend this film to the younger generation, there is a lot of adult humor. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Biggest disappointment ever. Even the "crude" humor (which I like) was bad. There was hardly an occasional chuckle, and the bloopers at the end were better than the movie itself. It didn't flow well at all, the lines seemed forced, and everyone left wishing they could have their money back. I've been warning my friends not to waste their time on this, because every funny part in the movie is in the preview without exception.

this movie really couldn't get much worse. very flat and strange attempts at humor - peeing on oneself upside down - now there are some belly laughs. When choosing a movie, trust me, this is not worth your time or money.

This is a family movie. I saw this movie HOPING for graphical humor in it but it mostly consisted of a suggestive humor quality. They never acknowledge the presence of Se* but they do use words that describe it to people that know of it already. Jack Black and Micael Cera are a fantastic combination in this movie. It starts off slow but ends quite well. All in all i give it 4 stars.

Boring, offensive, makes no sense, looses focus after the first 10 minutes. Very poorly constructed movie. Michael Cera is still funny though. But terrible movie, just aweful.
