My 14 yr old daughter and I saw this movie today. Wouldn't recommend for younger hids, as it's got some VERY suggestive parts, but it WAS funny, in a weird way! The last 15 or 20 minutes are probably the funniest parts, and the out-takes at the credits are hillarious!

I have officially given up on Jack Black. He's got the talent and ability...but can't seem to put it all together. This movie had promise but, after an hour or so, my wife and I just got up and left. Given the price for the dinner before it, the actual tickets, and the popcorn/drinks...you'd think I'd stick it out on principal alone. Sadly, I couldn't....this was the first movie I've walked out on since Clueless.

There were a several laugh-out-loud moments.....but, sadly, not enough. I went in expecting the usual crude humor, but I have to say, (and sorry - there is no other way to say it) the seemingly constant barrage of sod--y jokes and inuendos were way too much! True, they were in "Sodom and Gomorrah" for a good part of the movie, but does that have to be the only joke? Also, maybe it's just me, but the movie seemed to be mocking the Bible really intensely (and not in a "laughing with you" type of way). I went in for light-hearted comedy, but seemed to get predictable comedy with overused jokes. Oh, and a bit of Bible bashing thrown in for what.....it didn't add anything to the movie.

Sophomoric and I liked it. Some good slightly subversive pokes and irreverent biblical jabs. Didn't like the scatological stuff but it seems there are some comedians who just have to do the scatological jokes, and maybe we have to put up with it in order still to be there for the actually funny stuff.

OH MY GOD!!! Even though I'm not a big Jack Black fan, some of the trailers looked kinda funny, so I figured I'd give this movie a shot. I should have gone and had a root canal instead. The only slightly funny part was about the last 15 minutes. This movie needed more action, slapstick, sight gags, etc. It's supposed to be about "The Year One", yet they're speaking in today's vernacular, and not even trying to make it look authentic. It's so slow you won't need a watch to time it, a calendar will be more like it. Stay home and watch reruns of Leave It To Beaver. You'll be glad you did.

‘Year One’ was better than expected after reading other reviews. I found a lot of laughs in the biblical and historical referenced situations. They did try to keep milking some of them for laughs after the cow was dry, but the movie was mostly funny, and sometimes very funny. It won’t win any Academy Awards, but I don’t think they were trying to.

I am thinking this movie will join the likes of the 3 Amigos. Great actors in a horrible script delivered to you so incredibly slow, you often think this must be simply out takes, not the real thing. In fact, the out takes were the BEST part of the movie..too bad I had to sit through the entire thing to get to them. Poor Jack Black! I went to this movie on the sole belief that he would be able to pull if off...NOPE! The TV commercials are the best part of any of this!

Would not put this in the geniuos category but it was very fruitful. The irony throughout the story was quite hilarious and makes you wonder how much of history had these simple quarks. This definately is one to add to the collection just try not to burn out the dvd/blue-ray player watching it over and over because it is that funny. "Can't I just kiss ya?"

I was appaled with this movie - anything funny was shown in the comercials and everything else was crude. Jack Black was horrible - Michael Cera was the only one worth seeing in this film and I would not waste my money on it, don't even rent it - just wait for it to hit TV. My husband and I brought my 13 year old and his friends to this movie. It was perfect for them. There was a lot of adult conotation, but nothing graphic. My husband was crying, he was laughing so hard from the begining of the movie. It can be funny if you get the biblical references. Otherwise you may not get it...Always a fan of Jack Black....I would give this a 5 out of 10.

Its like it was made from Godless people, and just writting this review, is a total waste of my precious time but i would have loved the warning. Waste of money and time.

Jack Black usually acts in hilarious movies. Like Tropic Thunder. This one.... This is like spitting in the fan's face. Its not that good, not even funny a waste of 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Come on people in hollywood give us a decent comedy. Now a days you find dirty humor in all the comdey movies. Some are funny others are lame.

Wasn't worth seeing in theaters, just mildly entertaining. I don't get why people are freaking out about it being too graphic, I don't remember anything that bad, but I didn't watch it with kids.

This must be one of the most horribly rated movies I've ever seen. The rating says PG-13 in reality it should be Rated X . No PG movie should have such graphic same gender scenes or group "entertainment". I was truly horrified when I took our girls (and a friend's daughter ) to watch it. I do not recommend this movie to anyone!! Besides the ratings, the movie is poorly executed. In truth, the worst movie experience of my life!!
