I think that the fact the Mulder and Scully were in the same bed together was worth the wait. Skinner showing up was amazing. I would have liked to have seen some conspiracy information but we all need to show support because there should be a movie coming out in 2012 if all goes well with this one and there will be a lot more of that. This was a test run and I loved it.

I just went and saw it and after the negative reviews I was worried going in. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The movie was simple, brilliant and thought provoking. Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny gave stellar performances as did Billy Connelly. A small, well thought out film. Had me thinking for hours after I left the theater. The mirroring of the two plots was great. I'll definitely be seeing it again. Go see it. And bring a friend or two.

It was great to see mulder & scully again. my husband is not quite the x-phile as i am, but he enjoyed the movie, too. Chris carter & frank spotnitz accomplished their mission: this movie rocked for both diehard fans & casual observers . I will definitely see it in the theater again and already have the yet-to-be released dvd of it on my christmas list. chris & frank: MORE PLEASE!

I was a little let down. i expected something as scary and action packed as some of the series episodes....and the first x-files movie. anyway, it was still nice to see what happend to Mulder and Scully after the series ended. there are a few winks to x-files fans through out the movie.

Well the movie was a great episode - it was fashioned after the style of how they did their series. I thought it was a great movie for and x-files one. In my opinion I think people where expecting there to be little green men running around. Basically prove there was aliens or something. But it ended with the usual ending they did almost every episode and that is they dont know for sure or not if the "x-file" of the situation was real or not. In this case it was the preacher who had physic abilities. It calls on for the viewer to decide one there own. All in all I would recommend it to friends who are "The X-Files" fans

This was a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!! The Plot was nothing special. No Aliens, Monsters, or any excitement that should've waken up my wife. I would've done the same but I drank a LARGE coffee. Is this the best Chris can do? If so please don't make a #3. I would have been satisfied watching the first one on the big screen. Don't waste your money, in fact dont even rent it. If you're simply a fan of the Sci-fi/Horror/Suspense genre, you don't need to have seen even 1 episode of "The X-Files" to enjoy this film. It's a truly compelling, suspenseful story that is told very well. You won't be disappointed.

What happened to Scully and Mulder. Where was their banter and chemistry. The story was okay but it was as if zombies had possessed the two main characters. Even Skinner was acting like a robot. And not even 1 alien?! I will watch the taped show episodes I have.

Not bad for a basic horror/mystery genre. It doesn't play real, real well, however. Most of the blame goes the the "Scully can't accept Mulder's interest in the unknown" issue, that is so prevalent in TV episode after episode. They're older, more mature, yet playing this fake personal conflict that seems beneath both of them. The story is a bit macabre too.

I really enjoyed this movie, but was a little dissapointed in the plot. The movie could have been a little more scary and more action packed, but despite the lack of horror, it was overall pretty good for X-Phillies loyal to the show. People coming in to watch this movie that have never seen x-files before, might be a little bored and dissapointed, but those big fans loyal to the series will find the relatianship shown in the movie between Mulder and Scully very satisfying. That aspect was a big A+ for me and a big thumbs up. It defenitely dealt with their relationship more then hitting on aliens, monsters and paranormal phenomenon and such that are true to the x-files nature. I would recommend The X-Files: I Want To Believe to loyal fans of the x-files, who appreciate the hard work that was put in to developing the characters of Mulder and Scully, and are interested in seeing how the two's relationship since the end of the series 6 years ago has changed.

I believe that after doing the show for so many years they could have had a different type of story to go on, however I thought that it was good to show them doing something other than searching for Fox's Abducted sister. It was good to see the old Cast, and some new, and you got to catch up with Our Favorite FBI Agents after 10 Years. It was not what the Original Movie was, But I would still tell people to go see it.

I didn't like the pace of the movie; a bit too slow. It was also very melodramatic, especially the parts that place Moulder and Fox at odds with their beliefs in the supernatural. The middle of the movie began to pick up quite a bit, but the ending was somewhat disappointing...yes bad guy was caught (predictable), but the plot was foggy (left a few things unexplained). X-files fans, save your money and rent the DVD.

As an avid fan I was dissapointed in the movie. I knew going into the movie that the alien storyline was not going to be included, but I wanted to believe that the writers had enough sense to make the movie interesting. That being said, with the alien mythology being at the core of the series, I find it absurd that Cater chose not to go down that road. There was a perfect set-up on the last episode with the 2012 invasion.
This movie will not satify hard core viewers and will make a newbie wonder what the fuss all about.
What irritated me the most was Scully mentioning Mulder's sister and trying to link his determination over finding the missing girl to his long-held pain. That storyline was closed with "Closure" and dragging it up again was lame and a cheap way to include Mulder's history in this movie.
If this movie were an epidose, I would have considered it okay, but to put this out as a movie for serious fans who have waited years, is an insult.
I own all the episodes and the 1st movie, but I have to say the only way I will ever own this movie is if someone gives it to me and I doubt I would ever open it up. Thanks Carter and good luck getting funding for another movie-- X-Files fans appreiciate it.

This was, quite simply, an awful movie. The biggest issue is that there was nothing about this movie that was essentially "X-Files." This story could have been told just as easily without Mulder & Scully. Also, fans of the show will find themselves wondering how Mulder, last seen hiding and under sentence of death from the alien-controlled "shadow government," has managed to survive untouched in the years since the series' end. And the same motif of Scully the Disbeliever vs. Mulder the Believer makes no sense in light of all the evidence she saw over the years, which brought about a gradual transformation in her character; it's as if she forgot everything she saw--from the alien fetus at Ft. Detrick and the murder of Deep Throat in Season 1's "The Ernlenmeyer Flask" to the death of reborn alien "supersoldier" Knowle Rohrer in Season 9's "The Truth"--and is choosing to pretend as if none of it ever happened. It's like watching an argument between them which should have occurred in Season 1. It feels like Chris Carter hit the reset button and asked us to forget everything we've seen.
The biggest offense is the small scale of the story. Bringing Mulder back to the FBI (albeit temporarily) and pulling Scully out of her work should have been done for something truly groundbreaking. Instead, it was an a minor story, no more groundbreaking than a standard "monster-of-the-week" episode. If they brought these two back, it should have been to stop the alien invasion for good. Because, like it or not, the Mythology is what the fans watched the show for--to uncover the pieces one by one. The movie should have brought us back to that world, not to a standard police case with a psychic twist.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Or you'll miss something!
I must start by saying that this movie is NOT like the first one. I am sure everyone knows by now that it was never meant to be. For fans of the show (like me) there will be things that disapoint, but if you can look past where the show left off, and see the film of it's self, then it's much more enjoyable. The story is interesting and there are some very nice Mulder/Scully moments. I did find a distinct lack of Skinner quite a let down though, He does appear very briefly. Overall I enjoyed the film, and plan to purchase it uppon DVD release. I want to believe that anyone who sees the film as a unique entity and gives it a chance will feel the same. Go see it for yourself!

I have to say I wanted to see some little green men, But this was one of the other X-Files cases. I did enjoy the movie but felt a little lost at times I really thought had seen all the episodes since the last movie I guess I was wrong. There were some major holes in the history for me. LIke Scully and Mulder meeting again and the next minute their in bed? Something about thier lost son William. Again maybe I mised something in between? There were a few leaps this movie took. My husband didn't care for it he wanted little green men too. But all in all not a bad movie. I was Happy to see them together again.

"I Want to Believe" is a nuanced, introspective visit with the well-known characters of Mulder and Scully, who've aged a bit and moved on with their lives. It keeps much of the flavor of the TV series, replete with UFO pix and British Columbia in Yankee drag. But this is a more philosophical Mulder and Scully. Both have quit the Bureau. Keeping evil away has gained importance to these middle-aged ex-agents with second careers. The young Mulder and Scully, who lived for their next mystery, idealistically ridding the world of evil, now realize their limits, and want to live closer to their comfort zone. The viewer who wants what Mulder and Scully once delivered, should simply buy a ticket to The Dark Knight and indulge youthful idealism. The viewer who relates to the characters of Mulder and Scully, will be pleasantly surprised at who they've become...and at the skills they've retained from their previous careers at the Bureau.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
