I had huge hopes for this movie. I am an avid fan of the X-files. The movie was so disconnected. There were too many storylines that were left unanswered. I lost count on how many continuity errors were in this movie. They never explain the purpose of the psychic priest and what they found. What it meant, I have no idea. It didn't make any sense. I always wanted to see Scully and Mulder get together but the relationship was dull and boring and not what I wanted. I am glad I had a free ticket to see this movie. It is not worth the money. I do want to say that the show did not only have to do with aliens. It also dealt with myths, legends, supernatural events and the paranormal.

After seeing the movie, I couldn't understand why there were so many negative reviews. I think too many people expected this movie to be the way they wanted it to be, and so were disappointed. Going in with no expectations beyond being entertained, I found it to be very good for its genre.

Being a big X-Files fan of the TV Show and the first movie, I had a lot of hopes for this movie. I was worried after reading how the actors had trouble getting back into the characters. There were certain aspects of the TV Show's story and characters that I was hoping would be in the movie like William, Doggett and Reyes. Amanda Peet was fun to watch as always, though. There was one scene towards the beginning that I was happy with, but before and after that I was a disappointed. I live in Richmond, VA and the audience found it funny when Mulder and Scully went to Richmond and our city looked like Minnesota or Vancouver (where the movie was filmed). If we had that much snow, everyone in Richmond would be panicking!!

I went to see this movie on the big screen instead of renting it on Netflix because I thought it would merit a big screen viewing. It did not. It was more like a 2-hour season premier. Mulder is still funny and Dana is still loyal and Skinner makes an appearance in the final minutes of the movie, but what was the biggest draw for me towards the X-Files...i.e., the SciFi aspect, was totally and utterly missing. This was more like a horror movie with Mulder and Scully in the lead. If it were not an X-files movie, I probably would have given it 5-stars because it IS a good movie, it's just not X-Files Movie worthy.

Liked the film, but missed the X files element. They did not fill in the gap of what happened with them during the period of the last film and now. I was thrilled to see Mulder and Dana together again! The plot was excellent. The story had a beginning, a middle and an end. I would have liked to know what happened to their son and it would have been nice to see MORE romance between them, but all in all I was very pleased with the script. It had enough action to keep my husband awake and jumping. I miss the X-Files and like the other person said, ANY X-Files Movie is a GOOD X-file movie. Clean film, no vulgar language. Take the kids!

I am still totally addicted to the series & even though I was a little disappointed I'll still take whatever is offered because I miss the show so much! It was like an "okay" epidsode but lacked the OMG factor! what was missing from the movie: we need to see how their relationship moved from plutonic to lovers. Once the decision was made to make them lovers we need to see the missing piece. How and why did this line get crossed, we really need to know how this happened....the other thing missing was the actual Xfactor. Okay we have a two-headed dog, but shouldn't it have been a two-headed dog from outerspace? or a ghost two-headed dog.....we just needed a little more something xfilish......I am still hoping for a third movie.

I liked this movie very much. I would recommend this movie to all X-Files fans. It was thought provoking and mysterious . Evenly paced and kept you guessing like an old fashioned thriller. The storyline moved rather slowly, but it was enjoyable for an average X-Files fan. There were a several surprises that added to the plot. There were not a lot of special effects, nor were they needed. I think that it has been a long wait since the last movie and that this could possible take away from the excitement of the release of this one. After years of my husband insisting on watching X-Files, then seeing the first movie, I wasn't expecting to be as thoroughly entertained as I was. It really is a good movie, somewhat thought provoking, funny in spots and held my attention to the end. Only closed my eyes at one spot I thought would be gross and/or scary. The movie wasnt what i thought it would be. I thought it would be more abduction, alien type movie. With that said, even though it wasn't what I expected to see, I was VERY happy with the movie and left the theater satisfied with the movie and EXCITED to see Scully, Mulder and Skinner back in action again!!!!! My husband never watched X-files so he didn't understand my excitement over Skinner and little scenes like that, but he enjoyed the movie as well. I will buy it when it comes out.

You don't weaken them. This movie encourages you to ask questions like that (including that question), in true X-files form. X-files was a thought-provoking show. And in a world where our beliefs are spoon-fed to us by the media and by our peers, this movie sticks out and takes a stand. What can inspire people to believe in something when they have lost faith in their government, in God, in themselves? What can inspire Americans to say in public that they are proud to be Americans? An X-files movie? No. Only you can inspire yourself to do those things, but this movie may help you take a step forward, and not just pretend to stand for something, but really, truly, throw your all at whatever it is that you want to believe in. I actually dont agree with all other reviews. At this time Moulder and Skully where no longer involved with the FBI, as Moulder lives a life of seclusion and Skully works as a Doctor. The FBI uses their talents to uncover Russians that are doing medical experiments. However, psychic phenomena is covered here. To me this is The X Files meets The Silence Of The Lambs. Great Movie.. there are also some romantic moments that you will never see in the series... Im ready for the next movie.. Chris Carter, thanks for bringing these characters alive AGAIN!!

I am an avid fan of the X Files TV series. This movie was not only disappointing but could have been done as a 1 hour TV show. It definitely did not live up to the standards that the TV show had. It was boring and rather mundane. It was not suspenseful, but tedious at times. It looked like both lead actors had just "phoned in" their parts and were not engaged in the story at all, especially Jillian Anderson. It was a waste of my time and money.

As a lover of the series I was hoping the movie would answer a few burning questions...like what's really going on with Scully and Mulder, where is William, and what has happened since the series end. This movie disappointed....and disgusted me. I miss the days when the pair were chasing little green men as opposed to Frankenstein-esk Russians.
Simply put, watching the 8 X-Files recommended was a complete waste...anyone who has never seen an episode would understand immediately what's going ...there are few references to past cases.
This movie was a huge let down although Gillian and David remain amazing actors and play the pair perfectly...the rest of the cast was sort of off...until the appearance of Skinner (who has not aged a BIT)! I'm sad to say it but I will probably never watch this movie again...I left the theater hugely disappointed.

It was good if you focus on David and Gillian's characters' relationship. FINALLY! And you need to stay through the credits to see a final scene. OH! The plot of the movie was CREEPY!

This movie was not what i excepted, as an X-Files movie, I was expected more ET stuff and gray man running around. I guess Chris and Frank wanted to center the story around Mulder and Scully rather than the mythology of the X-Files. It is a good movie but not a Great one.

This is not an action movie so don't head for the theaters expecting a film loaded with gunfire and explosions. I absolutely loved this movie. I saw the trailer and didn't think too much of it but a friend recommended it. I saw it today and I was absolutely blown away by both the plot and the acting. It's a medical/sci-fi thriller, in the gere of Robin Cook. If you liked "COMA" you're going to LOVE this film! There's a convicted pedophile priest who's a psychic, reluctantly used by the FBI to lead them to missing persons. Some believe in his powers; most do not. There is also a former discredited FBI agent and his medical doctor partner, also formerly with the Bureau. The FBI wants him back to solve a missing persons case. She comes with the package. It's a fast paced drama with lots of action. The plot is fascinating... Don't miss this sleeper or you're going to be sorry!
