This could have very easily been a 2-part X-Files episode, that should have been aired for free. Rent it by all means. It was great to see Scully and Mulder together again, but nothing really happened in this movie. It's an X-File about organ harvesting. No aliens, no answers to anything, no big secret revealed, nothing. It was only occasionally scary, there was some tension and a few good scenes, but honestly, save your money. The truth isn't out there, and the tagline "I want to believe" is incomplete. "I want to believe I didn't just shell out $10.50 to see what was basically a long 6th season episode" Self gratification for Chris Carter, and nobody else.

I loved this movie. It felt more like watching a long episode than an actual movie, and that's one of the things I liked about it. I enjoyed seeing Scully and Mulder together again. Can't wait for this to come out on DVD.

Great to see Mulder and Scully back in action! Creepy elements and intriguing interweaving of several plot lines. The ever-complicated relationship between Mulder and Scully develops in interesting directions, and really forms the heart of the movie, as the plot revolves around it. Conflicts about faith and science; some moments of humor; inside "jokes" that fans of the original show will recognize. And a little surprise for all those who sit through the credits. I plan to see it again.

I really enjoyed this movie. Unlike many people, I had been waiting for what I call an "episode" show, something not related to the conspiracy theme. My favorite epidsodes were always the supernatural phenomenon episodes. This movie had all the aspects of those best shows: a supernatural element, a crazy human being, half-naked Mulder. The movie started and those old characters that I grew up with were back, pretty much the same as when we left them. I am still inspired by Mulder's belief and want to believe just as much as he does. So for me, it was an episode on the big screen, not an epic movie or a sequel to the convoluted conspiracy story of the last movie. I'm ready for the next one.

As a fan of the old show I was excited and worried how this would turn out after so many years. But I can say for myself and even my husband that I dragged kicking and screaming to see it were pleased with what they came up with. Where would the characters be six years from where we left them on the run, having to adjust to *gasp* a "normal" life with a house and a bed. It was good to know that neither one lost their sense of humor or nerve and were a bit more assertive in what they wanted. If you're looking for fist fights and explosions see The Dark Knight, if you're looking for creepy and metaphysical as only The X-Files can do it, then defenately see this. Besides there was some good detective work and its always cool to see Scully beat someone up. Oh yeah and shippers welcome after the credits.

I have seen this movie several times and have found myself loving it more each time. It is not loaded with lots of special effects, it is more of an old fashioned murder mystery and thriller. The acting is great and the story very enjoyable. Please give it a chance

Wow!!! What a great comeback for the X Files! The film definitely stayed true to its fans, but made certain to not leave out those who are not aware of the X Files TV show. It was like a long episode. I write this in a good way! Good plot, great dialogue, a little humor, and closure. Nicely done- I was very satisfied with the film. while the story certainly lacked the zest of the old days, the mystery, the conspiracy, for me as an avid Xfiler, it was good to see where Muldor and Scully ended up. I think this will be the final episode in the series and it's nice to know they lived happily ever after! But who knows, I read this only cost 3 million so if it makes any money at the box office we may see the dynamic duo again on the screen. Lets hope Carter comes up with a better script and doesn't direct next time though!

When news about this movie finally trickled onto the Internet, Chris Carter informed everyone that the movie would have a stand-alone plotline. There would be no monsters, no aliens, none of the mythology that is present in the series. And while that may have disappointed some, most fans of the series were given exactly what they wanted: Mulder and Scully. This movie is a near perfect and pleasureable look into the lives these two beloved characters have had since the series ended, and into the lives they have now. And perhaps some fans are not happy with the religious and belief context of the movie, but after having most of the alien secrets unearthed, after all the monsters Mulder and Scully have found, and after fleeing from the FBI, all they have is each other and their beliefs. And their beliefs are constantly being questioned, just as they are for everyone. So I think Carter knew exactly what he was doing. This is a great movie, a great tribute to Mulder and Scully and to the fans who love them.

Went to see this out of nostalgia. Don't regret going, but can't really recommend it to hardcore fans -- not enough X FILES stock-in-trade. It stands up as a kind of suspense/midlife crisis relationship drama, but you need the Mulder/Scully backstory to appreciate where they are in this flick, so I can't recommend it to non-fans either. Still, there were a few nice X touches (subversive humor), and it was good to see old friends (no spoilers) pop up. So, if you are that X Fan who loved the series as an FBI romance, with aliens, you might find this satisfying. And if you do go, stay through the credits.

I thought it was good. It could have been a more refined and detailed script, but it was nice to have our favorite X-Files characters back in business,(so to speak...). I was engaged throughout the movie and found the story line to be compelling enough to keep my interest. After waiting six years to see Mulder and Scully again, I've now seen IWTB twice in the past 24 hours. The movie is a true "thank you" to the fans. There are so many moments that only a true Phile would appreciate. I won't give them away, but believe me, they'll leave you smiling. That old Mulder/Scully magic is still there and David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have gotten better looking with age, if that's possible. The case at the heart of the movie has moments scary enough to make you jump out of your seat and creepy enough to make you look away from the screen. And there are some moments in the movie where I literally said outloud, "I did NOT see that coming." The back and forth banter between Mulder and Scully is as tender and witty as ever. As Mulder says, "just like old times." Billy Connolly gives a stand-out performance, and reminds us one thing the XF writers do so well: give us a character we should hate but can't. Think CSM or Krycek. Keep your eyes open for very brief cameos by some interesting people. I won't give any of the plot away but I will say, stay through the credits. Trust me :)

Don't waste your hard earned money on this piece of crap. There is no plot, no suprises. I was surprised Chris Carter would write something this bad considering how well the TV series was written and the first X-Files movie. If you were a big fan of the X-Files series pre-conspiracy theory, you will like this movie. I would have liked it to be something along the lines of the really early stuff like the mothman episode or aliens or other similar paranormal/creepy genre, but overall I wasn't disappointed that I spent the money to see it. It was good in that it filled in some of the blanks about what happened to Mulder and Scully after the FBI, and you got to see some familiar faces from the series. That said there was none of the jump out your seat creepy stuff, but there was plenty of Mulder's dry sense of humor, sexual tension between the two and a really good story line. What made me happiest was that it had nothing to do with conspiracy theory -- you didn't have to work your brain to recall what happened years ago, which most of the fans of the show hated anyway. Overall -- go see if you're a fan, but skip it if you weren't into the show.

I'm giving it three stars, although upon reflection it will likely climb to a four.
This movie is not for casual fans of The X-Files, or even newcomers. Those types will be bored, because the plot itself is not exactly compelling. As a standalone movie, it is not very good.
However, that is not why the diehard fans should stay away. This movie exists solely to explain, and call for further discussion, what Mulder and Scully have become since the last episode of Season 9. As a continuation of character development, this movie is a success.
As a diehard fan I am pleased, but if they decide to make a third movie, it had better involve alien conspiracy.

Suprisingly, this X-Files movie had nothing to do with the alien conspiracy arc. The movie in general was a stand alone X-File episode made larger for the theater. I enjoyed the movie and it was great to see Mulder and Skully back in action again but the movie was not great, it was just good. It was worth the price of admission as the movie had many elements that good movies do. There were many funny one- liners and there was the classic tension between Mulder and Skully that makes the X-Files great. There were plenty of villians to dislike and there was enough action to keep the movie going from beginning to end. Unfortunately, there was not a huge twist or shocking ending and in general Skully is acting the "tortured soul" to much in this flick for my liking. Nice movie but leaves me wanting the next episode to be more explosive and over the top.

I have mixed feelings about this movie. On one hand, it was OK and reminded me of the earlier days of the X-Files TV show when they were always investigating some weird paranormal event not necessarily tied directly to alien abduction. But beyond that I found the movie lacking and without purpose. There were no surprises, no questions answered, no loose ends tied up. I found myself asking "Why did they release this now?" The story itself was OK, but nothing I couldn't have waited for the DVD to see. I wanted to believe, but found myself left as empty as I felt when I arrived.

This movie was not bad, especially for someone like me who was yearning to see Scully and Mulder on the screen again. However, it could have been so much more. Honestly, the content of the movie was really only enough for an hour-long episode of the show. I wish they'd tapped into the mythology rather than just doing a stand-alone.

While this was a decent film as a standalone, it left a lot to be desired from the people who really wanted this to be in the style of the series we all loved. Chris Carter missed his mark when he thought that, I assume, he would create a new batch of X-Philes from this film. The characters had some interesting engagements in the first twenty minutes, but there were just SO many unanswered questions and loose ends. If you're looking for a mild thriller with very few twists, a bit of a morality play, or are going to see this film just because it is X-Files, then be prepared for it. Its not a blockbuster or edge of your seat thriller (like the first X-Files film). Its, at best, a two-part episode,
