Wonderful movie! Almost immediately, you can tell with the cinematography it was shot in Vancouver creating a certain mystique apparent in the episodes shot in Vancouver. The movie stayed true to the series yet instead of dealing with nine-year old conspiracies and bio-terrorism threats, I WANT TO BELIEVE was more like X-Files episodes with the storyline starting and concluding neatly. I WANT TO BELIEVE had great suspense, wonderful acting from Gillian Anderson, superb cinematography and a plausible storyline. It’s disappointing the movie hasn’t done well at the box office because I thoroughly enjoyed it and would like to see it again.

I enjoyed the movie. I was glad to see where Mulder and Scully were in their lives. I liked seeing them in action again.
I just wish they made this movie 4 years earlier. It has me back watching the series again, and hoping against hope there will be another movie.

it was the perfect sequel to the first x- files film as well as a culmination to the series as a whole. the writers stayed true to the series' dark side into the definite unexplainable; as well as making something beautiful out of the relationship Mulder and Scully have and not turn it into something perverse. it is a perfect x-file.

Some X-Files fans will be disapointed. The movie keep my interest all the way through. It was good to see some of the old characters. If you are a fan of the unknown you will still enjoy the movie. Hope we will see another movie which follows mulder and scully.

I found "I Want to Believe" a decent addition to the X-Files canon. While not of the same quality as some of its best episodes, I think it was a not so bad stand-only example for those who have never seen the show while entertaining the followers. I found the antagonists' storyline less than fulfilling. However, the ideas about beliefs are phenomenal whether belief in God (Father Joe), belief in the metaphysical (Mulder), or belief in science (Scully).

I agree with two previous reviewers: This movie is a character study more than an action film. Downside? People who aren't fans of the show won't appreciate this fully. It assumes that the viewer KNOWS the Mulder/Scully history, and that might lose a few people. As long as you can accept this is NOT a chase-em-to-Antarctica X-Files film, you'll be fine. There IS a scene at the very end which almost makes you think that, at any moment, something MIGHT just jump out and abduct them after all, and leaves room for a possible follow-up film. Chris Carter may have hired few fewer stuntmen, but that's not to suggest the movie doesn't have an impact and a resonance. But I'll admit it -- I DID want more alien carnage, but I'm happy with what I got.
