You should go into this movie with the same notion as any movie based on a book... there will be parts that are left out which causes scenes to be different than originally described. If you have not read the book, the biggest setback is you miss out on a lot of the intensity of the relationships between characters and how devoted they truly are to one another. The only complaint I offer is that the movie lacks the substance the book offers. Otherwise, I loved the movie. Good cast, good acting, OK computer generation, awesome storyline. My advice... read the book first so you don't feel like you're missing something. Enjoy :)

I read the book, which I thought was good. If I had not read the book, just in general I wouldn't have gone to catch this movie because it didnt look good. I went to see it only because I had read the book. Big mistake. It was a really bad movie. It was super cheesy and over rated. Save your money for something really good. The movie did not do the book justice.

As others have previously said, you really need to read the book in order to understand all the "inside" information about the characters and why they react the way they do. I think the movie did a very good job portraying the characters, except for Jasper. It was not revealed in the movie the reason as to why he always wears that pained expression (his ability to calm those around him who are upset). I think Alice's part should have matched her importance from the book. Also, it is helpful to know that Victoria and James were "involved" more deeply than what was led on, which explains her reaction at the very end of the movie. Overall, I think it was a good adaptation of the book, very entertaining, and I look forward to the sequels.

If you loved the books, you'll love the show. It is surprisingly humurous, filled with anticipation of kisses and attacks, and of course, very romantic. Keep in mind that it is a 2 hour movie and had to be condensed quite a bit. Don't get nitt-picky about little details. (Like the location of James' bite. They needed a better filming location than her palm.) Some things are out of order, but the essence of the story is well intact.

What a great way to begin our day (12:01)! Though it had to have been challenging to turn such an amazing piece of writing into a movie, everyone came through. I am the mom of a 16 year old boy and have enjoyed reading the entire series. Our theater was packed with true fans!!

The film was great! However, if you have not yet read the book, it jumps quite a bit, and there are parts you simply will not understand. The cinematography is stunning. Overall, major kudos!!!

The movie is just incredible. Very well done! Not boring, made pretty good by following the story on the book. Kristen and Robert work amazingly great in the movie together! Their story is incredible and they lived their roles in an incredible way. LOVE IT will go see it at least 100 times!

I went in knowing it wouldn't be exactly like the book and was kind of disappointed some scenes weren't in the movie, but all in all it was a great movie. Every character came across very well depicted. Pattinson is a great Edward!

I don't think so but for me this was a first movie that was anywhere close to the experience you get while reading a book. Actors were chosen well (at least for me) and I trully enjoyed this movie. I am definitely looking forward to the New Moon movie :)

I am a huge fan of the books. I went into the movie expecting things to be left out but was surprised at how much they just glazed over. Bella has so many relationships throughout the first book that make her a more realistic character and a lot of that was left out of the movie making her seem a little flat. I think Robert P. did an awesome job as Edward; in fact all of the Cullen family was great. The production was a little lacking; some of the special effects seemed as if they used old technology and looked cheesy. I wish Stephenie had written the screen play, it would have been better.
If you have read the books it is most definitely worth seeing; but don't expect the superior quality of the book.

If You really really loved the book....you may find the movie disappointing. I felt like they tried too hard to fit everything in while at the same time having to abbreviate it so much that it lost a lot of the meaning and tone that made the story work so well in book form. The acting was fair, the script was nothing spectacular (which I find difficult as they had an entire book of amazing writing to pull from), and they changed details in the movie that it was really unnecessary to change. If you haven't read the books, see the movie first, if you don't understand something then read it. It will be a much better experience that way.

Other then the fact that fans should probably read the book to get certain parts of the movie it was a really good movie. Characters were a lot better then I thought they would be and overall it was pretty close to the book. To give a better idea, I will certainly buy it when it comes out on dvd.

I would give this movie 3.5 stars if I could.

I thought it was pretty cheesy. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be- but not as good as the book (they NEVER are though)

Kristen Stewart was TERRIBLE she does the same blinking head shake thing to express EVERY emotion.

The scene where she admits she knows Edward's a vampire was the worst. He went crazy and the camera was flipping to all different angles- it made me dizzy.

I think the other one's will be better as the actor's fall into their characters more.

I was swooning a bit over Edward though Although- I still like Jacob the best ;-)

The movie was pretty true to the book- although they did leave out some important parts.

I'll definitely be seeing the next ones.

Read the book AND midnight sun first! The book will help you understand better the struggle between edward and bella.. you need to know their thoughts! Also, do not expect it to AT ALL be like the book. Hardly anything is the same. But it's still amazing! I LOVE EDWARD.

After reading a few (bad) reviews of the movie, I was a little nervous about seeing it. I didn't want to see this movie and it be bad.... being such a huge Twilight fan, I want this movie to do well at the box office but mostly importantly do well in the eyes of the fans.

I can honestly say that this film went beyond my expectations. I would recommend reading the book BEFORE going to see it because there are parts there that are just funnier if you've been in Bella's mind rather than look at the story from the outside. This gets 5 stars from me and a big kudos to the talent and production team!

Well executed

I read the series at the behest of my teen daughter and thoroughly enjoyed the books. We went to the "early nerd special" to be among the first to see the film.
Overall it was extremely well executed. You don't have to have read the books to understand and enjoy the film. It captured the salient points of the book and the essence of the characters in an entertaining way. It was surprisingly humorous, and in many ways, exactly like my own visual images I conjured up while reading, a testament to the involvement of the author and her vision.
The acting, cinamatography and staging blend nicely into a very well spent 2 hours.

I saw the movie last night (or early this morning) and I really enjoyed it. There were a lot of things that were missing and other things that were added that weren't in the book. If you read the book, you will understand the movie, but if you didn't it will be hard to understand a lot of the premises behind the story line. It is not nearly as good as the book just because watching the movie, I felt like I was reading the book, but skipping chapters. I do have to say that there were some corny parts and they made it funnier than I would have expected. I really think that with a bigger budget, they could do some incerdible things with New Moon....that is the one that I want to see! :)

Better than I hoped

Even though the movie is 2 hours long there are things that readers would want to see in film that are not there so consider yourself warned. I enjoyed the movie emensely but there were parts that came off funny when they really shouldn't have. The movie feels a little choppy as it tries to incoporate as much of the book as possible but you get used to it and it adds to the effect. I really did enjoy the movie as a whole even though there were little things I would like to see done differently.

For any guys out there, I had a male(20-23) sitting next to me and his comment was "I have made fun of this movie for months and now I feel stupid because I actually liked it." And he hadn't read the books.

I am a big fan of the Twilight series, but I was felt the movie was very very average. The acting wasn't great at times, the scenes were very choppy and some of the white vampire make up was over done to the point of looking fake. You should absolutely read the books before you see the movie, its just essential. Some parts of the movie were funny, thought i seemed it was mostly things that shouldn't really have been funny, that made me laugh, like the fact that Jasper somewhat resembles a large fetus. Would i see this movie again, yes. Do i suggest other people see it, sure, if you want to. Story wise it was not a disappointment, but technically it was a let down.

The movie moved fast through the story, sometimes it felt like there were awkward transitions between scenes. It didn't seem like the script gave enough room for Edward and Bella to sort of grow the trust between them, it was more like BOOM we totally dig each other. But, as far as movies go it was entertaining, certainly enough eye candy to keep you focused lol. Although, I found that the tons of kids that laughed through parts that weren't meant to be funny (since when are kissing scenes funny?) really made a negative impact on the whole experience for me. I have to see it again in a more mature audience. People need to learn to shut up at the movie theater!

A must-go-see

Love is back and in full bloom... And it took a Vampire to do it. Edward is too awesome in the movie along with Bella. The combination in the movie was just as good as in the books. I recommend reading the books first but still, anyone who goes to see Twilight won't be disappointed. I'll be going to see it a few more times I'm sure.

The story was a bit rushed and at times it feels like the whole James tracking Bella thing ends faster than it even started, but if you read the book you'll notice it went the same way. Most of this movie did do like the book and mainly introduce the characters and I can't complain, I loved it! This will definitely wet your appetite for the movies to come.

Surpassed Expectations!

I love the books but now I am fan of Hardwicke's Twilight. This film includes all the key scenes and develops the story with some extras.

Robert Pattinson left the biggest impression. He was amazing in bringing Edward to life. I could actually see in his actions and carriage how Bella had changed him. Rob gifts the audience with a glimpse into Edward's mind and showed the torture of his soul.

Kristen Stewart was perfect as Bella. She brought a tenacity, relatability and focus to Bella that makes her a heroine.

The rest of the cast was fantastic. The actors really nailed the subtle nuances that I thought would be lost in translation. They really seemed like vampires trying to blend in without just delivering stiff performances.

If you didn't read the books and aren't in love with the books then you'll think this movie is great in all of its cheesiness. If you're in love with the books.... you might be a tad bit upset to see your favorite scenes changed or not in there at all. The acting/lines could have been better but what annoyed me the most was not seeing certain pivotal scenes. Oh well. It wasn't bad.

If you are someone who read all four books like I have, don't have high expectations of the movie. I was disappointed, I thought everybody was great expect for the person who played Bella, I feel that she didn't really catch the character. Alot of the parts weren't the same like the book, and also felt like they were rushing every scene after scene. I think the only thing that stuck to the part was the baseball scene. Alice,Jasper,Esme,Carlise,Rose, Emmett really didn't have that many lines. I just hope when they make new moon that it doesn't disappoint also.
