You must read the book first. You will get so much more out of the movie if you do. The movie started out a little shaky but redeemed itself quickly. A couple of miscast roles but it was still worth the wait and time I have invested in the books.
A must see if you have read the book!

I took my daughter to the midnight premiere of Twilight. I didn't read the book first, but felt like I understood the whole movie. Of course I have been hearing about it for months, as she read all the books at least twice, I only had time to read the first 16 or 20 pages, as she leant it out to all her friends. What girl wouldn't want Edward coming to her rescue? Definitely a movie your teen should see to be in on the pop culture!

I can't imagine how this film adaptation could hold up to Stephenie Meyer's dream for Twilight. It was adequate, but loyal fans will be disappointed by how shallow this story played out on the screen. The meadow scene, for example, was VERY disappointing. One should certainly hope for an improvement in Kristen Stewart's portrayal of Bella, otherwise we're all in for more of the same bland, emo-esque nonsense she gave us here. This fan is definitely sorry she stood in line for 2 hours last night.

It didn't follow the book exactly, but if it had, it would have been a really looooong movie. Loved James and Edward. It had the same feeling of angst like the book. Better than I expected!

I would definitely have to agree with everyone saying you must the read the book before you see the movie. The movie skipped around so much but it did keep true to some of the events in the book but in my opinion it could have been a lot better. They way Edmund was portrayed in the book he was spoken as god like by Bella and in the movie he was kind of a jerk and little controlling but all and all I liked the movie but its one of those the book was definitely better. I can't wait for the second one hopefully it will resemble the book more:-D

hey my name is tiffany and im 16 years old (like jacob)...i was kind of dissappointedin when i watched the movie because well i knew the book would obviously do better but i just thought the acting was mediocre....robert pattinson at some scenes (especially with kristen stewart/bella) was perfect and charming while in other scenes it seemed like he was jking when he did the scene(biology smell bella scene)......the other thing was that when i felt like there was no dialogue and that edward/bella's conflicted relationship/sexual tension was not there......overall i liked this movie but i wouldnt recomend it to non twilight readers

The movie was great. I didn't think that it would be as good as it turned out to be. The book was amazing and I knew that the movie wouldn't be able to live up to the book but it turned out better than I thought it would. I took my 57 year old aunt and my 18 year old brother too see it with me and they both loved it too.

For what it's worth, the movie was great. It kept the spirit of the book, Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer. Unfortunately, the movie was low budget and desperately needed the funding to do good work on CGI.
If you haven't read the book, do so first. Otherwise, you'll not know just how good Twilight can be!
I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who has read the book.

The movie was great, however if you have not read the book you may be lost a bit. I found the movie very close to the book but the story was rushed. If they made the movie another 1/2 hour longer they could have slowed down the building of the relationship between Edward and Bella and maybe fit in the "blood type" scene. Overall the movie had all the elements the book had and I urge everyone that loves the Twilight Saga to see this movie if not once but twice!

Such a let down. The film was poorly put together- editing was horrible, there was no chemistry between the Bella or Edward, plot went too quickly, acting was horrible except for the actor who played Chief Swan, and dialogue was horrendous (very reminiscent of Star Wars 3's dialogue). Basically, all of the best parts of the movie were in the trailers so what was left were fillers that were boring and the whole movie was very uncreative. Special effects were awful and made Edward and the others look like cartoon characters when they were running.

I definitly recommend to read the book first before watching the movie.. some parts you can only get if you read the book and I think its a very exciting romantic movie ..Just cant wait to see the sequels.........My sister read all the books and she really loved the movie. Its very personal when you read the novel and then see the movie because you can see the actors acting out the characters thoughts that was in the novel.. But if you were to just see the movie and not read the book you wouldnt get the characters thoughts . Its not as exciting.

It followed parts of the book rather well. You get a lot of time with Bella & Edward but it is really lacking in time with the "other" Cullen’s. It will help if you read the book before going to see it. The movie can stand on its own but still read the book for more understanding.
If you get motion sickness be warned there is some "zooming" of the camera throughout the movie.
On the plus side this movie contains no cussing and the "scene of sensuality" that the rating mentions is not really more than 3 or 4 intense kisses while Bella is in her PJs. There isn't much blood that is shown except when Bella is with James. But even that is not much. Overall I say go see the movie! I plan on going to see it a few more times myself.

I have yet to see a movie that comes even close to a great novel. This one certainly didn't prove otherwise. The 1st book in a series is so much about character development, and the film failed miserably in that regard. The story moved way too quickly. Kristen Stewart's stuttering, head shaking with every line delivered was over the top. Pattinson's angsty, nervous take on Edward did not at all reflect Meyer's description of him speaking from another era, and the fluidity he possesed, controlled. I also didn't buy the on-screen chemistry....Edward and Bella are supposed to have a love, a bond that goes alomst beyond description.
Charlie was great. And the casting for the rest of Edward's family was pretty spot on, too.

I went to see this last night at a mid-night showing and it was amazing. Everyone did their part so well, and there were some surprises as well. Charlie was amazing, so much different from the book, but also so much better than the book. Jacob (who I'm not a huge fan of anyway) was amazing as well, perfect tone and a lot of fun. The biggest surprise was how much comedy there was in the movie, it had me laughing out loud more than a few times. Rob and Kristen of course had great, great chemistry. Rob does brood a lot but it fits Edward so well you don't mind it. The only negative I might have to say is that there is not nearly enough of the Cullens, but when they are there, they are great together!

I'm 34. Saw the movie last night and of course I loved it!! I have read the books. YOU MUST read the book first or it won't make much sense. I do wish that the movie hadn't moved so fast, however, how could they have really helped that without it being a 5 hour movie?? I would have sat there for 5 hours for sure though!! It fed the need that I had to see it played out on screen so I am really happy and will go see it again! I thought the people they chose were great. The only bad thing is that I am even more in love with Edward than I was before!! My husband hates everything Twilight. :( If you have read the book, you will love it. Can't wait for New Moon!

I believe the movie did a good job of catching the essence of the book. It had its moments where things seemed to be going fast, and if someone has not read the books they might be lost. There were some cheesy scenes but you are able to over look it in the end. I had extremely low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised at the acting between most of the characters. Robert and Kristen's chemistry really pulled the audience in. Although we know it’s a fantasy, you really think this is happening to her just by the atmosphere that the director creates. I really loved the prom ending; it definitely sets it up for what’s to come! I think fans with an open mind will enjoy it more than those who have never read the books.

The film stayed very close to the book. It moved a little quickly bc of the time constraints, and if you have not read the book, I STRONGLY recommend it first. It stayed so true to the book that if you haven't read it you will get confused about halfway into it bc much of the relationship growth was cut from the film.
I originally had my doubts about the casting of several roles (Bella, Rosalie, Esme) but these actors delivered perfectly! The movie stills released before the film didn't do them justice. I was sad that there wasn't very much interaction with the Cullen family, and so we barely got to meet them before the climax. Emmett was classic, and became my favorite character.
Definitely worth going to see, I loved it!

Excellent movie!! I have read all of the books and feel that they could have gone more in depth. You definitely need to read Twilight to get the full effect and all the little things. They could have gone 4hrs and still not get everything. The pace is very fast. I agree that Robert Pattinson is the only one who could have played Edward! He nailed it!! I felt the cast really immersed themselves and did a great job. I can't wait for New Moon.

Great movie, loved the casting but sad not as developed as the book but the movies never are. For those who have never read it, you are missing out as so much more to learn and love. Edward was fantastic but also loved Jacob what little he is in it, Charlie and even odd Jasper, I think he looks tortured which for now is what he is! Go See it!

I loved the books, but the movie falls short of being impressive. The casting is fair at best, the actors take liberties with their characters that make them very different than the book, and the plot leaves out enough that anyone who sees it without having read the books will be left with no depth. On the other hand, the cinematography is great... so is the music. It just wasn't enogh.
