I would say read the book before you see, but if you don't it is still worth seeing. You have to remember this is BASED on the book so it cannot fit everything in it, but this was the best movie I have saeen this year!! I plan on going again today to see it!!!!!!!

Great movie! Love that they did not get carried away with the fight scenes. They could have been quite gory.
My daughter said that the movie really did stay true to the book. Even though I don't like reading in 'first person' I am strongly considering reading the series...I read books by writers like Feehan and Kenyon.
The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the trailer of 'The Unborn'. The parental warning said it was for all audiences. NOT! Even my 15 year old was a litte unnerved by that trailer. It’s great that blood, sex, and gore weren’t seen during the trailer. But the horrors that were shown were just as bad, if not worse.

If you've read the Twilight series, this is a must see. While I wouldn't say it was a "good" movie, it was very entertaining to see Catherine Hardwicke's interpretation of the novel on the big screen. They used a lot of original lines from the book, but made some good changes as well. There were a couple of scenes that weren't supposed to be funny that got a lot of laughs at the midnight showing, however...
If you haven't read the books, it's a tough call. The first half of the movie might be hard to sit through, as the pacing is kind of slow. The second half should keep you entertained as the suspense picks up. Also, if you're a guy, you might want to skip this one. I saw some pretty miserable boyfriends in the audience.

I thought the movie was great! I loved the casting of the cullens. I think you need to read the books to completely understand all the underlying comments but I went with friends who had not read the book and completely loved the movie. I cant wait for the next three movies!

We went to the opening last night - the theater was filled with teenage girls, some guys, and some crazy moms (who love Edward too), and everyone LOVED it. I know the movie got some bad reviews - but anyone who has read the books, and has fallen in love with the characters will absolutely love this movie. My girls could not stop talking about it the whole way home (even though it was 3:00am). I'm sure we will be seeing it again soon!

Well I loved the books they changed my life. Because I too am a writer and it challenged me into starting my own goals. Twilight is an amazing book. The movie was not what I expected it to be. It moved much to quickly. I mean I understand why because they book is so long. But there where some scenes that I felt where a little cheesy. But I still loved it becuase I was already in love with it before i saw it. If you have read the books I insist you see the movie. Brining your characters to life is moving. It was a good movie and I will see the other three for sure. I expected more but I am happy they even made a movie. I love Twilight I am a fan through and through.

With the books being so good I knew there wasn't any way the movie being only 2 hrs. long would be as good. The movie was good, Rob Pattison makes a very beautiful Edward but I feel his character in the movie was shorted. He was so much more mysterious and "god like" in the book and in the movie you just didn't get to know him as well. I don't think people who haven't read the books will like the movie as much as us who have. The story moved so fast I feel the real feelings between Bella and Edward were missing. Also Jacob was only on screen for 10-15 min. The movie missed key points in the book, like the first time Bella "ran" with Edward, her fainting in the classroom which made Edward start talking to her again.

This movie is amazing! Rob and Kristen's chemistry is so real and believable. Very passionate, sweet movie. I wish they had more scenes from the book but I know that they couldnt cram all the scenes from the book in a 2 hour movie. Definately something for everyone! Romance, drama, action, comedy. Go see it :D

You don't have to read the books before seeing the movie. Three of my friends went to the premiere with me that had never read the books and absolutely loved it!! The book is still better than the movie but it was wayy better than I expected!! I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to ANYONE!!

Edward and Bella were really great. The movie did move WAY to fast - I was not impressed with the writers changes - the "low budget" was very obvious. The movie was pretty choppy - It lacked the "magic" If you enjoy their connection - read the book - it will leave you breathless and craving MORE!! However - the chemistry was hot and their "kiss" was luscious!! Who cares about the story......I could watch Edward all day long!

I can sit here and nit pick the movie for flaws for example Dr Cullens make up they did not explain the powers of Cullen family and relationship between Bella and Alice in more detail But remember that they can not add everything in the book As far as all the characters I like them and liked what they could do with them in a 2 hour movie Rob P. is beautiful as Edward I was very happy that they showed what happens to Edward when he goes in the sunlight I wasn’t sure how they were going to pull that off and he looked gorgeous and he sparkled like diamonds I loved it read the book first you will appreciate and understand what’s going on in the movie a lot better To all the critics read the books so that you know what you are talking about

I really enjoyed seeing this movie. There were a few parts that felt corny. I didn't like the "google it" and "spider monkey". We are talking about a sophisticated vampire from 1901 aren't we? Other than that, it was great.
As I was leaving the sold out theatre I listened to everyone talk and it was all positive. It was definately worth staying up late to see and I will definately see it again!

looking at all the reviews, i honestly am shocked that people actually thought this movie was good (infact, some say it's great?!). The move was terrible! There was no character development and the action was incredibly choppy. If i had not read the books, I wouldn't have known what was going on at all. Even the acting wasn't good. It was a ton of blinking, a ton of studdering, and a ton of stareing. I was very disappointed. It got so bad at parts that it was actually laughable. Even taking it for what is was supposed to be (a movie targeting teenage girls), it was disappointing, not entertaining at all...Pathetic comes to mind

The movie is good. It is not the book and never could be and as long as you know that, you will enjoy it . It does catch the essence of their relationship and covers alot in the book (as much as they can in 2 hours). But it's not book so please know that and don't compare - just enjoy it for what it is.....Edward and Bella on the big screen!

As with nearly every book-to-movie adaptation, "Twilight" glosses over some of the finer points of the novel. All in all, the movie is pretty true to the book. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart deliver, portraying Edward and Bella flawlessly. Alice is spot-on perfect, from her graceful stance to her melodic voice; Rosalie is exactly as she should be; Carlisle, Esme, and the rest of the Cullens are great. Charlie is adorably awkward and lovable, and Bella's friends are straight from the book. Many humorous lines throughout the story. Definitely recommend reading the book first, though.

I was a bit worried about this film, to be honest--the previews made it look kind of fake and the acting didn't look too hot. I was pleasantly surprised, though--it was a very well crafted film, really funny (which was unexpected) and Edward was played exquisitely by Robert Pattinson. Although the movie doesn't quite reach the level of the actual novel, it's definitely worth seeing.

Twilight does well with the danger, teen angst and swooning, but completely leaves out the wit and charm of the character of Edward for 80% of the film. As a result, Bella's character seems like more of an idiot for falling for him as the only attractions are his looks and bad boy status. I'm at a loss for why they left out some of the fun, short and clever exchanges that define these two character's relationship in the books.
That said, I think they nailed the Cullen family and Bella's relationship with her parents. This will mostly satisfy fans, but I think those who have not read the book will be at a loss as to why this relationship is supposedly a romance for the ages.

I only read the first two chapters of the book and went to watch the movie at the midnight showing. The story was well done and the characters played their role well. The vampire, drama, romance got interlaced in a wise way to flow for 2 hours and keep our attention. I am definitely finishing up the entire series and will be there for all the other movies to come. Even if you didn't read the book, you can follow the story. The 2 hours went by very fast and the movie will keep you entertained for the entire 2 hours. It is worth your while to see this movie.

This movie was not amazing, but I expected that. Having low expectations of the movie made it awesome to me but I know that it left out a lot of parts and did a lot out of order, which did make some twilight fans mad.
On another note if you enjoy making fun of the series more then you do praising it. Go see it.

I have OTD.. Obsessive Twilight Disorder. I love the books and the characters and everything that goes on and what these books are about.....
I've been looking foward to this movie for quite some time and I can honestly say, I was not pleased. They changed some of the most important meaningful scenes and this movie actually have some funny points when they shouldn't be there. Where was the passion and romance that the books supply? I hope they do better with New Moon or else I might be one angry person.

Absolutelyyyyyyy lovedddd it...Of course it wasn't as good as the book. At least to me they never are, even Harry Potter....which there happened to be a trailer for during the previews which made the movie even greater!!! I went to the premier and it was awesome. Like someone said, I didn't like how fast it went. It was like things went from here to there and if you haven't read the books you'd be lost. A lot of the inside jokes, you would only understand if you've read the book....and maybe it's just me...but Jacob looks wayyyyyyyyy hotttttter than Edward in this movie which was sort of disappointing only because Edward is supposed to look like some Greek God like in the book and he's just cute in this movie.

The movie was really good. I agree that it moved to fast from one thing to another. Edward was super awkward though and it made it seem like he was slow.... ha. but he's still amazingly hot! I think Kristen Stewart did a great job playing Bella. I would recommend this movie to anyone. I cant wait till they make New Moon and hopefully Eclipse and Breaking Dawn too... as long as they don't change the actors.... because that would be ridiculous and probably awful!

The movie was good because I came in with lots of prior knowledge. I read the books and loved them and all of the characters. What the movie did not do is develop the characters enough to make you believe in them and love them. I feel like a lot was left out and there was a lot of dead space of Edward and Bella staring at each other with no explanation of their feelings. I would recommend to anyone who has read books.

I was highly anticipating the movie Twilight. I've read all the books about 3 times each, and I am honestly just about obsessed.
The movie was okay. I was very disappointed though. I think they made certain scenes way too dramatic (like the meadow scene), and they skipped around too often and too fast. The transitions were too choppy, and the movie definately was not long enough to fit the book.
I think all of the characters did an excellent job. They all fit what I was expecting of them...Bella, Edward, Carlisle, Alice, and James are perfect. Jasper's a bit goofy, and Jacob is a big let down.
But overall, it was a good movie. You definitely have to read the book first to fully understand everything, but I would go see it again.

When i saw all of the trailers i thought that the acting would be bad, but after seeing it last night it was a very good movie. The only thing i saw that was bad was that it went to fast. Rob looked amazing. I think this is a great movie.
