My girl has been obsessed with the books for months and I never understood it. (I'm not a reader) I was really afraid this movie was going to be a chic flick, but I have to say it's the best movie I've seen since "I am Legend".
I dreaded even the thought of going to see this movie, but I was by far wrong.
YOU DONT HAVE TO READ THE BOOKS TO UNDERSTAND as the previous poster suggested. They done a great job at implying what was going on and I'm looking forward to the next.

I went and saw the premiere of Twilight with my daughter and her friend and as teens are they loved the movie hands down. As a 27 year old whose expectations for this movie were incredibly high, I have to admit I was a little disappointed. The movie moved very fast sometimes it seemed shoving 100 pages into 5 minutes. It seemed a little rushed, I feel they should have waited a little longer for the release and made the movie better. However as a die-hard fan of Twilight I have t admit through any flaws I was awed and amazed as I usually am at the creativity and beauty of the story. I would recomend anyone who likes these stories go see it and decide for yourself.

First of all, to the person who said you had to read the books to enjoy this movie- NOT TRUE! Of course I read all the books, but my fiance refused to but really LOVED the movie. He understood it, sure there were some things he might have laughed at a little more or saw something deeper if he read it but no big deal. AMAZING. Yes you boyfriends will love this movie as well!
I am SO incredibly happy with how this movie turned out. I saw it at the midnight showing and was so excited. It did not disappoint one bit! Definitely go see it. Your life will not be complete without it!

some of the lines are a bit corny (i personally love corny). they didn't use the line "stupid shiny volvo owner." but overall, its a perfect movie for all teens, mothers, and college folk alike. if possible, please read the book before seeing this movie. trust me, it will be much more enjoyable, not that it wouldn't if you haven't read the book.

I am an absolute Twilight fan and I thought the movie was good- not great- but good. You absolutely MUST READ the book first if you want to "get" everything in the movie. Now of course movies are never quite as good as the books they're based on, as with this one. It did move kind of fast....if this movie was 4 hours long with more details and story line I would sit through it!!! I can't wait for the next 3!!!

As a Harry Potter fan, I am well aware that movie adaptations of books are frequently disappointing. I was very pleased by Twilight! Kristen Stewart was an amazing choice to play Bella. And what can I say about Robert Pattinson that nobody else has said? Probably nothing. So I'll just repeat: Wow. What a hottie. His American accent was spot on - which is something that I pay close attention to. I cannot wait for "New Moon".

i went to see this last night and i was extremely disappointed. the effects were bad. the acting was terrible. bella and edward's acting was awkward and just plain bad. i love the books but honestly it was a terrible movie. The one good thing is that it does follow the book pretty well but the movie itself wasn't any good. the script was cheesy. any of the words that were added that werent in the book were bad too. I'm disappointed and I hope that it doesn't reflect on the books.

I had never read a book that I feel in love with as fast as the twilight books. But this movie was terrible. All the action was shortened to about 5 minutes. They hardly talk about how Edward can read minds, Alice and Bella don't ever talk, they never mention Jasper has a power, they hardly focus on the Cullins at all, the make the vampires powers seem super different (like they fly and they don't have super hearing or smell that much), and many other problems. I honestly can't see how Myers will be happy with this. I think they'll make a squeal but the production company will drop the director. The worst part is they move things along so fast and make things so funny that the love between Bella and Edward feels forced and weird.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I was worried that the movie wouldnt live up to the book but I definitely was not disappointed! I thought the casting of the characters was perfect and no one but Robert Pattinson could have played a better Edward Cullen! He is beautiful and perfect in the movie just as he is described in the book. Of course the movie was a little different from the book but thats to be expected...but like I said I luved it and cant wait for it to come out on dvd! Just might see it again in the theatres! Enjoy twilighters!

I went and saw the premiere last night, and it was pretty good except that I agree with the last person, that it went really quickly. I guess I think that they left out A LOT of the dialogue. I think the actor that was playing Jacob wasn't acting very good. I do understand that they had to change a bunch of things for it to make to make sense to people, but I think they took out too much and made some of the dialogue not make sense if you understand what the intent was.
Lastly, if you've read the book, you should go see it. If you haven't read the book, you should go see it. It's a VERY good movie and a VERY good series, and I think it was a good movie, there was just a lot that they left out that I thought were important parts.

This movie was soooo good! Everytime Edward came on to the screen all the fangirls and guys would giggle and sigh. The movie was so romantic that i just want to find "my edward" and make out with him.
I do think the movie was made for the fans of the books because i went with people that didn't read them and they had alot of questions.
I was not disapointed at all with the movie... It was amazing and i think everyone should go see it!

I really expected to not like this movie because of the behind the scenes shots that I saw. When I saw the movie though, it was totally different than I had expected. We all know that books are better than the movies, but this movie wasn't really that messed up. Yeaaah, some scenes were cheesy, but stuff that's in the book isn't easily created on film.
All in all, it's pretty good. :]

I highly recommend reading the first book before you see the movie, because there are a lot of parts that only readers will fully understand. People who haven't read the book will also confuse the awkward scenes and interactions among characters with bad acting...but the actors very accurately portray the characters in the book, at least in my opinion. Everyone is pretty awkward in a cute a comical way in the book and the movie captures this perfectly. I thought a lot of parts were hilarious and the more romantic scenes were done well. Nothing major was changed in the transition to the big screen which is comforting for us book fans, and overall I'd recommend this movie to everyone! =]

I thought there were a lot of parts in the movie that were added that weren't in the book that didn't need to be there. There were a few scenes that were just goofy and unneccesary as well. However, as an avid fan of the books, I thought they did a descent job. At least they didn't totally butcher the books like they did with the Harry Potter series.

'Twilight', the movie, remains utterly faithful to its source material, skipping over some trivial things of course, and speeding up the pace for the action induced visual affect. Edward and Bella's relationship moves quicker than the back and forth the book provides, but the chemistry and sexual tension is SPOT ON! That total emotional engrossment that readers cling to is brought to the screen through teen awkwardness that flavors every High School encounter...in a good way.
And the KISS.... everyone has been going on about it, it is EVERYTHING and MORE! See it for yourself. All I can say.
All in all, diehards will NOT be disappointed and newcomers will be drawn into the action and intensity that is Twilight.

I really really loved this movie. i thought summit did a wonderful job at condensing the 500 or so page book into 2 hours and not having an enormous budget. The initial story line was carried out beautifully and kristen and rob had magnificent chemistry with each other. I recommend everyone including guys to go see this movie. the fight scene and the baseball scene will keep the guys entertained and the amazing love story will keep the girls ecstatic. I really hope they turn the three remaining books into movies. i am going to see twilight at least 3 more times. :-)

After reading the book Twilight, the movie was a little disappointing. Too many important details were left out. I felt that Edward spent a lot of time staring at Bella, and the camera hovered on that. In order to preserve the PG13 rating, I felt as though the fight scene was a bit too tame. I believe that anyone who didn't read the book may have gotten lost at some points. Also, there seemed to be an attempt to be more like a comedy than necessary.

I have found that movies made from books are generally no where near as good as the book, so my expectations for the movie twilight were low. The finished product was a delightful surprise! In truth, I did enjoy the book more. However, the team did an excellent job of taking the essentials of the story from the book, adding in some nice humor and a few scenes to explain things, and sticking fairly close to the original story.
The acting was GREAT! I felt scared and confused along with Bella, frustrated and angry along with Edward, incredibly anxious for the kiss with them both! I thoroughly enjoyed all the performances by all the actors!
This was a GREAT movie and I look forward to seeing Eclipse next! (I hope they will make it!)

I'm a fresh newcomer fan. I decided to take my friend to the midnight show because she's really into the Saga. As for me, I was curious...until I decided to read Twilight before the day of the event. As I finished the last chapter, I became more anxious to see the movie! I was NOT at all disappointed!
BUT I do recommend reading the book first! It really helps you get into Bella's thoughts a little better than the movie. Then you can know when the heart throbbing moments are when she's speechless!
It was such a great experience, waiting in line, meeting anxious fans, and all of US enjoying it as one big fan group in the theater!

Ok so of course the book was better! The movie was good and the characters lived up to my expectations but the movie moved too fast and could have been another hour to make sure to include more of the book. Also the special effects were a little BAD-I guess if they make a lot of money on this one then they can use it for the next movies and get better effects--The only disappointment was the "meadow" scene--I expected more sparkles!! It was worth a see-but book was better!

This movie was very disappointing. The Cullens were hardly in the movie and James and Victoria never hunted in town in the book! and also the part where Edward was sparkling was so corny! and Bella and Edward did not seem like they were even in love they weren't convincing at all!they left alot of the good lines out of the movie to And the part with Stephanie in it was very corny it was just overall disappointing i didn't even go into the movie with high expectations i hope if they do another movie Stephanie writes the screen play. I don't want to see them butcher new moon or eclipse or god forbid breaking dawn like they did Twilight. I still love the books though and i always will

If you have read the books you would enjoy the movie, although it is not 100% with the book it is close. Some of the characters where exactly like I thought they would look. A few hookie parts but over all a good movie. Nice to see a teen movie not filled with sex, nudity, and violence.

As a devoted fan to the Twilight series, I was very nervous about seeing the premier. I was afraid they were going to kill the book very much to how they killed Eragon. But I absolutely LOVED the movie. It followed the book very, very well. There were some cheesy points that the director added in to add drama and the "essence of love", but it just made me laugh. I loved, loved, loved this movie! However, I do recommend reading the book first. You don't have to, you'll still love the movie I believe, but it helps. :]
