Good, but read the book first

The movie was REALLY good, but please, really don't see the movie before you watch the book. But other wise, it was funny, and reallly good!!!! It will only be OK if you dont read the book.

twilight was a great movie, it like most book to screen movies, did cut out some parts. but overall it showed a likeness to the book. the charaters where well chooses, it was both funny, sad, sweet, and cute, but overall enjoyable.

Missing

Too much of the beginning of the book was missing in the movie. There was little interaction between Bella and the other kids at her high school. The scene was even missing when Edward asked Bella to eat with him at lunch. The connection between Bella and Edward did not seem to take the time it took in the book nor did it seem to reach the magnitude. The meadow scene lacked and the famous dazzle line was absent. The acting, however, was excellent. Unfortunately, if I did not read the book, I would not have understood the movie.

I've never read the books, but after watching this movie it has made me want to read the series. I never wanted the movie to end because it was so GOOD! Everyone should go see it, even my boyfriend liked it. Can't wait for the next ones =D

I didn't think about the book at all when I was watching the movie. The movie quoted from the book a lot and it was GOOD.
It was exceeded my expectations.
The trailers fool you.
They reshot almost all of the scenes from the trailers or changed the camera's view during the scene.
It turned out to be so much better.
I just hope they don't shoot sequels 'cause then they'll have to shoot Breaking Dawn, and I didn't think the book was necessary and some parts were 'ew.'
But anyway, you GOT to watch the movie. You won't walk out disappointed.

I very much liked the movie. I went into it not expecting it to be nearly as good as the books but was happy with it still. I would only have wished that they would have spent a bit more time showing the developement of the bonds of the love and characters. I was overall happy enough with the movie to be going again tomorrow with another set of friends that want to go. I'm a die-hard Twilighter at 36 years old. I have to say... this series is not just for the teenie boppers. It's a great love story... with action and suspense. I pray for the sequels and hope that they continue to improve on showing the story that is in the books!! Go Catherine Hardwick and Stephanie Meyer!! I'm a "Team Edward" player!!

This was a really good movie although they did rush a lot of important scenes. You should definitely read the book first because they leave some really important details out of the story. All the characters at her new school are somewhat pushy compared to the books. The relationship between Bella and Edward is also made to seem slightly awkward but it works really well. However, I loved their portrayal of Jasper and Emmett. Jackson Rathbone (Jasper) does a wonderful job of being wary of Bella because he is the newest 'vegetarian'. Although it seemed somewhat rushed, this was a great movie. I recommend it to every one who has read the books.

At first I thought that the movie wouldn't be that good since the books are always so much better than the movies, but I was wrong. The movie is just as good as the book. I went with a friend to see the movie and she hadn't ever read the book and I had to explain a couple things to her but other than that she understood everything and totally loved the movie. This movie is honestly, the best movie I have ever seen. I can't wait till they come out with the sequel.

i saw the midnight showing and when i walked out i was so disappointed and upset because i hated it. the books were amazing. but the 21st i saw it again and was ok with it. i thought some scenes were very awkward and the school kids were way to immature. i thought the cullen family did OUTSTANDING and james/victoria/laurent did awesome as well. Over all, the movie did ok, it could of done better. But i know the second one will be amazing. Hopefully all the awkward scenes would be gone.

Excellent Fun

This was really fun, I loved the creative feeling that it exuded, with their low-budget options. The casting I could rave about all day, they really chose actors well. I was very disappointed with Edward in the sunlight, I felt like everytime he went into the sun, they made him look blurry. I also missed that neither Bella nor Edward tells the other they love each other. Not to mention a vast amount of dialogue they completely left out, which is what made the book so magical for me, so this made the character development questionable. But overall, if you don't overanalyse this, its really excellent, and quite amazing to see Stephenie Meyers work acted out!

The best under the circumstances

I am a big fan of the books. I get that it's really tough to funnel a 500 page book (full of seemingly insignificant details) into a 2 hour movie. BUT, I went with my husband, who has never read the book, and he came away wondering "and WHY do they love each other so much? I don't get it??"
That's the big issue I have with the movie. Husband and I both agree Peter Facinelli was the best actor in the joint and we would have liked to have seen more of him.
Bottom line: if you love the books, you will like this movie and it will make sense. Otherwise, it leaves something to be desired as far as emotional depth.

If you're not a true Meyer fan, it may not appeal to you. It's a teen love story, not a vampire flick ... an old-fashioned romance. The first book is more thought and feeling so I can see how it would be difficult to put that into movie version. It was so dreamy and fabulous and the characters were everything I thought they would be. Even the guy who plays Bella's dad acted the way I imagined him too. It was brilliant. The actors really stepped up and came through.
desperately awaiting the next 3 films!!!

I thought this movie was great. I did like it, but it rushed into things too much. The book has more detail in it and when you watch the movie your like what the hell is happening? if you havent already read the book. Edward and Bella fall in love way too fast and it doesnt show that much how hard it is for Edward and also Bella at some points.

Even though they rushed into things i still think it is a good movie. The concept of the movie was great and watching it was great too because since it wasnt like the book it had a some-what suspense in it.

Overall I think people should go see it because it was great. i'm going to see it again which shows it is great :)

For a movie that was so hyped and characters that were much richers in the books than on screen, Twilight was an entertaining movie if you like to be on someone else's date. Kristen Stewart was a one trick pony. She had a pained, somewhat scared look throughout most of the movie that was old after a while. Robert Pattison was hot and a bit less limited in his range of emotion but I felt like the movie was a re-run of date after same date. I would hope the next movie would explore the richness of the characters. After this one I may not give the second one a chance until it comes out on DVD.

Terrible overacting by the entire cast including Robert Pattinson, who I love. Kristen Stewart played a terrible Bella, when she was stuttering in the hospital "d-d-don't l-l-leave m-m-e-e" I wanted to cry it was so unbelievably bad. The scene changes were choppy and uncoordinated at best. There was no chemistry or fluidity. They fit a whole lot of nothing into 2 hours. The effects were as cheesy as the acting and made me laugh out loud. I never want to see it again. I am especially disappointed in Stephanie Meyer whose appearance in and involvement with the movie was a clear sign of approval. How could she think that was good?

Although this movie did change a few things and a few parts were a little awkward it was still wonderful. It had a lot of funny parts, though I suspect some parts wern't supposed to be. The actors did great and played their characters amazingly. Definately worth the money.

Overall if you are a Twilight fan you will love this movie, no question about it.

I am a 53 yr old male, and I dont have daughters. I read the book, and I was surprised how closely the movie followed the book. I thought the cast did their jobs very well. I really liked the young indian boy Jacob.
Bella and Edward had good chemistry. I wish Carlisle's history would have been brought out more. It was cool the way the evil vampires came or walked on the ball field. The tree scene was specatular.

This movie was great it is true that it goes fast but if you read the book you go back and know exactly how they were feeling. Specially the magical and inexplicable love that Bella and Edward had. Personally I imagine Forks exactly as it was in the movie and the High School teens that were Bella's friends. I feel that they try to make every detail perfect which did come through in the screen. The ending was great if you haven't read the books you would understand that Victory is coming back for revenge. Overall I though the movie was amazing it was believable I felt excited in every moment of the movie going back with what I felt when I read the books. Can't wait for New Moon. (=

The movie was great. Even though the movie pulled a little farther away from the book at times, it was tastefully done and captured the book's text VERY well. The actors portrayed the charachters well and definitly brought them to life. If you haven't gone to see it, PLEASE DO!!

I loved the whole Twilight book series. The movie was funny, exciting, & romantic. I was disappointed w/ the meadow scene since that is one of the most important parts of the book. I loved the kissing scenes and it was fun to hear all the teenage girls swoon in the theatre. I will go see this movie again and I look forward to New Moon coming to the theatre.

i agree that you will enjoy this movie much more if you have read the book. the books are an easy read so read the book before you go to the movie. i went with four ladies who knew nothing about the series and i'm sure they did not enjoy the movie as much as i did. i do think they enjoyed it but there is no way that they could get all of it without having read the book. i thought the movie was a bit slow in the beginning - i think i was nervous after bringing these ladies' with me. tho' afterward i realized that we were being introduced to each character before the action started. I was just so excited for the real action to begin! . . . there is so much more story to come. . . as the next movies come out.

Worth The wait in line

With the enticing and somewhat overwhelming visuals, Twilight was a wonderful thrill ride of a movie and the characters jumped off the page and screen and into your heart. The music added to the experience and the acting was wonderful and subtle. Reading the book first is always a great idea for any movie adaptation and that only adds to the enjoyment. Worth the wait in line with all ages tweens to grandpas.

Melissa Rosenberg did a wonderful job of condensing the book into a movie. There were a few scenes that I wish were included in the movie, but overall it was excellent! Rob Pattinson is a perfect portrayal of Edward and Kristen Stewart played Bella beautifully. The rest of the Cullen family was great, Charlie was casted just right and everyone else was wonderful. It brought the book to life just as I had pictured it. And Catharine Hardwicke did an excellent job of putting it all together. Love love LOVED the movie!!! I can't wait to see it again and again and again! I'd watch it once a day for the next few weeks if I could!!! :)

Wow it was awesome!

This was the first movie in my 53 yrs of life that I could not wait to see. I watched it last night at the 7:00 showing with my 15 yr. old granddaughter and her best friend, and it was more than I expected. I do agree that if you haven't read the book that you won't get the jokes. I am proud to say that I am addicted to the the whole saga and have read each book. Twilight, I've read six times. The movie itself was done so carefully that I would take my nine year old grandson to see it. There are no blood and guts scenes, except one quick shot of Edward with a lttle blood near his mouth, but that was done in a very quick flash of a dream sequence. Now, I can't wait for it to come out on DVD!
