This certainly wasn't what I thought a Disney holiday movie to be. Overall, the animation was stunning and I must admit, at times it scared me! It was true to the book, which surprised me for a Disney flick and I would have to say I was impressed. However, I WOULD NOT recommend this movie to anyone with little children. I believe it would be too scary and the old fashioned British style language might be a little hard for them to understand.

I personally did not like this movie. I thought the ending was terrible. The dialect is preserved which is probably the best thing about the movie. The animation is top-notch and the vfoice acting is very well done. My entire family loved this movie, but I personally did not enjoy it. I recommend it to everyone, especially large families with ranging ages, but I expected more from the ending then I got. Maybe I just went into it too picky.

I took 2 kids, age 7 and 12. The 3 D effects could have been better, the speaking voices were not clear enough in some scenes and it was a very slow moving film. For a Disney film I was very disappointed. One of the kids (7 yr old) laughed once and giggled twice.....i think the 12 year old played with her cellphone......wasn't worth the price.

Anyone who knows this story should know that it has some dark moments and therefore might not be great for young children. That said Disney does tame down most of the scary stuff. But I still would not recommend this one for kids under 7 - especially in 3D for intensity. Overall this was a very enjoyable movie. The effects were great and as always Jim carrey did a great job as Scrooge. I will enjoy seeing this for many years to come!!

Excellent overall! A lot to take in. Very good musical score. The sets were were well researched and remarkably like 1840's London. See it before taking kids under 9 or so. There were many crying children in the theater. A little too much flying around and It was a bit long with the 3rd qhost ( as in most versions) and I could have done without the "little" Scrooge but I'm sure it was to showcase the outstanding 3D!

The nuances in the story, the 3D high tech look, all of these things and more make this new view of the Dickens Classic a fantastic show! Iheard people of all ages in the theatre laughing ou tloud and gasping at different times. It is a tribute to the Classic Dickens itself and will make it new again to yet another generation!

"A Christmas Carol" is awesome! I accompanied 2 six year olds and a 11 year old. They were scared of some of the ghosts which valdates the realistic animation. There was great detail in this movie. Young and old in my party thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Look forward to seeing it again.

I was not expecting much from this version of a timeless classic -- but I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, it was a true adaptation from Dickens' original -- but a shorter version. The 3D was amazing -- it just gets better with each movie experience. I did see it with my kids (ages 14, 12 and 8). It was scary -- especially toward the end. I would not bring squeamish kids or littler than 8.

This film was awesome. Not for small children. Most of it was scary but good if you are older. My favorite scene was the horses. No matter how much you got away, they always followed. They fit anywhere. I wish it was longer. For instance, showing Little Tom's family when they received the turkey and having dinner...

I did not see this movie with small children and can't speak to the effect it may have on young kids. But, as adults and teens, we all enjoyed this version of one of my favorite Christmas stories. I agree with the review that spoke of too much flying around. I found myself getting motion sickness and couldn't wait for him to just get to his destination. Otherwise, I found the movie entirely enjoyable.

Our family of 2 adults & a 14 & 12 year old went to see this movie. It was a delightful, thought provoking movie. I will agree that young children may not enjoy it because it uses the old formal language more of Dicken's day and may just bore them because it's not jam packed w/ typical Carrey zaniness, but I highly doubt it's too scary...there were young children in our theater and NONE cried or left as others stated. The digital 3D experience was nothing less than incredible!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The 3D effects were very good, but there was too much "flying around" and not enough story. Disney left out so much good about Tiny Tim. The evil graphics were too much for a small child and could cause fear. I could only recommend the 3D.

I have seen many versions of this classic story and was very disappointed. We went to see this as a family with my three teenage and adult children with their dates hoping to have an enjoyable evening. There were many younger families with small children that I felt sorry for as most of this movie was terrifying and probably gave them nightmares. It may have been great in the special effects category but what was Disney thinking marketing this to families with small children. Worse yet during the holidays????? They should apologize to the public and return the money to every unsuspecting family that was victimized by their poor idea of a family film.

My expectations were low going into this movie but the story, dialogue, plot, voice work and incredible 3D animation really "knocked it outta the park"! Kudos to everyone involved! I was shocked to see how well Jim Carrey did with Scrooge! So often, in recent movies, he lets his goofy, elastic and comedic personality overwhelm the role....and in this movie he submissively allows Zemeckis and his team to control and direct him....to great success! The movie has too many intense scary scenes for children under 10 and perhaps should have been PG13. I love watching 3D snow in Zemeckis animated movies so much I think he should do a 60 minute snow HD DVD in 3D for home viewing! Bravo to all of the creative team!

I am a collector of the Christmas Carol movie starting with the 1933 version. This movie is worthy of being added to my collection. The advantage this movie has is that with animation the effects during the time Scrooge has with the three spirits are phenominal plus it being in 3D completes the package. Well done Disney Studios, this deserves an academy nomination!
