This movie was so amazing, I went back and saw it again. I don't know how Disney did it, but it was realistic, graphic yet classy at the same time. It took my breath away. I actually applauded. Jim Carrey deserves an award for his performance as Scrooge. It was a feast for the eyes and the ears with Andrea Bocelli's culminating song. I'm not sure if little children should see it, but anyone over 10 should see it. It's true to the book. It really put me in the Christmas spirit.

We took our 3 & 5 yr old grandkids to see this movie. It was terrifying for both of them, that said, the four adults that went loved this 3D film! Jim Carey did an amazing job but leave the little ones at home.

Jim Carrey is a comedic genius and his acting was superb as usual. The story line was hard to follow and that was surprising.
The animation was amazing but even that did not compensate for the tedious pace. Of course the changed Scrooge was wonderful. I guess Jim Carrey did too good of a job making Scrooge unlikable ( I Guess that is called good acting).
I would recommend the movie to adults but with the caveat of it being slow and too scary for children.

This 3-D movie was very well done and impressive. We took our 3 children ages 11, 6, and 6. They all loved the movie. They thought the 3-D was cool and the 6-year-olds followed the story because of it. It is just beautiful. We loved the Christmas music thoughout. We sat through the credits just to listen to Andrea Bocelli sing at the end. Jim Carrey was wonderful.

Animation and 3d effects were AMAZING. however, the movie was slow in parts and kinda deep. If I didn't know the story i would have been lost. There were parts that were scary, i wouldn't think this is a kids movie.

The animation was the best I had ever seen. It was really amazing. Great 3D as well. But having Jim Carey as far too many characters was distracting and then tedious. I could not have imagined taking a small child to this movie either, far too scary. My advice, get your 3D thrills elsewhere and stay home and watch the Muppets' Christmas Carol, far better version.

Had to be one of the best adaptations of the book. It's a must see in 3D because when your flying around it looks so real and in some parts the snow was falling all around you witch was cool.

Saw the movie with my entire family (ages 78-10). Dragged a little a couple of times, but for the most part , we all really enjoyed it. Yes, there are a couple of scary parts, but ghosts ARE (big surprise here......) scary! One thing to know, if you suffer from motion sickness you might want to take a Dramamine before watching the 3D version. While the effects are super - a few of us had reactions to the flying scenes (headache, dizzy, nauseated.)

This is not a Christmas Carol for kids (from Disney!), as the title suggests. It's a horror movie for teenagers. 95% of the movie is packed with very scary effects depicting ghosts and death. My 8-year old son said if he knew what this movie is about, he would never go. Some kids were asking to go home too. 3D didn't impress me either. It was kind of blurry and hard on the eyes. Go only if you are an adult and like computer effects.

The 3D animation was awesome! I was impressed with how much of the actors were put into the animated characters. Although there is still a bit of unnatural features to them and the "dead eyes" problem still needs to be worked on. The story is very dark, but that's exactly the way the book is. I do agree that there were some deeper parts of the story that should have been included. I think that those parts were sacrificed for the 3D effects and for budget reasons. Parents should consider that this is a very graphic and scary movie before taking thier kids. Perhaps familiarizing them with the actual book would help. Overall, it was a very good adaptation.

Disney's A Christmas Carol is dark and depressing. It did not capture the Christmas spirit at all and it is definitely not a kids movie. The script was a poorly done remake of the Alastair Sim version. Other than the visual effects this was a totally unoriginal and pointless production.

@DisneyPictures #SCROOGE is a disappointment. Dark, boring, not "Christmasy". This movie is too scary for young kids and shortchanges the story in favor of special effects. We buy almost every Christmas movie for our collection but we definitely will not be buying this one because, quite frankly, we don't ever want to see it again.

Jim Carrey was excellent. The movie was really great. Some of the effects are really gross--Marley's ghost was rough. The 3 D was magical. The story really plunges along. I was worried about bringing children. I did-5, 7 and 9. It was a bit much for 5 & 7. 9 year old loved it. I was really pleasantly surprised. I cried. Go see it!

This movie was breathtaking in theattention to detail and use of 3D and animation. It is the standard Christmas Carol, however, rather overdone for me, but worth seeing for the fabulous characters and artistic use of animation. My 7 year old was scared, since the ghosts were very realistic and in your face with the 3D. I would really say only OK for age 10 and above.

We took our eight- and four-year-old sons to this movie yesterday. The eight-year-old enjoyed it but it was a bit dark for the four-year-old. I actually enjoyed the darkness of the animation, which was wonderful, and appreciated that the animated characters actually look like the actors who are voicing them. The 3-D animation is truly a marvel in this film. My big complaint though is the score, which uses Christmas carols willy-nilly throughout, seemingly without any thought to how the text of the carol relates to the action the music is supposed to be accompanying. But an enjoyable holiday film overall, both for adults and older children.

I think they all know that with the glass on(dark glass most likely). the screen needs to be a little brighter, otherwise. people can not really see. It is so hard actually, we really can not see a lot of details. I love the story of "A Christmas Carol" and I was excited to take my family to see this movie. However, It was a big disappointment for me. While this movie did more closely follow the original storyline of the Charles Dickens story, it spent too much time emphasizing the 3D effects. Parents be warned, this is probably not a small child's movie. Some of the animation was freaky and distracting. The flying around & carriage chase scenes could have been cut in half & it still would have had great 3D effect. There were important elements of the story left out in favor of things that would wow in 3D. It was just disappointing for someone that LOVES this story.

Dickens wrote a ghost story, not a Christmas story in "A Christmas Carol" and its been too long since someone realized it. This time around the movie sticks with Dickens pretty closely.
Jim Carrey gives a wonderful performance as not only Scrooge but as the ghosts of Christmas past and present. The 3D is absolutely eye popping and the action never stops.
It is not a show for little kids, but the story is neither. The book is about mortality and what to do with the brief life each of us has been given. In that respect this version succeeds with gusto.
A Christmas Carol is a rollicking thrill ride, an artistic triumph and true to Dickens' book all at the same time and that's a delightful gift for any Christmas.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The 3D effects were great but the story was way to dark...especially for a 6 year old. There were some scary parts that scarred me also. I didn't care for the similarity of polar express. You could definitely tell that the creators of polar express did this movie. Save your money and wait for it to come out on DVD if you must see it.

In the past years, I've seen several versions of this movie, this one just didn't do it for me. The past version always manages to put me in the christmas spirit, not this one. This one was just too bland, I took my niece and grand daughter, they complained that a couple of the scenes were scary, they are 8 and 9 respectively.

I loved it so did my mother and my 2 nieces. Our ages ranged from 6 - 64 and everyone enjoyed the movie. It felt like the snowflakes were fallen on my nose and the characters were in the room with us. It made me feel like a child again at Christmas time. A MUST SEE! I will go again.
