Excellent effects in this movie. The 3D really made an old story new again.
I would caution bringing younger kids to this movie as there are some pretty intense scenes. My 10 yr old was ok, but my 7 yr olds kept their eyes closed for much of the movie.
Otherwise it was a worthy afternoon.

It's a challenge to present the Christmas Carol in a fresh way but Disney did it. Older patrons may get a bit motion sick-I did. But great fun none the less.

Movie came across as more of a 3D gimmick than delving into the story and plot lines. Very slow moving, with pretty much the same FX in past present and future. Felt too scary for young children. Would not recommend

You people couldn't complain anymore about such an awesome movie. If you wanna see a cute version of the Christmas Carol then go home and watch the Dora and Swiper Christmas Carol Special on TV right now! Theycharacters weren't creepy enough that my 3 year old couldn't see it. Hello people PG-13 means kids age 13 and older!! So why complain now parents?? I have loved the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens my entire life and I think this was an amazing version. It wasn't this cute fuzzy story you'd all been hoping for, but that doesn't by any means make this movie worthy of less then 5 stars.

Where do I start? First off this was supposed to be a family movie. The movie opens with Scrooge pulling coins off of a corpse. Over and over there was one disturbing image after another. And since when is there a chase scene in Dickens?
One of the worst movies I've ever seen!

It's not the best rendition of Dickens, but it is one of the closest. I actually get them credit for having the balls to actually go through with some of the original lines from A Christmas Carol. Good times, heart warming at times, and definitely not a comedy.

I took my three 7 year olds to this movie thinking it would be consistent with it's previews of a family holiday classic. It is NOT for children under 13. It really should be a PG-13 movie. Although it's a "cartoon" the graphic nature of dead bodies etc. NOT for kids.

Whether or not you like the Disney-fication of this timeless classic, this is a must see just for the animation. Honestly, it is so amazing that you almost think you can smell what is in front of you. The story is fun with the 3D aspects' you can see every wrinkle, age spot and hair on Scrooge's face, you can absolutely feel the emotional pain on Cratchets's face. Jacob Marley is the kind of ghost you never hope to see. But, careful, viewers, about the age group or ability to handle ghosts because it is a little scary in the beginning with Jacob Marley and with the whole section from the end of Christmas present right on through the ghost of Christmas yet to come. Of course the happy ending wipes it all away.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Destined to be revived forever, always around Christmas, this film is a masterpiece of story-tellilng and technological brilliance: 3-D, soundtrack. Plus, Jim Carrey's portrayal of around six characters is Academy Award calibre. Too scary for little kids, as was the original Dickens--but, hey, the story is SUPPOSED to scare the h-e-l-l (literally) out of you, and replace it with the heaven within you! Works for Scrooge, for me, for anyone entertained and enlightened by this classic story now told in a classic film for all times!

This was definitely the best rendition of the classic Dickens' tale that I've ever seen. It was humorous, frightening, and heartwarming. You could feel Scrooge's anguish and even sympathize with the old miser. The animation was top-notch, too. I loved watching the 3-D presentation and looking all around the screen, noticing and appreciating all the details that the animation provided.

My wife and I took our 7 and 5 year old girls to see this film yesterday for our annual Christmas tradition. Jim Carry did a fantastic job and the quality of the animation was second to none. Our only complaint was that for an animated movie, which parents like us will want to take their children to, it was unnecessarily scary at times. We took our kids to see A Christmas Carol play last year, and were a bit concerned about it being too scary, and this film was dramatically more frightening. Our kids handled it ok, and there were no bad dreams last night, but if you have young ones who scare easily, I would hold off on taking them.

Disney's A Christmas Carol is a Great Movie to see with the whole family. There are some parts that will make you jump but it keeps you interested in the story line and the Characters involved with the story. Jim Carrey was Great playing all the spirits and the versions of Scrooge from old to young and Back again. Robert Zemeckis Directed this with the notion of keeping the Characters they Charles Dickens Wrote them to be.
This movie Is one that I would Add to my personal movie library when it's released.

This movie provides a fabulous retelling of the classic story using modern technology. Jim Carrey, starring role, provides an excellent portrayal of the old miser Scrooge. The graphics used in the movie makes you feel like your taking the ride with Jim Carrey. Well worth seeing with your whole family and worth owning when it comes out to DVD and Blu-ray in the future.

Amazing graphics and effects! Definitely not for young children....quite frightening, especially to a child expecting the typical Christmas movie. We were mesmerized by the work involved and thought Jim Carrey's fright and wonder never got "old", truly a special actor and special movie celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. Initially, I wasn't enthused about going to see another version of "A Christmas Carol", but am now writing a review of one of the best movies seen to date!

I agree with previous reviews that I have read. My daughter maybe saw 10 minutes of the movie because she covered her eyes the rest of the time. At the end the horse carriage chase was unrelenting and this was not a fun movie. It was uncomfortable and scary. Not the message I wanted from a Chrismas Carol.

Unlike previous attempts to adapt A Christmas Carol to the screen, Zemeckis' adaptation stayed very close to the original, and departed only with a depiction of Scrooge's torment going through London in an attempt to dsescape his own hearse. It is an intense and dark version of the tale, which makes it unsuitable for young children. I found it engrossing and entertaining, but some will find it excessive.

I can laugh at a lot of things therefore the humorous parts were humorous, but the dark parts were DARK, TOO DARK...AND TOO MUCH OF IT!!!!! The story never really lets up until the ending. It was like being stuck on Disney World's "Space Mountain" ride with evil characters popping out at you for an hour and 35 minutes straight then for the remaining 1 min. somebody turned on the light! My 18 year old and my 12 year old saw the majority of the movie from behind their hands which were covering their faces most of the way...you just didn't know what was coming! this was supposed to be a CHRISTMAS carol....WHAT? Glad we left the 10 yr. old at home with dad!
