This film was EXCELLENT and a perfect holiday film!!! The special effects were awesome with "wonderful 3-D affects". The story was kept true, while Jim Carrey masterfully portrayed each character. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this film and we'll be getting the DVD when it comes out.

This movie was full of excellent effects and was a great take on the classic. However, it was not the comedy that was portrayed in the commercials. It is true to Dickens classic and I highly recommend seeing it. This movie is probably not for children below the age of 13. Again, this was a great movie, just not as advertised.

The visual 3D effects were stunning and of great quality. I agree that some scenes might be too startling for the youngest to see. However, the storyline was followed quite nicely making the experience enjoyable. My regret was not being able to identify the actor's faces (Carrey) and most of the local townspeople seemed too similar in facial appearance. Otherwise, applause at the finish indicated the audience's enjoyment. This is one I want to see how it was made.

This was a well made film. However it could have been a bit brighter at the end. We all know the story. It is a bit dark. But the end could have used some special effects that made you feeling well fed. The movie dragged at the beginning. It should have spent more time at the end.

A decent remake of a classic. Special effects are out of this world. Parts of the story a bit Scary for for kids. My 9 yr old closed her eyes during many parts. And she's pretty tough. Wish they'd had spent more time on the "Good" side of Scrooge. Worth the $$$ to see at the movies with the 3D.

Just when you thought they could not do another re-make of this movie and hold your interest, Disney comes along and adds their special magic to it. I do agree it is too scary for younger children. We went with a 10 year old that enjoyed it and looks forward to seeing it again. This will be added to our "Classics" list and a "much watch" every Holiday.

This was a great take on the classic Dickens story, and the 3-D animation was fabulous. This is NOT a movie for small children, however. Not only was it scary at times (albeit appropriately so, in my opinion), but it also used a lot of Dickens' original 19th century dialogue, so much of what the characters say is likely over younger kids' heads. That being said, if you like this story, it's a must see!

The 3D effects did not work well. The opening titles produced a cross-eyed effect. The 3D effects never rose to past efforts of other movies. This movie was not aimed at smaller children. The classical dialogue seemed to be lifted closely out of Dickens' book, best appreciated by high school age and above. The good actors would have been better used without the high-tech, forced animation. Our 5 yr. old and 8 yr. old were bored silly. We do not recommend this film to friends and family.

We went to the Disney train promotion and kind of knew what to expect. The movie was excellent and the 3D was AMAZING! My 8 year old was scared during parts. It is a lot like Haunted Mansion as I remember it as a child. Not really freaky but just unusual and something he was not used to. How many times have you been to a movie where there was applause afterwards? This was one of them! Can't wait to own it!

Disney has exceeded the high standards we usually expect from them. Making a marvelous movie out of an story which has been made into a movie at least a dozen times, the presentation of the charactors and representations of the spirits and their visions to Scooge were excellent. The 3-D experience was fantastic in the digital mode. The soaring above 19th century London was wonderful.

This story is my absolute favorite of all time. I have seen the Christmas Carol in every form from a 1932 version to the flintstone's. I Love it. I thought this movie version was very very good. It was entertaining and Jim Carrey was amazing in it. I have two small complaints which is why I did not give the film 5 stars. One, I did not like when Scrooge shrunk down in size, I understood why it was done but did not like it. More importantly, this movie was really scary, particularly with the 3-D feature. I took my seven year old and my ten year old and they closed their eyes and hid their faces alot during this movie. I think it was a little over the top with the scary. I did enjoy the film immensely.

The animation and 3D were terrific! That being said, Carrey overacts some of the roles. He does a fine job as scrooge but some of the "spirits" are odd and creepy. It is however, worth the money to experience.

Disney goes all out again with amazing effects and realistic characters. Great for older kids and adults, but my 7 year old and her friend were scared through a majority of the second half. It has the feel good ending, but it is slightly less due to the dark nature of the film. The dialog was very close to the book which added to the story. Go and see it, but prepare to have the younger kids on your lap!

We took the family out opening night to see this movie and were totally thrilled! The animation was fantastic and it was like watching the characters themselves in the movie. The only thing and it was very minor is my 8 year old son sometimes got lost in the dialogue with the use of the language that is more true to the original story. However some fill in from mom and dad and it was fine.
This is sure to be another Disney classic!!

This movie is not for kids. Very scary for my 7 and 8 year old. The lighting in the movie is very dark which made it seem difficult to see the characters. It was often difficult to hear what the characters were saying. I would not reccomend this to a friend. Wait 'til Christmas 2010 and rent it.

This movie is definitely not for the kids. There is no vulgar language, but some scenes are too scary for kids; enough so that I was surprised that it wasn't PG-13. With that said, I don't believe that you can tell the story accurately without the scary moments intended to compel Scrooge's reform.
The interpretation of the story was excellent, apart from the occasional deviation from a realistic telling of the story for a few cartoonish moments, which were minimal. The animators did a great job keeping the facial expressions of the characters from going flat (common with animations that are meant to look more like live action).
Over all this was a very well executed movie, from directing, to voiceovers, to animation, to story telling.

A good rendition of the Dickens tale set apart by 3D sequences and Disney imagination. Some comedic elements lighten the dark story but the ghosts can be truely scary for small children. Action sequences done to maximize 3D effect and build drama in an otherwise predictable story. Carrey lends his particular style to the characters but in small accents rather than over the top clownishness.

My all time favorite was with Albert Finney the musical entitled " Scrooge" . This was adapted into a London stage musical and had a very successful run. Unfortunately the stage production never made it to the U.S. If you enjoy clever achievements in animation, I would highly recommend it. If you want to leave in the Christmas spirit, I would rent Scrooge or one of the earlier versions of the Christmas Carol.

The 3D effects were amazing. The movie was a little too dark for me, but worth seeing for the effects.

This is a fun movie - especially if you love Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol."
There are some additions that don't seem necessary. No doubt the wild chase scene and the shrinking of Scrooge will lead to a ride at Disney called, "Ebenezer's Wild Chase."
Any what's with the unnecessary swipe at the clergy - "men of the cloth" - regarding closing bake shops on Sundays? Part of that comes from Dickens, but he doesn't use the term "men of the cloth" and it seems out of place. Somebody got an axe to grind with clergy? Take it elsewhere.

The movie, overall, was absolutely brilliant and creative. It was like watching actual people perform. Very well done!!
On the flip side, I wouldn't take kids to see it. It is NOT a kid's movie at all. It is darker than any version of the Christmas Carol I've seen yet. Some things they definitely could have done without.
Humor? Oh, a little here, a little there. Nothing hilarious.
