Outstanding movie for the family! Well produced, follows true to Dicken's book, and the special effects in 3D were awesome.
The only thing I would mention is not to bring very young children. I brought my two toddlers to a preview, and the scenes were upsetting. When we went to see the complete movie, I left my toddlers with a friend and brought my ten year old daughter, who loved the movie.

While I do NOT recommend taking kids under 5, (the dialog is a bit thick, and it gets a bit scary), I highly recommend this movie.
I was hesitant, as I'm not a Jim Carrey fan, but my 7 y/o insisted, so off we went. Turns out, they made a very true-to-the-book version of this wonderful Christmas morality tale. The 3D even adds to the story, and is quite good!!
I had to explain some of the dialog to my son, as they keep most of the "Olde English", but he really enjoyed AND clearly understood the point.
If they can figure out how to bring the 3D to home-theatres, or make a version without it, I'd guess this will now become an annual "event film", both in theatres and homes.
See it!!

Incredible, lifelike effects that keep you wondering if it's really animated... Jim Carrey is perfect as Scrooge in this great traditional and poignant telling of the story. The animated scenery is beautiful. At times it's a bit slow; otherwise two thumbs up! NOT a movie for young children - pretty scary!

The 3D aspects of this film only add to the movie and do not detract at all. It is a fantastic re-telling of DIcken's story and very true to the original story. The London depicted here is a grand sight, but they haven't forgotten the grittier parts of the London slums of that period. The quality of both the animation and the 3D effects are amazing - only animation can fully capture the imagination of Dicken's tale and this is top notch. Ignore any negative reviews (some people will bash ANYTHING with Jim Carrey in it) and take the family - our 8 year old loved it as much as we did!

How many times can this story be retold and remade? How many times will movie lovers keep this franchise afloat (A Christmas Carol)? I've seen so many versions of this movie that it's not even funny (Mickey's Christmas Carol, Scrooged, older versions of A Christmas Carol). So, you're probably wondering why did I chose to go see this movie? First off, I'm a huge Jim Carrey fan. Secondly I enjoy the story of hope and that we can change ourselves. Plus, this movie was presented in 3D, that made it an even bigger bonus. Even if you've seen the other versions of this film, go see this one in 3D. It was amazing and fun. Great effects! I really believed it was snowing on me. I'm a little surprised being a Disney movie that it would have so many scary scenes. I do reconmend the movie but not for small children. Disney should put an age appropriate lable on their movies. The movie was appropriate for ages tweens to adults. The movie was put together well.

Too much time was spent flying through the air to emphasize 3-D effects.
The movie's plot and character development suffered as a result. You never got to feel sorry for Scrooge, or sad for the loss of Tiny Tim. Because you never really got to know any one of the characters in the movie.
Jim Carey's multiple role playing abilities proves his talent. But none created great character empathy.
This version needed some of the same reflection as the original Dicken's Scrooge goes through, so it too could have changed directions.
Finally-- a warning. Don't be fooled into taking pre-teens into the movie, just because its an animated 3-D adventure. There are some frightening images and situations.

I have loved this movie ever since I was a little girl and my dad took me to see the musical version starring Albert Finney. I knew I was going to see this one, but wasn't sure if I wanted to see it in 3-D and pay the extra money, or just see the standard version. I am so glad I ignored the negative reviews and saw it in 3-D. Money is very tight for us right now, but I honestly will say I do not regret paying $27 for 2 tickets to see this. My husband (who really doesn't like Christmas very much) also enjoyed the movie and told me to rate this as excellent. Ignore the critics and judge for yourself. What a great way to kick off the holidays.

What a great interpretation of the Christmas classic. Loved the 3D and the "special effects." However, though this is a Disney movie in addition to it's holiday content, it is really not a film for young children. Very intense, dark and scary moments. However, this is definately a film that you should go see wth your family, just leave the little ones at home watching Mickey's Christmas Carol instead.

This is my favorite Christmas Story, so to have Disney make a movie of it was exciting to me!!! Prior to the release of the film, there was a One Day Behind the Scenes Tour for this movie that I took my family too and we saw a sneak peek.. we already KNEW we were going to love it. We could n't wait to see the movie and it was AWESOME! I don't recommend this to younger children, there is some dark parts (where the screen goes black!) and some scary parts too for them too. My youngest is 9 and he was ok. The storyline was great, the graphics were great.. Jim Carey was great..I can't wait to buy this on video!

This movie has great 3D effects, the best I ever had seen. Some scenes were a little disturbing for younger kids but all in all an excellent movie for 8+. My 10 year old loved it. Great 3-D graphics, but the story is really not for children. Disney has billed this as a family movie, but your little ones will have trouble with the many over the top scenes. Great movie. The reason for 3 stars is because with the Disney name you think it's okay for younger children. This show is not for younger kids as it does have scary images that are graphic. Great adult movie.

Was very good. graphics were amazing. my 9 year old ganddaughter was a little frightened at moments, but loved it overall. Would not recommend for children under the age of 9 -10

We thought this movie was very good but it was also a "dark" holiday movie at times. My 6 year old and her friend were scared through several parts of the movie. My 9 year old even said she found some parts scary. Other than that I think the movie was very good.

This movie was a great start to the holiday season. The 3D version was great. To have the ghosts be right there in front of your face was a neat first experience with 3D.
