It wasn't quite what I expected as far as the story line goes...some parts were a little more scary....but the 3D was fun and the whole family had a good time. Not a complete BAH-hum-bug ;)

Parts of this movie were fantastic, but it didn't make up for the sleepy parts... especially the Ghost of Christmas Present part-
people were snoring in our theatre - we fell asleep at this part - really young children perhaps would like - it wasn't that scary... wasn't that anything - not funny, not interesting! Pass!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This movie was ok. I love Jim Carrey but would have liked to have seen something new. This is the same "A christmas Carol" story and I don't really enjoy watching something when I already know what is going to happen. They should have changed the story a bit and it would have been better. Overall, it was ok for a night out of the house.

Was okay for a night out, but thought it would be better since Jim Carrey was in it. 3-D not that impressive and Christmas Future scared the 6 year old. She recovered though. :)

From the time I saw the original preview and saw that Jim Carrey was portraying Scrooge, I expected something special from the character such as he had done for the Grinch. Although the story was good, the use of the "Fly Throughs" in the cities could have been reduced. Just because 3D effects are used, they don't have to be over done. Perhaps they should sell Dramamine at the concession stands. Over all, very disappointed!

I was disappointed with this movie for many reasons, but the one most people will notice when they watch it, is the use, or lack of use, of Jim Carrey's stretchface and his comedy stlye. It pretty much was a standard adaption of "A Cristmas Carol". Done in 3-D Cartoon style. Which was cool, but there is nothing new here. You could rent any of theold 1930 versions of this movie and get the same effect. Bottomline if you think you are going to this movie to laugh, think again. A few chuckles at best. Oh and don't take young ones, a few scary moments, but once the novelty of the 3-D wears off, they will be bored.

The visual effects were very exciting, but the accent of Jim Carrey sounded more like Babu from "Seinfeld" , you would think someone directing or editing could see that he was way off. Quite funny but like I said the only thing that was distracting was his accent.

The character detail was incredible - true to life. In fact, even the reflections in the eyes were accurate. I jumped on a few occasions; but to me, that made it good. However, a word of warning for parents with younger children - kids under age 5 started crying, asking to go home - loudly! Parents, please don't take little kids to this movie. It offers dark imagery meant to scare Scrooge. This was Dickens' intent, and incredibly well done in the movie. This was my first IMAX experience; so glad it was this movie!

This was a very faithful telling of a great Dickens classic. The animation was great and seeing it in 3D was fun. Jim Carrey was nothing special as Scrooge and a few other characters but Gary Oldham and Carey Elwes were excellent. There was nothing new as far as the story went but it was fun to watch. Would not take young children to this.

My 11 year old grandson and I loved the movie. I wouldn't recommend that young children see it because there are some scary parts. Best to wait until it comes out on DVD, then you can skip that part. Hope it comes out in 3D Blu-Ray. I loved the animation and Jim Carey was WONDERFUL!! A must see movie for everyone over 6. The best 3D I have ever seen.

Apparently not learning his lesson from the abomination that was The Polar Express, director Robert Zemeckis felt inclined to try another Christmas movie, and with full 3D this time. And once he failed, the movie did not fit, this was a dark interpretation of a timeless classic under the veil of a Disney childrens movie. It told the story well enough and got its point across, but you had to get the feeling that this was more an opportunity to show of someones creative 3D rendering skills then it was to produce a quality interpretation of the Dicken's classic.

The only minor scary part for my grandson was the black horse with red eyes, but past that take young ones for the most enjoyable time.

We saw the Disney train when it came to Philly promoting the movie. Seeing the train gave a whole new appreciation for how the movie was made. My son loved it! He's 6-1/2 and there was a scary moment with the horses, but other than that, it was a very enjoyable family movie. Might not be for younger kids though.

Outstanding telling of this classic Christmas story. Visually this movie was beyond anything that I expected. The 3-D was the best I've EVER seen!!!! My wife couldn't stop raving about the great job the Jim Carrey did. While some parts were a bit scary for younger kids (there were some crying in theater when we saw it) - I would recommend that anyone over the age of 6 go see this excellent movie!!!!!

wow, I was so pleasantly surprised at how clever, beautiful and haunting was this adaptation of A Christmas Carol. The 3D was so phenomenal it felt more like virtual reality. The story is true to the original but almost a tad too dark for young children. My 7 year old saw it and loved it but her 8 year old friend was a bit scared so if your child has nightmare tendencies, think twice. Overall I highly recommend.

I enjoyed this movie. It was fun to watch (loooove the 3D), and was almost word for word true to the Dickens tale. The animation, the lighting, and attention to detail is AMAZING. I thought it was great that they modeled many of the characters after their voice actors: Bob Cratchett looks JUST like Gary Oldman, Young Scrooge looks eerily similar to Jim Carrey, Fred looks like Cary Elwes. I also loved how they visualized the ghost of Christmas yet to come (which I won't give away), it was very original. Just wonderful, my 9 year old loved it and my husband who hates Disney movies actually came out with a smile on his face and said he really liked it too, so there you go. I definitely want to go see it again and probably will!

I was suprised at how good this film actually was. Almost all the dialogue was lifted directly from the book and the lighting and art direction were excellent. I went with my 8 year old son and about halfway through I was starting to worry that he would be bored but he loved it! Proof that exposure to the classics can begin at an early age. My only warning is that it is super creepy. Really small kids may get scared.

I thought this movie was very good visually, albeit, a little dark and scary at times. I would not bring small children to see this version. I enjoyed the the characters in this movie, expecially Jim Carrey. I found the type of english language to be a little bit hard to understand at times, but, as a whole, enjoyed it very much. The only reason I rated it 4 stars was because I think the scary parts to this movie would frighten little children.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie along with the kids. The animation was great and at times I forgot that I was not watching the real characters. I loved seeing Jim Carey's features appear in his characters.
The 3D effects were awesome. Soaring through London with the ghosts was so realistic I could feel the motion effects in the pit of my stomach as well as the chill in the air.

The performance capture technique has yet to eliminate the 'creep factor' that the characters elicit. Why conscript this talented group of actors to such a device?
The Good:
Dialogue lifted right from the original text.
Marley was particularly well done.
The Bad:
Scrooge's facial details too exaggerated.
Gary Oldman's wonderful performance suffered because of the distorted physicality of his character on screen.
Chase scene and shrinking of Scrooge during Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come segment was completely unnecessary and detracted from the story at a crucial time.
One can only think of what this movie would have been like with the same cast but with special effects added only as needed (think LOTR).
No, I do not recommend this movie.
