I love horror movies of all types so when I saw previews for "Paranormal Activity" I was very hopeful. I made the mistake of visiting the movies web site prior to watching the film. Knowing it was fake didn't help the movies poorly written plot. Every potential scare was destroyed due to obvious cues and the previews too informative scenes. I did not jump. I was not scared. Truthfully I was bored. Most people in the theater were laughing and the few screams I did hear came from a pre-teen audience. Rent it or wait for cable. Such a waste.

This movie was outrageously intense. I was jumping in my seat -- haven't been this terrified since The Exorcist.... I went on FB and sent a note to the 2 leads to thank them for such a great job....... definitely a must see.....

I thought this movie had a very good build up to and ending I didn't see coming. It was great. I had trouble sleeping for a few nights. It really does mess with your head, and it's been a long time since a movie has done that for me, Just hope there is another one. Part 2 promises to be worth the wait!!

I love scary movies but this was by far the worst scary movie I've seen. It was a LOW budget, corny-humored watch with absolutely NO scary parts. The first hour is slow and pointless. You can watch the last 5 minutes to see the what I would describe a predictable and far from scary climax. I would not recommend this to anyone. Do better on part 2.

I drove 3 hours from KC to Lincoln, Neb. to see this movie the night it opened. I was not disappointed. I saw it the second time so my husband could go. The volume was too low the second time which took away from the intensity of the movie. There are no special effects and it is not big budget but worth seeing. Just have the theater turn the volume up and see it in a full theater.

From the movie trailors it was hard to get a sense of this movie, but a group of 5, myself included, went to see it last night. The beginning was kind of boring, but I guess they were going for the whole suspense build up. There were a few pretty freightning scenes in the movie, especially the last two nights. I'm a hardcore horror movie person and enjoyed the heck out of this movie, it gave me chills. The few actors in the movie did an outstanding job of selling the plot. I def. recommend this movie.

Maybe they were going for suspense during the slow and boring parts of the movie, but there were a few good scares.
The acting is very good - hard not to tell that it wasn't their real reactions. The ending was a little predictable though, wish they would have play it out a little differently.

Oh, it's fine. Not superscary, but creepy enough to give a few chills. The overall quality is great for a film made for $15K.
The male lead ("Micah") is very unappealing. The audience had more vocal reactions to his stupidity and macho posturing than to any of the eponymous paranormal activity.
Like Blair Witch, it's a cheaply-made movie with a good concept and execution , but with rotten characters that detract from the experience.

Even though I think "Paranormal Activity" has been over-hyped via an incredibly well-done marketing campaign, it still delivers plenty of gasps, chills, goosebumps and desire to hide the eyes. This was a great concept and I admire the director's vision. There were a lot of tense moments and the actors were very natural. Using a timer to show time passing created a nice atmosphere of anticipation. However, I don't think I'll ever see another film with hand-held cameras.

I was so excited to see this movie , i bought tickets online like a week before it was even out in the nearest theater ! I drove over a hundred miles to see it ! But it was not worth all i went through ! i would watch it again but only at home. It might be actually scary !

I know reality shows are the 'in' things right now but come on, get real! This movie is not worth the money, wait for video! I did not find it 'scary' at all nor did my family. The last sceen is the one that makes you jump but thats it. There was more humor in this flick than scariness.
