To sum it up, this movie was a fun, and entertaining flick. The acting was believable. There was the right amount of odd happenings to make you dread each night with the couple. The best part of the movie is the last 30 minutes; the anticipation up to that point can sometimes feel lengthy.
Down side: if you get motion sickenss easily, sit farther back. Worse than the Blair Witch Project with the hand held camera.

i loved it! hauntingly creepy and built up amazingly. definitely one of the best 'haunt' movies ever. the 2 main characters (really the only characters) were awesome actors and made it all work so well. it was slow and brooding in a good way and kept a tension in it from the first moment the haunt 'appeared'! if you want action action action horror it isn't here. mtv crowds will boo it and scream 'this stinks!'. but anyone into real deep down horror with all the ghostly shrills about it will love this!
definitely creeped me out in spots! i applaud the cast! my kind of horror film!!!!

I can't understand why this film is not being shown at more theaters but that will probably change. The characters are very likable and believable. Scare factor is high... Uneasiness factor is VERY high... Paramount will have no problem making money on this one.

I was impressed by some of the stuff in the movie because they must have done the home work since I have seen real lift possession and what was in the movie was very similar to what I witnessed. Im a horror freak. Ive seen "Blair Witch" "Quarantine" and the likes. I say this is as close as it gets to real life, you think you are there thorough out the movie. From the beginning there is nonstop action with either humor or surprises on what will happen the next day. I believe this work deserves a 5 star. I will watch this again, with my girlfriend this time. Boy is she for a surprise. The neighborhood looks similar to my area 8-().

Alright...where to begin.
If you went to see Blair Witch in the theater, then this is close...but no cigar. It's scary, don't get me wrong, for a couple of hours afterward sudden movements around you may startle you, but it's not as masterful at building the suspense.
The premise is that the footage is found from the video camera of a couple trying to figure out what's going on while they sleep. Whatever is haunting them gets caught on camera and we see it.
If you like to be startled by loud noises and quick movements, then you won't be disappointed. Personally, I may be too desensitized for this film to have the intended effect. Alot of people in the theater were jumping and screaming, so the odds are that you will too.

I had hoped the long drive would be worth it. It was very predictable. It was about 10% showing the paranormal stuff which was the same pretty much over and over again.. and 90% then talking about it during the day.. very little tension breakers (wise cracks) which was repetativly boring from the boyfriend.. It was just a lame attempt to upscale Blair Witch which sucked royally also.. I was really disappointed.

The movie is great, all elements seem to fall into place, the caracters, storyline and the spooky parts... All except for the ending which to me seemed a bit like "The Ring", other than that I highly recommend it. I live in Tijuana (across the border from San Diego) and folks down here are really into psychic phenomenon stuff, it's kind of imprinted in our culture. I can personaly tell you that people close to me have experienced these type of scenarios in real life and even though the movie is obviously a fictional piece it's portrayed really accurate according to the haunting tales I've heard. I would recommend you try launching the movie Internationally to see what kind of feedback it receives.

After an establishing period which lasts a bit longer than most films, this movie did deliver in regards to scream and chill factor. The actors were great, and you never get the sense that you can tell what stereotypical thing will come next, because there is none. The movie was very genuine , and eerie. If you're not one for moving free style camera technique, if even watching home made videos makes you dizzy, take something beforehand. There are some static shots, but by the end of the movie, i was ready to vomit due to motion sickness caused by the camera. Worth feeling ill for a few hrs? yes! most definitely. I had to call my friend to sleep over, and even so, it took me two hours to fall asleep. So worth the crazy cinema ticket price.

It's super slow to start, trying to create a storyline and give you background of the girlfriend's (Katie) past rather than just throwing you the scary stuff w/o you knowing where it came from ... which is good, but it drags on and on.
But once it starts to pick up it doesn't stop and you're constantly thrown something more intense. I got so scared I teared up.
It is also funny ... in a morbid kind of way, because of the comments and things that the boyfriend (Micah) does.
You MUST see this movie if you have been waiting for one that will actually scare you. It's easier to make scary movies that are gruesome, it's harder to make one's that make you terrified. Terrified was reached.

I kept an open mind before seeing this film. I thought it was going to be another lame Hollywood attempt at the paranormal. I was surprised at what a good portrayal this movie gives on a demonic infestation. The movie shows us what not to do when experiencing paranormal phenomenon. I would have given 5 starts but the last scenes were not realistic. With that said, I know the movie needed some Hollywood as it's a movie. I will recommend it to friends and colleagues as this was a great lesson and provided true horror entertainment. WTG to the director and producers for putting this type of film together. Kudos to Paramount for the way this movie is being released. I bet the opening numbers once done, will be wonderful!

An amazing film. The slow buildup kept it moving towards a worthwhile climax. What made it more scary than big budget films was that the acting was so real it was more like reacting to real events. You couldn't see how the Special Effects were done. It was great to hear a man behind me say to his female companion, "I know, but I'm scared too!"

It was a very intense and interesting movie. I jumped a number of times and the ending oh my is all I can say. The time when the movie ends is close to the time when all the stuff happens at night in the movie also so pretty freaky. I could not sleep alone that night that is for sure. I do recommend seeing this movie that is for sure.

Without spoiling anything, this movie is not simply about "spirits and ghosts." The entity in this film is demonic. There were several scenes that not only kept me on the edge of my seat, but also made me come up out of it. For those who do not believe in the paranormal and are looking for a realistic psychological thriller, then this movie does not disappoint. However, for those who become paranoid at the slightest little bump in the night, I suggest that you do not see this movie alone and be prepared to have someone stay the night with you. It is creepy, and it will freak you out, though it has its funny moments. Wish I could write more, but this site has a character limit.

Scary & fun, those are the 2 best words I can think of to describe this movie. Facts speak for themselves. The majority of the audience was screaming during this movie last night and when it was over they broke out into a loud round of applause. When was the last time you experienced that at a horror movie? As far as Blair Which comparisons, to me Blair Witch was like a Disney film compared to this movie. I found Blair Witch creepy but it never delivered. This movie delievers. It's tough to say whether it's the scariest movie of all time becuase we are all sacred by different things. But it is certainly a film that you will still be talking about (or thinking about) when you get home.

Wow, this movie let me feeling on edge, it's just so creepy! I love how is slowly builds and builds and builds. Everytime a nighttime scene starts you know something is going to happen, but you just don't know what is going to happen! It's perfectly paced. Highly recommended!

The movie was good! But, it wasnt what i thought it was going to be! i thought there would be more scenes that were going to be scary. I wont lie i did jump alot of times.. but nothing to the point where i was going to have nightmares.. I went to sleep just fine! I wouldnt call it an all time scariest movie.. I personally feel that House of a 1000 corpes is all time scarey
