I fell asleep about 1 hour into the movie. Camerawork is choppy in the beginning, few things to mess with your head. I laughed a lot, mostly because there was one girl who must've been scared of her shadow, judging from her screams. Woke up not long after, the ending was kinda cool. Not worth $11, but maybe a matinee price would be ok.

I had heard this was extremely scary from the reviews on tv and news. It was a total let down. Not enough build up. One little scary thing would happen and then a lot of watching the couple act normal, then another little thing would happen. Nothing big happened till the very end. And our audience was not screaming and jumping like they show on promos. In fact there was total silence as the movie ended. Kinda like "that was it?"

I can't believe I feel for the hype yet again. This movie was talked about as one of the scariest movies ever. I am a true scaredy cat and kept my eyes open the whole film and didn't flinch. The first hour was NOTHING. 3 scary scenes and they were only scary because I WANTED THEM TO BE.
This movie was AWFUL and the director's just made a clean couple of millions of dollars from this foolishness.

This movie was absolutely the worst movie I have ever seen. It was repetitive, predictable and way too drawn out for the outcome it has. I would have rather stayed home and watched reruns of Friends, Seinfeld or any other TV show than to have spent my money and time watching this movie. If you have any desire to see it, at least wait until you can rent it and spend a lot less money on it. If I weren't sitting in the middle of the aisle of a packed theatre, I would have gotten up and walked out.

Not a bad movie. Great effort, great work considering budget. What kills it is the expectation after reading all the glorious reviews. Peolpe are to generous with the praise these days. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but "scariest film ever", "best horror film of all time"... come on peole? If I wanted to be scared by lights flicking off and on and doors closing by themselves, I would have stayed home and watched the Ghost Hunters marathon and saved myself the $8. This movie did not live up to the hype of "the scariest movie in America" in the slightest. Unless they're comparing it to what it in the theaters right now, then yes - it is scarier than Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

One of the things I loved about the "Blair Witch Project" was that they didn't feel they needed gore or graphic shock for a good scare. The best scares are the ones that are left to the imagination. Paranormal Activity does this to great effect. The expansion on the "things that go bump in the night" was very effective. My biggest peeve, however, was that too much attention was given to build-up, to the point where it was actually boring, and the actual fear-factor was near the end of the movie. This is where "Blair Witch..." has it over PA. There the scares were consistent throughout the movie. Still, PA can be considered on par as a great amateur effort. Highly recommended.

I don't think that the style of a film like this can be reproduced.... Those of us who remember how we all felt watching The Blair Witch Project in theatres would agree that this film is better in every way... Some of the lines/improv were a little corny at times, however when human beings are frightened out of there minds they tend to say corny, unintellegable stuff... Featherston standing at the foot of a bed and watching her boyfriend sleep for hours into the night is probably the most frightening image possible for those who believe that less is more... What brilliant work of art.... daring.... I can honestly say that I may never have more fun watching a movie in a theatre again... I hope that I'm wrong...

WOW, LOVED it. You can take anyone over 16. NOT fake and overdone. NO over acting especially. People were believable, situation believable, which can scare you more than fake impossible junk! No nudity because it had a GOOD story! Just plain fun to get chils and goosebumps and watch everyone jump at the same time. I hope this sets a new standard from stupid murder movies they pass off as horror nowadays.

The reason this was so scary is because it looked like someone's home movie. It looked like the real thing. No stupid special effects, just a couple making home movies of something they had no idea was so dangerous. I liked it and I don't scare easy but this movie made me very uneasy about sleeping.

This movie was just about what I expected...no disappointments, no revelations. I had heard it compared to Blair Witch, and it does use the same basic vehicle to chronical the supernatural experience. One complaint; It was best later in the film and then did end rather suddently, just as I really wanted more.
I found it suspenseful. I did appreciate the lack both bloody body parts and uncovered female body parts. Neither of those interest me. And lately I'm suffering special effects and action fatigue, so this was a nice low prduction value break from most other movies, horror and otherwise. It may not turn out to be a classic, but I had fun!

Certainly the marketing machine that has been behind this film is enough to have earned it the huge opening number figures that it did, but the film itself doesn't leave much meet on the bone -- the story is thin and quickly becomes trite -- leaving you grasping and hoping for anything...anything to make it feel worth the time and energy. Was incredibly underrated the past few years and I'm glad it was finally brought to the silver screen. I saw it Halloween night in a packed theater and everyone was freaking out and laughing nervously at the appropriate parts. Pet Peeve: People who diss movies like this saying "oh it didn't scare me" could say that about any movie. Why? BECAUSE THEY ARE MOVIES (read: by definition false)! In order to appreciate this and any scary movie, you need to let your guard down a bit and pretend it's real for the moment. The build-up is very well done. Caveat: Do not try the stuff they do in the movie at home. Very good, very scary.

This movie was not slow for just 15 minutes, it was slow for about 45 mins. The only scare in the movie was the very first one, then after that it was pretty predictable. You knew how the ending was going to be when they left the camera in the bedroom. I have seen scarier things on tv in " A Haunting". No, there wasn't any blood and gore, but I don't need that to be scared. The hype given the movie was overdone. The scariest thing about this movie was the almost 20 bucks we spent on tickets.

After watching the trailer I was prepared to be jumping out of my skin for the whole movie....it was very slow-and not really what I was expecting. My initial reaction when the movie was over was "wow that was stupid." But I did wake up a couple times in the middle of the night thinking about the movie, so it must have had an effect on me. Definitely one to see in the theater, not to rent...

This movie was Absolutely not scary! Very boring and slow until the last 5 minutes. The script was horrible. I mean at least leave a little mystery as to what is about to happen. Basically, This movie was a waste of money. Do not go and see unless you want to sleep for the entire movie and then wake up for 5 minutes of action.
