I've never been more disappointed in a movie than I am with this one. Perhaps the "Scariest movie ever!" tag was just way too much to live up to. Perhaps. But even if it wasn't given that, I thought the movie was--though slightly tense--boring...with a couple of good spots.
The Blair Witch Project is my favorite horror flick of all-time, and I hate that this film seemed to rip off of it big-time. Now, I understand that building-tension thing that some movies go for, but in this case, I think it wasn't enough.

I think overall, this movie was just ok. I'm a fan of the scary movies but this one slightly fell short of the hype for me. I think i would recommend it to my friends but definitely have them wait until the comes out on DVD. I actually laughed at some of the "scary parts".

If you take too hard a look at this movie, it is pretty ragged at the seams. It is low budget with mediocre acting and quite a few silly moments in a sub-par script and the editing and pacing are terrible.
However, the movie still manages to be engrossing and will definitely make your date crawl in to your lap. The parts that are done well are done very well. It will linger with you to the point that the first time you hear a noise in the night or feel the fan move your sheets, you will not go back to sleep.

I don't scare easily. So I'm always looking for something to do the job. This movie did not. There was more humor in the movie than scare. The performances were great.. they sold their roles very well and their relationship was believable. Add a bunch of thudding noises and a few cheap tricks with the fan and you've got 90% of the movie. The very ending was the best part, but you didn't want it to be the ending because it was finally getting good. If you scare easily.. go see it. You'll love it. But if you don't... I wouldn't bother.

My high expectations walking into "Paranormal Activity" were truly exceeded. I had been excited to see this movie since I first heard of their unique marketing campaign, so topped with the dazzling reviews from all around, I bought my tickets online as soon as I could (don't usually do this, but HIGHLY recommend it for this film). The terror begins about halfway through and lasts until the very end. It was incredibly satisfying compared to the horror genre's landscape of poor writing and torture p-rn. To someone who knows nothing about it-- seems that some young writers came together and said "How can we make something as entertaining and shocking as the Balir Witch Project," except how can we make it even more frightening throughout?

So me and a couple of friends went and saw this movie and let me tell you...i guess it lives up to its hype hah. like it keeps you watchin and just waiting to see what the heck is gonna happen next....overall its REALLY scary and i had to sleep with the light on last night cuz everytime i turned it of i was like....."maaan f*ck" this. so yeah go see it...the reason i said it coulda been scarier is cuz im sure if they had left out this one part it woulda been slightly more of a mindf*ck. you'll know when you see it.

This movie is a slow paced movie, But pretty darn good for 15,000 budget. About the movie.. The synapsis I keep seeing is inaccurate. They are not married they are just boyfriend and girlfriend. She has a history of a demon following her. The scary moments are very planned. Did I say very? VERY. Ending is very expected.. And he deserved it, if he wouldn't have egged it on... He would not be where he is now. After all the hype and reviews I was soooo excited to see it, but seeing it well we won't go there. Coming out of the movies there were a lot of teeny boppers that were sooo scared. LOL!

It's very boring at first. I started to fall asleep in the theatre! It was more like Blair Witch meets Excorsist. Then finally when the action did start that's when it started to grab my attention! They made acknowledgements to the so called victims like it was based on a true storey but there where parts were so fake! This movie had good parts but it could have been better. I don't feel like it was a "five star" film.

The slow pace of this movie leads you to expect the scary bumps in the night. In other words, the scary parts are predicatbly timed. To my pleasant surprise, the creepy moments and surpises were well timed enough that they remained very effective. I jumped quite a few times. Even though the movie ending left my husband and me feeling a little unfinished, I'd say it was a thrilling experience overall. I would recommend it to anyone who loves to get scared. You will want to sleep with the light on. NOTE: The shaky camera may be a little painful for anyone with motion sickness so be prepared.

This movie is very captivating and carefully crafted. It is built on subtlety which is how the best horror films come about! It doesn't depend on gore, or special effects, so it is not for the those of low attention spans. It has a simple but well played story that sends chills down your spine! Personally it didn't scare me as much as it seemed to have scared other people, but it is definitely creepy and you will get caught up in the fear, anxiety, and paranoia of the characters. Well worth the watch!

A phenomenal achievement, considering this film was crafted on a shoestring budget. Surprisingly exceeded my expectations, even with the promo blitz. My take on "Paranormal Activity": there was a lot of story build up and repetition, like a long joke, in a way, with not as much of a payoff/spook out as I expected (and I spook easily). There were some pretty low budget, and a few higher budget effects, and I did have to turn away for some parts (I spook easily). I'm still thinking about it days later, so overall I think it was worth seeing.

As the title reads I think the bar has been raised for this genere of scary movie. I have never been to a movie where the entire movie theatre is so anxious. You always have a moment or two were the audiance screams at something scary, but this was different. Director Oren Peli has managed to build the pure suspence and anxiety to the max. You could literally feel the suspence in the theatre. The hype is totaly deserved. This film needs to be released on a mass scale so everyone can be taken on this ride of fear and anxiety. I also love the fact that there are new faces on the screen, great talented young actors. Don't miss this movie.

I will admit that the previews hyped this movie to the extreme. Most of it was well, boring, except towards the end. Then it got really intense and disturbing and the ending was spooky. I'm a bit more aware of my surroundings at home especially at night. I will say it is not your average scary movie, it had some jokes and I laughed also also the WTF moments were the best. I would recommend a friend see it.

The hype surrounding Parnormal Activity is well deserved. The movie was amazing!! It is much different than the typical horror movie, in that there is very little blood and guts in the vain of the typical "slasher movie", but the movie is good!! Not the scariest movie I have seen, which is what I was expecting. The movie moves pretty slow... I was pretty pumped to see this movie, so naturally I demanded it in my area. I was really excited when they decided to show it here. It's kindof like a documentary, but obviously it's not real. It kept you waiting, enticed and in suspense. The style was watchable, but their was an element of creepiness that lacked up until the last 20 or 30 minutes or so of the movie. All I can say is I know for a fact this movie has(will) make a serious profit. I'd like to have been scared more, but that's just me.

I was so excited to see this movie. I bought tickets for a bunch of my friends, we arrived really early and waited in the cold to watch this movie, and boy, was I disappointed. There was one part that I did feel a little goose bumps on my arm but other than that, it was kinda lame. Not scary and quite honestly, it was pretty boring. I kept waiting for the pace of the movie to pick up and it never did. Maybe my expectations were too high. :(

This movie was extremely well put together. It really felt like you were watching a real home movie which is probably what made it so scary. I've never really been to creep-ed out in a movie but at one point we have all woken up to strange noises in the middle of the night or a light flickering on or off so I think this movie touches that real fear in people which makes it realistic. The guy in the movie had the perfect hilarious sense of humor which made the non horror parts of the movie fun to watch. I highly recommend this movie

If you like scary movies you have to see Paranormal Activity. It is the scariest horror movie I've seen. It's truly chilling. You'll never forget it! Good luck sleeping that night!

If you haven't seen the trailer yet, DON'T! I'm disappointed that the trailer gives away some of the best parts of the movie, but the movie is still an absolute must see! Beginning starts a little slow and if you're easily prone to motion sickness, don't sit in the front! Most of the shaky camera filming goes away 1/5 of the way through the movie. Where usually I will jump and give a little yelp at several scenes in most horror movies, this one had me and most of the entire audience giving actual screams!! The ending was fantastic and I drove home constantly looking over my shoulder with almost a dread of what could be back there. ABSOLUTE MUST SEE!!!

I was shacking after the movie was over, and when i went home i blessed my apartment. im scared to close my eyes because the images are burned in my brain. The movie was horrible and disturbingly scary. I love scary movies but this is beyond scary, I cant explain it but you would have to see for yourself

It's a Blair Witch clone in concept. Low budget. Less shaky-cam than Blair. Very entertaining though. I found myself looking at the screen but looking at the corner away from where you expect action.
A big guy next to be screamed like a girl with his hand flopping in the air. He ate about an inch of popcorn the whole time. haha
Good ending... Bad end-ending.
