This movie had a lot of hype behind it so it was hard to ignore it. For hardcore scary movie fans this movie might be too slow for you. The movie isn't scary throughout, in fact the only scary scenes are the nighttime ones. The rest of the scenes just made me nauseous literally. There was so much camera shake going on that it was hard for me to focus on the movie. The best part of the movie were the last 20 minutes or so. It will definitely leave you thinking after the movie is over.

To simply put this movie in one word i would say Terrifying. Never in my life have i been so scared or so nervous. Never have i sat in a movie theater seat with my legs up as if i was going to be grabbed from underneath. These people are nobody's never heard of them yet they make everything AMAZING. This movie had people afterward sitting in the lobby talking for a half hour(which i have never seen) Everything was as it was hyped and it was perfect. If you love scary movie this will with out a doubt be YOUR movie. Best horror, scary, paranormal, movie that i have ever seen or will ever see. Good luck sleeping!

Yes, the ending is given away in the first minute, but it's the journey that counts, right? This movie plays on the primal fears of the dark and things that (in this case, quite literally) go "bump" in the night. I loved it and saw it two nights in a row.

This movies trailer does not give it away except for the end scene but even then you have no idea of what happened after Micha went flying until you see the movie and it freaks you out. I had trouble sleeping next to my fiance last night thinking she may stand up and watch me sleep and she wouldn't go to the bathroom by herself because she didn't want to go into the dark. If you realize you are going to a movie that is not the $$$ budget blockbuster but an attempt to get inside your head you will enjoy this. I felt the audience gasp every time the couple started to go to sleep. The scenes are believable and yes shaky camera at times but the pay off is worth $9.50 - enjoy!!

I first saw this movie advertisement on the AOL home page. Headlines read" Scariest Movie of the Decade"... TOTAL LET DOWN !!!! There was not a single part of this film that made any sence. Well-composed cinematically. The silence and documentary style evoke emotional and physical audience involvement, which makes the movie life-like and frightening!
Do not too close to the front of the theater. You can't see the diagetic time code. If you suffer from kinetosis, the camera shake will make you nauseous.
The ending diagetic date of the movie coincided with the real-time date that we saw it. Freaky. I know that after we got home and my cell phone went off in the middle of the night, I jumped farther out of my skin than a normal startle.

Simplicity at it's best. Great concept and very tactfully executed. There was humor, there was a close connection formed between audience and characters, and the horror aspect was a nice twist of the psyche. I am happy I went to see it. I definitely got goose bumps from the scary parts. If I had watched it alone, I would have definitely been afraid of the dark!!!

I loved this movie! Slow at times, but overall, scary as heck and in ways that leave you with chills down your spine. I could not shake the goosebumps off for almost an hour after the movie ended. I absolutely hated this film. It was not frightening in any way. I can almost guaruntee there was no script, considering the repetetive banter and scenes of dialouge went on and on. True to any movie trying to build more hype than it's worth; all the scenes in the preview were the only tense scenes in the movie. Including the entire climax of the whole film. Finally, the male lead character was a complete d-bag and handled each situation with zero logic. I spent most of the time trying to figure out why any human with a functioning brain would react the way he did. In summation: don't demand this movie in your area, don't drive any distance to see it, and if you're still interested; just wait for it to come out on dvd.

I haven't watched a scary movie in the theater since I saw The Ring--all of the other releases were too dumb/fake/uninspired/unoriginal. But this movie, WOW! I think my boyfriend has a bruise on his leg from where I gripped it throughout the majority of the movie. Awesome awesome awesome! The suspense, action, and dialogue are just amazing. From beginning to end this movie is a thrill ride and you definitely get your money's worth when you see this movie. I agree with the rest of the reviews, this is much better than Blair Witch

this movie was boring throughout the whole movie. if you want to fall asleep this is exactly what u should watch..a few good parts ...last 10-15 mins but other than that it was a waste of time.

My daughter was so jazzed to see this movie that we drove 200 miles to get to a select theater for a midnight showing. Fortunately, we bought tickets ahead cause three theaters there were sold out and they had "bouncers' at the entrances. I totally enjoyed the movie until i read the end, bummer. Also, I hate when they show the ending in the preview, you'll know what I mean. Now I get the sense that more theaters will get this movie and I could have waited to see it locally. See it, have a night out.

This movie does things to you... makes you think, makes you paranoid, and leaves you questioning, "what's really going on while I'm sleeping"??!!! The "this can totally be real" factor is what makes the entire thing a tad bit unsettling. Sweet Dreams..... boo! (I live in San Diego... so its just that much creepier)

Paranormal activity, is a great return to old school style horror. The sound Design alone is enough to scare you. The effects are amazing considering its a low budget film. Highly recommend the film, it has moved to number 3 on my top 5 horror films 1. Halloween 2. The Exorcist 3. Paranormal Activity 4. Faces of death 5. Session 9. Great film hopefully it stands as an example for future Horror filmmakers.
