I would highly recommend this movie to anyone! I have seen this movie twice in the last week and it is a Great scary movie! It had me from the start to finish! I'm a big fan when it comes to scary movies and this my favorite by far! If you have not seen it, you have to go and see it! I would recommend buying tickets online for all most all showings end up sold out! You better get there at least an hour before the showing if you want a good seat! It will scare the heck out of you!

Well, Paranormal Activities was an interesting film. The fear factor however was not there like it was in some other films like the ring. I found it to just be rather funny lol.... Though my date was petrified LOL Maybe theres something wrong with me?? Anyways, I recommend that you watch this by yourself at night in the dark for a fuller effect.

I agree with what another user wrote, don't view the trailer before watching the movie. As far as another user's comment that "it was so bad people were laughing" .. people were laughing because parts of the movie were genuinely funny. The "daytime" shots are funny albeit a little slow with pretty shaky camera work but the "night time" shots are enough to terrify you into not sleeping the night you watch it. Definitely try to buy your tickets online and get to the theater early to get a good seat. I liked this movie because it didn't rely on blood and gore to get the viewer scared, it relied solely on those little "bump in the night" moments that almost everyone experiences.

The movie was awesome, when it did the scary parts, just wish there was more of them. It was also pretty funny I think the whole theater laughed more than it got scared.I liked how it was from their point of view. I thought it was good. I'm not an easy person to scare but I thought it had more of a realness to it. Most movies now adays rely on loud noises and gore but this one gets under your skin as it hits home literally. I would say the best way to describe this movie is Blair Witch meets Exorcist (without the gore). I would highly recommend not watching the trailer before seeing this and if possible watch one of the latest shows so after the movie you can go home and think about it. ;)

Ok, soo i have 2 things to say about this movie. First, the movie was a really big hype but for a low budget horror film it was really good. Look at it like Exorcist meets Blair Witch in a house. It was very creative and the anticipation of getting scared is what really gets you scared and lastly, who ever phrased that movie "the scariest movie ever" should get shot. Yes, its great movie but not the "scariest ever". The story starts out slow till the anticipation sets in towards the end. Its well worth watching it in theaters and also another movie to add to your horror collection.

I am a TOUGH critic of scary movies, i havent seen a good scary movie since The Ring, but this one scared the witts out of me and everyone else in the theatre. I heard about this movie a few weeks ago, and I was totally psyched about it when I heard it was coming to San Diego. This movie really keeps you on the edge of your seat, and honestly it was the scariest movie i've ever seen. I thought it was an awesome movie, especially for a low budget film compared to other movies. This movie had me scared before going to bed alone and the thought of it being a true story makes it even scarier. Thank God I seen this movie before it exploded because after getting out the theater after seeing it the second time, the line was around the corner. Definetly recommend it, buy your tickets ahead of time and get their an hour early minimum to get good seats, they sell out fast. Enjoy!

One word of advice for those planning on seeing this - Don't check out the trailer.
I didn't, and was pretty creeped-out. My wife, on the other hand, saw the trailer and wasn't nearly as surprised by certain key moments because she already knew what to expect.
The best "real cam" movie I've seen. Highly recommended - just don't watch that trailer!

I would like to recommend this movie but I don't wish the creepy aftermath effect on anyone. This is one of those movies where the scare comes later - at 3AM when you're at home in bed. I saw this with my husband who prefers shocks and gore for his scary movies. However, what struck me is that when the movie ended, there was a dead silence in the theatre for about 1 minute before husbands and boyfriends started making cracking jokes -- can you say "defense mechanism"? This movie copies the "Blair Witch" style but unlike "Blair" exploits fears we all have. I wish I had never seen this movie.

There are many freaky moments in the film and it does it effectively without over playing it. It does a good job creating a realistic haunting and it's obvious the makers of the film did a bunch of research to achieve this. I just thought they could have pushed the story a lot more for more shocking moments. The one complaint I have is the very very last second of the movie..I thought it was completely unnecessary and kinda ruined the whole "realism" feel of the picture. Overall, it's very well done and I guarantee you will jump with scare at least once.

Simply the scariest and most exemplary horror movie in years. All of you people shrugging your shoulders and complaining that it bored you are either lying or completely oblivious. (My guess is the latter.) Just a brilliant demonstration of how effective the most basic premise can be in the hands of someone with the ingenuity to use bare-bones resources to their utmost advantage. Amazing that 10 years later, here I am repeating the same arguments I made when 'Blair Witch' first arrived.

This movie was a breath of fresh air from all the other horrors movies that are filled with gore. On the other hand paranormal activity used old fashioned scare tactics and was written in a truly authentic way that would leave its audience questioning whether or not it was real! I would have to admit that this movie scared the _ out of me. It took me 1 hr to fall asleep then just to wake up at 4am in fear. after seeing this movie it will nearly impossible getting the numerous scary scenes out of your head especially when its time to go to bed. Overall, Oren Peli is a genius and this movie was hands down the best scary movie ever!

I dont know what some people were watching that are giving this movie a low review but this movie def lived up to the hype for me. I have seen some pretty bad horror films the past few months and for me it was refreshing to see something that had me grasping onto my friends hand. It is a very realistic movie and the humor throughout it makes the movie flow amazingly. I would go spend more money to go see it again to try and pick up on the little details of the movie. Dont listen to the people that did not even stay for the whole movie! Go out and see it yourself and you wont be let down... especially if you believe in the paranormal.

This movie has so much hype. Dont beleive what you read. People werent walking out cause it was the scariest, they were walking out because it was the dumbest movie.
To predictable, when the clock slows down then bam something tasteless happens. The ending was horrible as well. People were still sitting in their seats when the lights came on wondering if there was anything else. Dont waste 1$1.75 wait til it comes out on DVD and or cable.
You knew it was that bad when people were laughing through out the movie and walking out saying you must be kidding me this was stupid. Blair With Project is 1000 times better then this disaster... No wonder it only cost 11k to make.

Wow.. I was really disappointed.. everyone kept saying "you have to go see this movie, it's the scariest movie EVER!!" boy were my husband and I really let down.. it did have some suspensful moments, but they were few are far between.. the last 10 mins. of the movie were the best.. the rest was just a disappointment!! It is a good movie, and it is entertaining, but it is a little slow in the beginning. Once things start to progress, the suspense keeps coming faster. I definitely wouldn't recommend taking children to this movie. I left thinking, "that was creepy but not THAT scary." And then I couldn't sleep all night. I think it would be more scary watching it in your home, so I recommend watching it at the theater.

I do have to say that this movie does live up to the hype. There are ups and downs, meaning when there are no eerie moments, then it does get a little tedious; however it is only part of the overall art that is this movie. The arguments of the couple spur the suspense as it is obvious how the negative energy feeds this entity's force. Each moment gets more intense through the movie. There are moments in the movie that are just disturbing and heart stopping. Paranormal Activity does end aburptly but I would have to say that it had one of the best endings I have ever seen. I left the theater creeped out and a little on edge. Overall a great way to celebrate Halloween. It you want to see it, go see it. Have a fun time.

Throughout the movie, the couple bickers, which is part of the negativity fueling the paranormal activity. However, I found their bickering annoying, especially one of the characters inability to "listen" and take the situation seriously. The ending hits hard, and I found it much scarier than the entire movie. Although I recommend that you not spend your money seeing this in the theater, it will make for excellent DVD viewing during a dark and rainy night; just make sure not to see it alone.

This was one of my best horror movies ever. It's hard for me to get scared when watching horror movies but this movie really did it for me. I do believe in paranormal activities and this movie was just a glimpse of what could happen when someone has such types of activities in their home. I liked the fact that it was filmed as a documentary to make the audience believe in it more. I recommend this movie to all.

OK movie overall. The shaky camera and home video look will make some people sick to their stomach.
There are some scary moments but it's mostly due to anticipating what is about to happen because you always know something is about to happen due to the sound effects and time clock stamped on the bottom right of the screen.
I was expecting a scarier movie. I'd wait to see it alone at home on a dark night.

The movie was very well made although not as scary as I was expecting. It was entertaining as you watch the husband progress through non-belief to belief. I was afraid knowing it was filmed in the same kind of way "Blair Witch Project" was filmed that it would be hard to see what was happening but it was not at all like that. By the way, that is the ONLY way this movie resembles BWP which I hated. There is that one really scary moment....

I don't know what why some are giving this movie a low rating, but that is why you MUST go see it for yourself. This was the best scary movie I have ever seen!! Very entertaining and definitely not predictable, this movie gives you surprises when you least expect them. The theatre was packed and now I know why. A MUST GO SEE MOVIE, DON'T MISS OUT!!!!!

Remember when you were small, telling ghost stories at night with your friends. Sitting around feeding off of your mutual desire to get scared silly? Long repetitive tales that rambled on until they finally ended with something silly like a super loud BOO! They were better then this. Save your money, don't even do redbox, wait for cable! Don't waste your time and money on this over-rated over-hyped home-made clip. There is nothing scary, nothing exciting, nothing to think about, 90 minutes of nothing, period. 80% of the movie is about this young couple arguing over totally petty things. Absolutely tedious and boring!

This movie was awful.... From what I understood from others, most of the scares happened the last 30 min. of the film. I couldn't wait that long.
Between my husband's motion sickness and the stupidity of the stunts, it was too much to bear after just 1 hour. I requested and got my money back and for those that stayed, i really hoped you enjoyed it, but I just couldn't stay and watch the sorry excuse for horror or for an awful screenplay.
I am going to end this review by saying this.... If a guy keeps lying and not let u get the peace you need, don't listen to him, dump his stupid butt and hire a demonologist. That is all I am going to say!
