As far as scary movies I rate it on how many times it makes me physically react, in this movie it had me to the point where I didn't even realize my mouth was open until after the scene when it was drying out. very scary! The only part I didn't like was the ending, c'mon really? They ruined it by making it into a stupid myspace forward "Katie's whereabouts are still unknown" left unwritten was "and if you don't forward this on to 10 friends by midnight tomorrow she'll GET YOU!!!" other then that though, SUPER scary! loved it

Extremely well done and suspenseful. If you enjoyed the mockumentary style of movies like Cloverfield you will like this one as well. I think it makes the suspense that much greater.

Although the movie starts out slow, in fact several people walked out, but once it got going, IT WAS PRETTY SCARY! Keep in mind it is a low budget movie, but a great scary movie. If you think slasher movies are THE scary movies, then this one isn't for you. If you like Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State, Ghost Lab, those types of shows, you will love it. I didn't care for the parts of the movie, when the actors were holding the camera, all the fast movement made me kind of queasy, When it was on the tripod I loved it....The anticipation of what was coming was very stressful. It is by far the scariest movie I've seen in a very very long time!

I bought in to all the hype and couldn't have been more disappointed. I love scary movies and this can't even be put in that category... I heard it compared to the Exorcist which is an insult to a classic. We actually waited for about 10 min after it was over thinking there had to be more... Lame

From things I had read, it states it starts off slow. I definitely agree, however sit down, enjoy the suspense. There are many humerous moments in the film as well. My fiancee kept glancing at me through the initial scenes, with a credulous look that it was not a scary film. It progresses very well. By the end, there was no doubt this was a very intense and fun, scary spook flick. If you enjoy scary movies, you will enjoy this one as well,

I have a video camera and love horror movies and always thought to myself, "How could I make a good, cheap, believable horror film with no props, special effects, or crew?" This is how you do it...I LOVED THIS MOVIE. I can relate in that I am always shoving a camera in my wifes face and hearing her compain about it. My house creaks at night (I don't think its haunted). I think I'm tough and can handle everything on my own and my wife was a lifelong student (until recently). Throw in a haunting, good acting, awsome dialogue, some comedy relief and you have a winner. I was afraid to go to the bathroom last night; really I held it until sun up.

My husband and I were prepared for this movie to be really scary. We had read that people walked out of the theater, couldn't sleep with the lights off for days after seeing it, etc. Neither of us thought it was that scary...however we did enjoy the movie, thought the cast did a convincing job and overall liked the premise. This movie was excellent! Cinematography was excellent. There was good humor in the movie as well as some seriously creepy parts. It definitely gave me goosebumps, made me jump. I would recommend it to anyone. This is not a movie for kids.

This was the best scary movie I have ever seen. You get to know how the movie rolls. During the tense parts the entire theater is quiet until something happens, then it relaxes and you can literally hear everyone sigh in relief and relax more. Definitely go see this movie. This movie dragged at first and had some unsteady shots, but their humorous talks made up to it. Since we're talking about a horror movie, this one definitely had us shaking literally. It was that creepy. This movie was ONE of the creepiest I've seen, along with The Exorcist and Orphan.
PS: It is better to watch this movie LATE @ night, to feel the terror more.

We saw the trailers for this movie, and were hyped up about going to see it! We even invited friends to go with us to the very first showing. We think that the trailer for this movie, in our opinion, was actually a little better than the movie. All four of us left feeling a little disappointed. To us, it was indeed scary in some parts, but a little slow in getting to them. Great movie for the extremely small budget it was made with!

I really liked this movie. The fact that Oren Peli shot this movie in 1 week at his house, and on a $15,000 budget is not only insane, but remarkable. Being a Paranormal Investigator I can relate to the tension that the couple had in the house, (the feeling of being watched, hearing noises, footsteps, etc.) Since ive started to do Paranormal Investigating, I have yet to come across a Demon Entity, and hope I never do. The movie was not very scary (to me) but does have some freaky moments. This is a MUST see, and I will definitely buy it once it comes out on DVD. Every Paranormal lover X-Mas present!! :)

I saw a commercial for this movie and had to demand it to see what the hype was all about. Thankfully, Paranormal Activity opened nation wide and I was able to see it in my home town. AMAZING. Funny at times, but the tension is kept throughout the length of the film. The fact that the whole movie is shot hand-held, gives you that uneasy feeling of being in the house. Don't see it alone.

I confess, I believed all the hype and bought tickets, even animatedly encouraged my parents to go with me. If you can make it through the first hour and thirty minutes of this SNOOZE FEST, the last few minutes WILL scare you. I did sit straight up in my seat and catch my breath at the very end of this movie. Maybe if they had just showed the end for an hour and thirty-five minutes, I could have recommended it, but as it stands? Wait for the video to come out and rent at Red-Box, $7.50 is just to much to spend for this.

i loved loved loved this movie! SUPER scary!! scary movies are my thing .. and ive been waiting a long time for a scary movie thats actually worth my 10 bucks .... it was amazing .. it took me awhile to shake the goosebumps off!!

This movie was great! The hair on my arms stood on end. It was funny, creepy and scary! I love that it wasn't given the Hollywood treatment. It seemed so REAL!! You really have to see this in the theater to get the most out of it. This is certainly the best "scary" movie I've seen in a long time, if not the best movie I've seen in a while.
