First of all, I'm not sure what would prompt a moviemaker to film an entire movie with a handheld camera. After the first 20 minutes, I had to close my eyes unless they had the camera sitting on a stable surface. My friend had to get up and leave the theater she was so sick from the constant movement of the camera. I probably would have tolerated it a bit more if not for that.
However, with that said, I have seen more paranormal activity on a weekly basis on Ghost Hunters. I had read that people were unable to sleep for days after seeing this movie and I'm not sure why. It was definitely not scary.
I would like to say the actors did a very good job with what they had.

This movie really shows what can be done with a little money and a lot of imagination. I can't remember the last time I left the theater smiling that big. You will have a great time!

I went to see this movie with high expectations with all the facebook hype. I was so excited I seen it at an early screening the day it came out. Lets just say me and my friend could not get over how scary it was for the low production cost. The movie was sold out so I was lucky that I got them early online. As an interested skeptic in paranormal phenomenon, this movie gave me some of the "fright factor" I was looking for, but missed some fantastic opportunities to send a chill up my spine. The filmmakers minimized scenes that would have wracheted up the plot, and threw in cheesy scenes that added absolutely nothing to the story line. I stopped believing after this couple decides they are in imminent personal danger and they do [basically] nothing to help themselves. Real people would have been frantic. Nonetheless, great ending - and I added a star for it.

This was the stupidist movie I have ever seen, I got sick from watching it the movement of the camera made me motion sick. But I also got sick from the acutual movie. I best part of the whole 1hr and 40 minutes is the last 3 min of the entire movie. So if you go stay till the end (if you can) so it wouldn't be a complete loss of your time. Talk about over hyped!!!!!!

First off...to the many people who give this a bad rating...This movie isnt like the halloween or texas chainsaw movies.. this is based on how real paranormal experiences and investigations are. I realize that the movie was supposed to appear as amateur as possible, but I almost lost my dinner and not because it was scary. The unsteadiness and constant whirling around of the camera almost made me sick! It did take away from my enjoyment of the movie. It was a good story and the acting was great but the end could've been longer with more scary scenes. Towards the end of the movie, it was getting really scary and really intense but it only last for a little while. The producer/director should have been the ending just a little bit longer.

This movie definitely isn't the scariest out there, but it was interesting. If you like shows like Ghost Hunters then you will probably like this movie. There were certain scenes that made me jump, but overall I wouldn't call the movie scary. Also, if you get motion sick, I recommend you take something for that before you see this movie.

This movie was completely overrated. I read somewhere that someone replaced The Exorcist with this movie for scariest ever. Don't believe that. This movie doesn't touch The Exorcist. It has a few decent parts and I didn't think the acting was that bad, but there wasn't enough action to keep you going. I never jumped or yelled or anything that they claim you would do. I even chose this movie over Gerard Butler, bad mistake. Luckily, we go to see Law Abiding Citizen tomorrow and I am sure it will be alot better than Paranormal Activity.

I think that before people see this movie they need to understand that this isn't suppose to be some major blockbuster with super cgi special effects. That being said, think of this as kind of one long ghost hunters investigation. No b.s. Some parts are slow just as an actual paranormal investigation. If you are looking for amazing special effects and crazy demons jumping out at every corner this movie is not for you. If you have gone ghost hunting or appreciate what goes into an investigation, you will enjoy this. This movie is darn close to reality and I loved it!!!
