The story is simple. There's a girl who is hearing scary noises and has bad dreams. Her boyfriend buys the camcorder to try to document it. The entire movie is told from that one camcorder. And of course from there things go from bad to worse. It has the feel of a real life documentary. There are no special effects. Its not scary like a professional horror flick, but it does have its scary moments and its full of suspense. People in the theater were yelling at the screen when I saw it. Give it a shot but don't expect Hollywood. I was scared and liked it.

I went to this movie with the expectation that it would be one of the scariest movies I'd ever seen, but was very disappointed. While there was a lot of suspense, there was never really any pay-off. the end was good for a little jump, but just didn't deliver. I would recommend waiting for the DVD.

I saw this based on the trailer and was extremely disappointed. The characters were stupid. The plot was very predictable. It reminded me of the quality of ghost stories told by Boy Scouts around the camp fire. People in the audience were laughing, and not at the right times. The only scary parts were cheap jump scares. Maybe in a crowded theatre with screaming girls it would have been a little better. As it was a big yawn.

I thought this movie was great. I had heard from many people that it was a good thriller and it became a must see. The idea of the movie is probably one of the scariest things I can think of. It was completely terrifying. The build to the end is great. it gets more intense all the time. Any movie at this point that is not completely predictable is great to me. There were no special effects or computerized anything to intensify the movie - just the basic idea and plot was enough. This is just a plain old, on the edge of your seat good movie.

I know a lot of people were expecting a lot more with this movie, but I loved it! It was original and it actually made use of that little known technology called the imagination! I find that when a film relies less on special effects and more on the viewer's imagination, it has the capacity to make the movie much scarier. Paranormal Activity did just that!

I found it to be 98 minutes of shear boredom. Do you remember the 8mm home movies from the 50's? They are better than this movie. I think this movie was alright. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I didn't know what was going to happen next. The fact that the whole theater was dead silent helped alot as well. Everyone would scream out in fear at an exciting part.
I think I would go see this movie again, although, it definately wasn't based on a true story. Mika was an actor. He had alot of humor in him, which made this movie alot better.
From laughs, to screams, to crying, and to peeing yourself, this movie gives you many different emotions.
Check out the online version as well. You'll apreciate the theater ending!

The ad stated that it was the scariest movie. WHATEVER!!! Do not waste your money on this movie. The acting sucked there was no plot. and don't tell me these were the real people that it was real footage because I will kick you where it hurts. Do be a fool!! Stay away from this movie.

Kept my interest throughout the entire movie. Not using hollywood stars made it much more realistic. As for if the movie is based on a true story... Who cares. Its a movie. It was entertaining and that is that.
