The Zefirelli production, the Met Orchestra, and the cast did great justice to this beloved Puccini classic. It was superb! Ramon Vargas could be headed to becoming Pavarotti's heir And he really clicked with Angela Georghiu's Mimi to produce some truly memorable singing. The other fascinating aspect of these HD broadcasts is the commentary and interviews by Renee Fleming, and especially the highlighted backstage operations. Bravi!!!.

One of the best performances of La Boheme that I have seen. And the best part is that I was sitting in my neighborhood movie theatre and watching a live performance from New York. You experience the Opera up close and personal.

La Boheme was a magnificent production with an outstanding cast. But the HD presentation on a movie screen added so much to my enjoyment. The close up you could never get in an opera house and we viewers were privileged to see some behind the scenes action. Renee Fleming is great as a hostess and her interviews with the principals and the conducter were priceless. I would recommend this anyone who wants to see an opera.

This Met production on film moved me so, that I left the theatre sobbing. Vargas has stolen my musical heart. I see him skyrocketing to an unprecedented height.
I was disappointed only by the distortion of the images on the screen (wrong format?), and the volume, which could have been slightly lower during the interviews with the darling Ms. Fleming. Apart from this, it was a nearly flawless presentation. I can't wait for the next one.

This was the first live performance of any opera for us. We enjoyed it. The camera gave us an angle and close proximity we'd never have at a live theater performance. Also enjoyed the backstage views and the interviews with the featured performers. My wife says she wants to plan another such date!
I'm not an opera convert, yet, but The Met is certainly impressive.

This is one of my favorite operas always seen at the Met. Have seen several of the opera's on the TV and enjoyed it, BUT seeing the faces of Ramon Vargas & Angela Gheorghiu and others so close up made it over the top for me and my friends.
Seeing backstage, meeting the mastero listening to Rene Flemming all made this a great time, We will rreturn.

Took my 86 yr. old aunt and my 42 yr. old nephew, we all had a wonderful time.

Been to the Met but never sat close enough to see their faces, which made this so good!

It was thrilling to here the music in surround sound. Puccinni came to life, big time.
It was a pleasure sharing with fellow opera lovers the excitement of this production while it was going on all around the world.
I hope this is just the start of many more live HD opera transmissions from the MET.

The performance was simply spectacular. The performers were unmatched. I would do it again in aminute and will. I was suprised at the video and audio. I thought that the HD would have been better. It was "soft" and not sharp. The audio was also soft. The voices had to work to elevate over the orchestra. I had expected more surround but it was mostly from in front. All that aside, I will still do it again.

This was the Metropolitan Opera live plus all the added features of back-stage interviews and so on. It was better than a complete DVD with the typical extras included on one of them. This is the way to learn about opera, especially the really great ones like La Boheme. Anyone interested in this art form and in learning more about it should take full advantage of the opportunity to see these productions at such modes cost.

This particular production was absolutely phenomenal! Since it was not possible for me to be at the Met for the live performance, this gave me a chance to experience it and enjoy the fabulousness that is the Metropolitan Opera and the genius of Franco Zeffirelli. Not only that, but you get to peek behind-the-scenes via the reporting of the great Renee Fleming and listen to the artists, production staff, orchestra... it was just the best! It inspires me to visit the Met in the near future.

My wife and I have seen La Boheme live twice at The San Diego Opera. This was nearly as good and in some respects better than seeing it live. Since we cannot afford orchestra seats we can not see the singers' faces as well as in the movie theater.
The singers were terrific, especially Ramon Vargas.
We have seen one other Live in HD and will see many more. The price is terrific.
One suggested improvement would be for the theaters to have reserved seating. Getting there an hour in advance to get in line is a pain.

Since I don't live in New York and the Met no longer can afford to tour, the live HD broadcast is the best option to bring quality opera to fly-over land. La Boheme was supurb, the camera work top drawer and the direction flawless. I would prefer better theater sound, especially for the singers, but what I heard was magical. I am making plans for next year's Met casts and am telling all my friends that they must join me.

La Boheme was an excellent opera--filmed well and I enjoyed watching the backstage footage as well. I like Renee Fleming very much--that being said, there was just too much of her in between acts--making the afternoon entirely too long. I hope the Met rethinks this feature in the future. I'm l;ooking forward to more productions.

When you see a production such as this, it is easy to understand why it is, and will always remain, among the most popular operas. This is the opera to take a friend who has never been to an opera or who says he or she hates opera. Most will be moved by what they see, hear and feel. (If not, a heart transplant might be in order.) The between-act features provide a close-up view of the logistics involved in shifting the sets and putting hundreds of extras in place for the street scene in Act 2.

If you want to see an opera up close and personal, and also be taken for a backstage tour of how the sets are put together, don't miss these Met operas. There's one more this season, La Fille du Regiment. The one I saw was La Boheme, perhaps the best loved of all operas. The singers were all great. Ramon Vargas, the fine Mexican tenor, had the lead role of a young man whose jealousy and the fatal illness of his beloved leads to tragedy.
If you've never seen an opera, this is the place to start. Beautiful, accessible music, and a timeless romantic story.

It was probably my 10th Boheme, and indeed my first one in a movie theatre. Loved to see the singers from so close (and realize what great actors they are too!), and loved being brought back-stage during the intermissions.

The Met in HD is opening up opera to a whole new audience. I had always thought of opera as stuffy and elitist, and had little interest in it. Several things changed that. Tthe addition of sub-titles to translate the lyrics into English makes the story understandable. But seeing productions of the unrivaled quality of the Metropolitan Opera show you the true beauty of all the art forms that work together to create opera. Beyond the singing and music, there is drama, stagecraft, lighting, costumes, and all the other elements that go together to create great theatre. Many of these pieces are several hundred years old, which is a testament to humanity's creative spirit. Seeing the Met on the big screen in HD is something that everyone should do at least once--you will be stunned and surprised by the experience.
