This movie was about American history played out by some very dynamic and talented young actors. Washington and Whitaker may have brought some fans to the theatre but it was the young folks that made you believe in the talent, success and determination of the Wiley students. P.S. The timing of the slap in the face was too perfect! :-) P.S. 2 I wish the debate scene with Harvard was 2-3 minutes longer.

This film is thought provoking. Never knew this happened. This is something we as African Americans should have known about years ago. It was kept from us! Denzel Washington as usual was magnificent! The kids were amazing! Everyone black and white need to see this amazing film. I will be seeing this film again with family .

My husband and I certainly enjoyed this film. It revealed some history that we weren't even aware of. Denzel Washington is a great Actor and Director without a doubt! I'm especially proud of the talent that the young actors brought to the movie, they were excellent! Regardless of your race, please take time out to see this film, this is a "People Film", lets stop hiding from the truth. Adults take your children who are old enough to understand the power behind overcoming challenges in a time that would have handicaped most people.

This a great movie . . . well directed and acted. The history lesson is just fantastic, placing these events in the context of the civil rights movement and this country's horrific history of lynchings. This movie should be receiving Oscar and Golden Globe nominations! The movie grabs your attention and does not let go. You want to know even more about the characters. The camera work is also great in its ability to communicate the unique perspective of the characters.

I think this says it all about this movie... When the film was over, and the credits started to roll, no one got up to leave. It felt like people were so in awe of what they had just seen, that they didn't want it to end. This is not one of those hit-you-over-the-head-with-a-message kind of films. This is an entertaining and poignant film that draws you in and involves you in a way that is very real. It's like watching a really great football game and feeling like you can influence the outcome if you root hard enough for your favorite team. Denzel Washington gave a masterful performance and the younger unknown actors were surprisingly his equal. If you like drama, if you like dramas based on true stories, if you like dramas that are inspiring, then you will love this movie.
