Those who are only familiar with American movies usually find it hard to enjoy French movies because there is no beginning, middle and end. PARIS is about several people in different stages of their lives who face the challenge of finding love, losing love, searching for love, life and death. The director chooses to show the dark side of PARIS as his characters struggle to find life and love, but as the movie ends, it follows the person who has decided to live and the camera shows us the beautiful PARIS which most of us know.

The movie was hard to watch in the early moments, herkyjerky glimpses of characters and scenes that made it impossible to understand what was unfolding. Gradually, the cuts increased in length. Ultimately, we got to know an ensemble cast of characters, and to care about several of their lives quite a lot. The film is a slice of life of people living in Paris, reacting to it, and in one case struggling to reach Paris from outside. My favorite angle was visual: between the striking faces of most of the characters and the face of Paris itself, this was a striking film to watch.

I found this movie sappy and gave it an extra half star for Juliette Binoche. There is nothing new or original here but Paris, of course, is beautiful and the performances are mostly enoyable; not an unpleasant experience. That said, "Paris" attempt to manipulate falls short. Also the IFC staff should try to cheer up a bit, can't be all that bad.

This was an excellent move that portrayed slices of Parisian life, some poignant, some funny, some very realistic and some not so. It is not a movie for everyone, but I loved it!

i loved this movie - it was poignant but not sappy or overly sentimental. the characters and their stories felt real, but the cinematic romanticism and whimsy was still there.
