I liked the movie. It had some really funny spots. I think peeing in the sink was one of the funniest scenes.
I do think some of it was very predictable. I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it yet. However, in spite of all of that, it was an enjoyable movie and a lot of fun.

Good, if a little predictable, especially at the end. Tina Fey play serious, businesswoman Kate who approaches every task (including motherhood) as a project that can be mapped, planned & timed at every point. I expected her solid, wry performance. Amy Poehler is surprisingly good. She manages broad physical comedy as well as more understated dramatic scenes. Steve Martin is brilliant as the egotistical aging hippie/ CEO of Kate's company. "Good job, Kate. I'm rewarding you with 5 minutes of uninterrupted eye contact." Well-written, solid acting, funny. I went with my 15 year-old daughter & we both enjoyed it. Not quite as good as Mean Girls (or 30 Rock) but well worth the price. Minor quibbles: Why is the idea of "ancient" Sigourney Weaver having children so repulsive? Every effort is made to make her look dry and lined but Geez- she's Sigourney Weaver! I just don't buy her as an ancient crone. Minor quibble #2" Please - learn the geography of your "set" city! Philadelphia has enough Tina Fey fans that the occasional botched references to neighborhoods & addresses are jarring. Other than those admittedly picky points, a good, funny (sometimes VERY funny) movie. Glad we went.

My 16-year-old daugther was dying to see this movie so I went along with her thinking "this is going to be very dumb", but actually the movie was sweet and had some truly funny moments. The message overall was also a good one: don't judge a book by its cover, and that everyone has something to teach someone else. Go and take your older children - definitely not appropriate for 12 and under crowd.
