This movie has more "heart" and drama than past Pixar films. If you bring small children, they may be too young to get through the dramatic portions of the film and some of the scenes of peril may be frightening. We went with friends (no kids) and were surprised as to the quality of the animation and the storyline. This movie was designed for Blu-Ray from day one. The message to children is unmistakable but it's completely entertaining for adults. One item we were completely taken with was one of the main characters is a Golden Retriever. We have goldens and I can tell you that they caught the personality of our favorite breed perfectly. We love Doug the Dog!

WOW!!! This had to be the best movie since Toy Story. The last time I was so moved by emotion over an animated flick was Dumbo. I cried, I laughed, I was on the edge of my seat... A great Pixar animation but aimed as much at adults. Our group of 5 adults had laugh-out-loud moments (particularly the homage to dogs playing poker) as well as some surreptitious tear wiping. I've never seen so many unique uses of a quad cane. Take your grandparents!

My 6 year old daughter loved it and for the most part I did not have to explain a scene to her. I'm not a "cartoon watcher" (wasn't allowed to be during my childhood) so for me to sit thru a whole cartoon movie will speak volumns. I enjoyed the movie because my daughter laughted like she was being "tickled".As an adult you hope to one day find a love the is just like the characters of the movie. This first 15 minutes will whirl you thru some of the characters' lives from the joy of new friends to the depth of dreams & love lost. Then it really starts. Pixar's usual "over the top" works well as always. There might be a scene or two you have to explain to a young one, but you'll be laughing too hard to do it "now". It's never too late to chase you're dreams... The only downside? $4 more per ticket for 3-D.

I wasn't too excited about going to this movie, but my husband wanted to see it and it WAS Father's Day, soo we went. I was pleasantly surprised! It is a delightful story, the characters were sweet. I went with my father, and it was an excellent movie, even though neither of us are kids. On one side, it has a very touching story line about a man finally finishing his and his late wife's dreams - and a boy who almost never gets to see his family, and looks for one in the old man - and on the other side, it has ample amount of comedy in the form of a grumpy old man stuck with a whiny boy...and then a giant bird and a talking dog. For a kids' movie, it's got a lot of ironic humor in it, so that both children and adult can enjoy it.
I was never expecting much, but it was an excellent movie, nonetheless.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I took my 3 1/2 yr. old ,who had been asking to see it. We both enjoyed it. We laughed and I got choked up and teary-eyed a few times. My daughter was a little worried and a bit scared over a couple scenes but overall we had a very good time.
