I really enjoyed this movie - it was heartwarming and many parts of it felt realistic, even though the premise of the story is an elderly man and a young boy who float away to South America in a balloon-laden house.
I probably won't be purchasing the DVD, but I wouldn't mind watching the movie again - I had fun.

Took our daughter. And while it was cute, there were a few parts that were a bit scary for the kids. Overall it was good, but there were certain parts of the movie that we adults understood - but went unspoken in the movie, so hard for the kids to necessarily understand what was happening.

We took 3 of our grandchildren (ages 4 to 8) to see this. The movie starts out slow, but draws you in and is absolutely delightful. It has a good message and a great ending. We'd see the movie again and plan to buy the DVD when it is released!

I bought 5 tickets for my family but I never made it past the first five minutes. My 5 year old was afraid (too loud) previews scared her too, so I had to leave. However, my sis and nephews RAVED about the movie. So good they will be buying it for their home collections. I can't wait to see it. My twelve year old nephew commented that the theme, at times, was very mature.

It was a GREAT movie! I took my 2 year old daughter to see it yesterday. (It was her first time seeing a movie in a theater) She sat through the entire thing. Besides the scary/intense parts where she actually cried and had to sit on my lap! I would recommend adults to even go by themselves. I cried (alot) during some parts! Definitely go see it!

Even though the movie was pushed towards the young and old, and the relationship the husband and wife pulled on your heart strings, in totality, it was difficult to remain interested in the movie. You knew that hey would run across the old explorer and that there would be a twist to that meeting. The true impact of a child's movie is whether or not my daughters request that I purchase the movie as soon as it comes out on DVD. Mine did not and I will not.

Right from the beginning I was on an emotional roll-a-coaster. You become attached to the characters immediately. This movie had everything: adventure, sword fighting, friendship, love, loss, and comedy. I left the movie happy and wanting to see it again. It is all I could talk about at work today. By far the best movie in a really long time. So, thank you to my nephew for wanting to go. It was a wonderful surprise!! Go see it!

This movie was terrific. In the first 5 minutes Pixar manages to create such a strong attachment to the couple in the opening scenes (don't want to spoil it by being too detailed) that I found myself bawling and laughing in alternating breaths. And they are ANIMATED characters -- not even real humans. At any rate, this is a first rate Pixar effort. I would caution that there are parts that are downright sad and some mature themes -- divorce, deadbeat dads -- that may be hard for some children to get and hard for others to watch, but with that caveat I would highly recommend spending the money on this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film and recommend it whole heartedly to ALL...kids, adults, and even tweeners. This is one of those movies that having a bit of everything should appeal to everyone. True, it's labled a "kiddie" flick, however given it's storyline the film transcends that label. You'll find youself imersed in the story from beginning to end and laughing, crying, and cheering all the way through. Great film see it NOW!

I own all of Pixar's animations, and went to this one quite eagerly. I would recommend waiting for it on dvd.
It was ok, it just wasn't up to par, either the story or the animation. The characters didn't have the range of expression, the story didin't have the depth of subtext that I had come to enjoy and expect.

UP takes kids movie animation to a new level - is it even for kids, really? I took my 6 year old who loved it but sat on my knee for a lot of it, there are several fierce dog scenes which are pretty frightening and a couple of chase scenes which we both found very tense. It was much more touching than I thought it would be and I cried quite a lot, probably more than I laughed. Not quite as funny as I hoped but overall a much better movie than I expected.

This is a very touching movie--I cried. The animation is fantastic. You feel like you "live" in the animated world. I would have liked to see a little more humor in it, but otherwise it is wonderful.

this was a great movie.I 'd say for a little bit older kids. It has some sad parts, but the funny parts were hilarious!! love the dog! It taught courage, good morals and tender love,
