My husband and I took our two children (7 & 5) to see this movie and everyone loved it. I think it's the first movie my youngest has sat the entire time through!! Would definately recommed this movie to everyone, with or without children. I think my husband and I laughed just as hard as the kids!!!

I LOVE Pixar! They outdo themselves every movie and their shorts are always so sweet,funny, and endearing! Up is fun with or w/o children as many of the reviewers have mentioned. It has awesome humor, sweet and sad subject matter, as well as a great cast of characters! Thanks for having a cute little asian boy this time!! My daughter and I kept remarking that he reminded us of my nephew! This movie is a must see, we are looking forward to seeing it in 3D this time, maybe just the adults!!

I absolutely adore Pixar films and am usually the first person in the theater without kids to view them. UP was my absolute favorite thus far as it tackled two very sensitive subjects with grace - the childless marriage and the loss of a spouse. A lot of people look to these films as being for children but my fiance and I both ADORED this one because we both could identify so closely with it. A definite must see - Pixar just keeps raising the bar!

I took a 4 1/2 year old to see this. Some of the concepts were a little difficult, and one of the dog scenes was only a little to much for him, but overall the movie was a must see. My small boy actually had more issues with the second short than the entire movie. Go, See it. As an adult, be prepared to cry a few times and laugh allot. It's a powerful movie.

Pixar never ceases to amaze me. Even if their next film is about paint drying on a wall, I will be seeing it.
To all of you complaining about your 5 year old not understanding something or the material not being "age appropriate for the audience that the film was advertised for" (whatever that means KM813)... the movie is rated PG!! What does that mean to you people? Know what you are taking your own kids to.
As for me, my 3 1/2 year old daughter loved it! I'm sure she'll be wanting to see it again. And I will not mind taking her.

Although it touched on the serious topic of the loss of a lifelong mate, it was handled sweetly and lovingly. I do not find it inappropriate for young children in any way; as a matter of fact, it is easier to learn about such real life issues in fiction than in reality for the first time. I loved the senior citizen in the starring role and the way he was portrayed as slowing but still very capable. He soon won the love and respect of the youngster and the two of them found much fun and adventure together. I smiled throughout the entire movie ...and laughed out loud quite a bit too!

What a wonderful movie! I thought it was great that there were very happy parts, very sad parts, and hysterically funny parts. After all, life has happy, sad and funny parts. Having said that, it was a little awkward that I could not stop crying during the first 20 minutes! Then I couldn't stop laughing at Doug and Kevin. Also, the Fenton's Ice Cream cameo was really fun. Overall, a great family movie.

Pixar has another winner with UP! My kids are 6 and 3 and they loved every minute of it! Some parts of the story were over their heads, but that made the movie more enjoyable to me. The kids didn't seem to mind and I didn't feel like I had to turn my brain off for two hours. The move also moved at a great pace and didn't feel like it was dragging along ( I'm talking about you "Beverly Hills Chihuahua"). I've recommended it to all of my friends, those with and without kids. And you should check it out, too!

This movie was very funny, however there was some very heavy themes throughout the movie. It was not age appropriate for small children. Even for a 10 year old there will need to be discussions after the movie about what happened to talk through some things. It just has some very heavy topics. It makes me wonder if this is just the day and age we have come to that a childrens movie touches on these things. It was still a good movie and I gave it four stars. I laughed a lot. Just think twice before you take your small kids to it.

While I think it was the best Pixar movie, I think a lot of the story/humor would be lost on younger kids.

I thought the movie was adorable, however, my 5 year old was unable to comprehend the story of Carl, the loss of his wife, and the meaning behind his journey. It was also funny to hear every parent in the theatre explaining what was written in book pages to their children as every child stared at the screen of words and asked what it said, clearly understanding that they were missing some important part of the story. My child and her friend, age 5, also both burst into tears crying when Kevin the bird was kidnapped, and I had to calm both of them down and convince them that everything was going to be fine. I thought the story in itself was nice, but not age appropriate for the audience that the film was advertised for.

The animation in this movie is beyond anything I have ever seen or imagined. It is so good that you almost forget it is animation. The story line is a little bit mature for children and sometimes the movie is so caught up in the backstory (i.e. first 15 minutes and last 20 minutes) that our little ones lost interest. However, it is definitely a classic. As an adult, I loved this movie. Our 5 year old noted that Monsters v. Aliens was better. And that is the why only 4 stars. This movie is much more for grown ups than for little kids. Oh, well. Still a great picture and one worth seeing and adding to the DVD collection

It's always nice going tosee an ORIGINAL film, and Pixar has definitely put together original ideas. And a big kudos for haveing a local shop featured in the film (Fenton's ice creamery is real!).The film touched on modern themes that are often glossed over in children's movies: death, love, an absent parent... While emotionally moving at times, the film dealt with these issues in a tasteful manner. There were a few scenes with guns that were a bit disturbing, and the dogs might be a bit frightening for young viewers (the film is PG), so be aware of this before taking young children to see the movie. I give the film 4 stars because the ("talking") dogs were a bit much for me, but still a very enjoyable flick.

Initially I was surprised when my 7 year old wanted to see this instead of "Museum" (he has a big brother and the two of them had been talking about the other movie.)
We both loved "Up." Yes, he too was sad when Ellie dies (I got teary) but he laughed out loud and cheered when the good guys won. I think the only thing I would change would be (SPOILER ALERT) the fate of the bad guy. It was disturbing to see him fall, no matter how evil he is made out to be. It would have been easy to make it ambiguous.

This movie was a fantastic journey into the mind of a crotchety old man--who makes you empathize with what he goes through. I felt so sorryfor kids so emotionally disturbed by the death of his wife or the loss of "Kevin" that it brought them to tears--one of them even asked to go home. I would seriously take into consideration your child's development and comprehension of death and loss before taking them to this movie publicly. But a great movie for those a little older! :-)

I loved this movie! It was touching & heartfelt, exciting & hysterically funny. The characters were all fantastic. The animation is unbelievable.Its hard to imagine that these characters are computer generated. It was hard to pick a favorite (I liked Doug the dog). My 8 year old can't stop talking about it. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone, young, or old. It really has everything.
