I took my grandson and my daughter to see this and all three generations loved it! Disney always has something sad in his movies. Something that shows real life issues, in this case death. It is showing life as it really can be, and doesn't sugar coat things. Then it shows that life goes on. And it can still be a wonderful adventure!

I went to see this movie with my two sons (12 and 15). Although my sons were humoring me when they agreed to see it, they were glad they did. It was both funny and touching. And of course, the little short before the film was a high light! I loved it!!! The character Ellie (as a child) reminded me of Junie B. Jones. Wouldn't THAT be a good series of movies!! Must have the same writers as "Up" tho...they did a great job!

I don't make that statement lightly. All of Pixar's movies some degree of excellent (mostly a high degree) but I really feel this one exceeds them all. It has deeper themes, and realer characters. The story itself arises from real human drama and tragedy. How they can pour so much emotion and heart into computer generated images is beyond me.
I hope Pixar can continue to top themselves... they make it harder each time, but they haven't failed to deliver yet.

I am not sure that they needed to do the 3-D version of this movie as I saw little actual 3-D in it. You can see alot of depth which adds to the movie but even at parts where there were opportunities to WOW the audience a little, Pixar didnt take advantage. Might have been on purpose and in no way detracts from a very good movie, but I know my son went the 2nd half of the movie without his glasses on and I cant say he missed anything.

The best kids' movies, and the ones that last, appeal to adults as well, as least in having some more sophisticated humor and feelings. The movie is technically outstanding in detail, animation and wit (the dogs' perspectives were hilarious). However, what will make this a classic is that it provokes thought for kids and grown-ups really about the meaning of one's life, purpose and moral choices, as well as telling a touching story about the relationship between the boy and the old man. This is a great movie for everyone in the family!

I LOVED this movie. There was so much emotion in a cartoon - amazing! The themes and messages were wonderful! However, my 3 1/2 year old said it was scary! The dogs frightened her quite a bit, but she loved the rest of it. When we went to the store afterward, she asked for a blue balloon because of the movie! Very well written!!! Just as the other reviews - remember that it is PG, not G and for good reason! I think minimum age should be 5.

I took my 7 year old to Up, assuming it would be yet another kiddie oriented blockbuster. What I found, however, was that not only was it great for her, but for me as well. I was moved (even to tears) at the poignancy of much of it (the main character's devotion to his wife, his inability to move past her death, etc.), while laughing hilariously at other parts, especially those scenes with the dogs. It was clever, funny, slapstick, and human. The theater had too many little ones (under 6 I would say) though, and I would just remind people that the movie is rated PG. Its dialogue, graphics quality, message and overall subject matter don't make this a little kid film.

I have been increasingly dissapointed in Disney movies lately. I feel they are geared more towards adults than to the kids! I took my 5 year old and 2 year old to this movie in the theater. I found some parts funny - but my 5 year old didn't laugh at all! It didn't hold my two year old's interest for even a few minutes. The funny parts that are shown in the previews are the only parts that are funny. It left much to be desired! It had a story line that was too deep for kids to understand and appreciate. I suppose I'd recommend renting it to adults, but I wouldn't recommend it to their children (especially not at theater prices)!

This has to be the best Pixar Movie so far. I am a big fan of all of their movies, especially the Toy Story series, but the storyline and artistic quality of UP surpasses all others. I absolutely loved this movie, and would recommend it to everyone and anyone!! I thought that this was a very grown-up animation, and really appreciated that the main character was an older man. Too often, there are animations where it's always kids vs. grown ups or good vs. evil. This movie didn't really have such simple categorizations. Each character in the film had so much depth, that it becomes more than just knowing who the "good guy" or "bad guy" in the film is. I think that this was something that people from all age groups can enjoy. The short animation before the actual film was great too!

Wonderful family movie! My 7 and 9 yr. olds LOVED it. I enjoyed it as much as they did, maybe even more. Very touching storyline; I shed a few tears in the beginning. Has great lessons (for the kids), and reminds adults what's really important in life. Definately worth seeing! :)

This movie is way too sad, from start to finish. My 5 year old grandson and his 7 year old friend were asking us "is it almost over" 30 minutes into the film. The movie was so centered on the old man's love for his deceased wife, that my husband and I sat there thinking about our deceased parents, and also when one of us dies and leaves the other. THEN, when the hero of the days when the old man/old woman were youngsters turns out to be the bad guy, what's up with that? This movie lacked the creativity and the upbeat feeling that other Pixar films captured. We won't buy the DVD, and will tell others not to waste their money.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This was a great movie...The plot, animation, etc was just incredible. I was surprised that it kept my 3 year old entertained and my 8 year old really took the message of the movie away from it....I would recommend this move highly!!!!!!! Bring some kleenex as I cried several times during this movie!
