My husband thought the movie was very good and funny! The grandkids loved it. The story kept your attention by all the action and funny things that happen. The story taught character values through a young boy who had no confidence in himself and had to rise himself up to help save the bird that he loved in the movie. The old man was grumpy and hard to get along with and he learned character by forgetting himself and helping save the life of his little friend, and dog and bird that came into life. They became friends.

This movie is fun , yet I feel it is a bit too sad for younger children. I think family movies like this should stay on the light side. There are some pretty sad parts in this movie. The end is a bit too strong natured as well. Since the boy , and his friend are under attack by the man trying to trap the bird , and return to America , no matter who gets hurt , or how. Children see enough truth in the real world. Lets give them the chance to see a movie with no sadness / killing because we all need a good 2 hour laugh at the movies.

We LOVED this movie! It was sweet, had adorable characters, made us laugh out loud a lot (three adults, no children attended), made us want to see it again, which we will, and showed us just what love and compassion mean and how you never know what's behind the behavior of people many times. Enjoyed this movie very much ...be sure when you purchase the tickets your getting it in a theater that is showing 3d.. We had to turn in our first set of tickets when we realized they weren't showing in 3d and went to another theater near by. Entire family really enjoyed the movie. My 3 1/2 year old was scared during the dog chases. I think the volume in the theater had a lot to do with it. She still enjoyed the movie though. We will certainly buy the DVD when it comes out.
