This is a great film but if you take your young child to see it be prepared for some not so up moments. The theatre was filled with happy, boisterous folks after the opening pixar short. About 15 minutes into the film you could have heard a pin drop. That is the power of this movie. (Trying not to be a spoiler here).
A lot of the power of this film will be lost on the very young. You have to be probably over 10 to really understand the meaning behind this film. However, there is plenty of silly fun for all ages to enjoy.
I thought this was a wonderfully, sweet, and moving film.

I was very impressed with the movie and it’s certainly worthy of the rave reviews it has been receiving. I wasn’t quite prepared for the (adult) emotional punches that the movie swings. There are some dark, grim, and sad elements to the movie that pack a surprising wallop for an animated feature---some of these themes were separation, loss, missed expectations, etc.---very mature themes that kids will not detect at all because of the slapstick and comedy (personally, I like the sci fi/fantasy genre not just because of the escapism---sometimes you don’t want to think about the rat race and challenges/harsh realities of life so it was kind of brutal---lots and lots of adults shedding tears in the theatre).

I took a group of 10 year old boys to see it. I was expecting something a little more entertaining with more humor. It was a nice story, but it was a little slow and sappy and probably geared toward an older crowd.

My 10 yr old daughter and I really enjoyed this movie...especially in 3D! We were just a little disappointed that the 3D wasn't "felt" more in the audience other than the magnificent aerial views. The story line was great and so heartfelt.

I take my grandkids to the movies all the time they are 8 and 3. They loved this movie. It had a little bit of everything in it happy, sad and love. If you did not like this movie I believe you missed the whole story line. I even took my dad who is 87 years and has Alzheimers. It was nice to see him happy about something. This movie was about love and determination. It was a funny movie and also a teaching movie for the kids and for the adults also.

My son (5 years old) really wanted to see this movie. I wasn't as interested but since he came along for the movies I wanted to see, I felt I owed him one. Plus, he's 5. Who can resist that! In any event, Up was better than I expected. Very funny in places, touching in others. All around, I'm extremely glad I went to see it. My son loved it. I think he giggled and laughed through the entire film. Definitely worth seeing for the whole family.

Although I would not think that a younger child, six and under, would fully enjoy the movie, I would still recommend this movie for children older than 6.
I went to see the movie with my grandkids, the two older ones enjoyed the film, my six year old did not like the film.

My 4 year old and I loved it! I laughed, I cried, we cheered we boo'd ... i cant wait for the DVD! The story was very unique, sad & so very sweet. My daughter was very into it.. I love the Pixar short preceeding it, cute & a great story as well.

"Up" is so WONDERFUL that I've just watched it in the cinema for the 2nd time in a week! The story of the old man is simple, but is told in a very touching way. When I was crying for the characters, I still feel joyful. "Up" is not sad, it's all about love, fantasy, and memory. That's why after watching it, I always feel like I cherish my lover and friends more and I view the world as a beautiful place.It's good for anyone of different ages to watch. Children would enjoy an exciting journey and fulfill their fantasies in "Up", and adults could find the purity of childhood and innocence we've lost. I regard "Up" as the best 2009 film at this moment. It contains the simplicity, subtlety and consciousness that you couldn't find in other films.

Great movie with a message. Grandkids 7,10 and 11 all liked different parts. What a miracle to find a movie for everyone!!!

I think the adults liked it more than the kids due to the underlying themes. I found the dogs a little scary. The reviews had my 7 year old grandson aprehensive about the bird for some reason. Would recommend it for familys.

"Up" was a wonderful film full of laughs & exciting action scenes. My 7 yr old loved it. But I have to warn adults that there is a montage in the beginning of the movie & a scene towards the end of it that will bring tears to your eyes 7 your children might ask why are you crying? The 2 scenes in question are very emotional but they set up the plot of the film & are essential to it's success. Another Pixar smash!!

This was the first movie I chose to take my 4yr. and 5yr. boys to see. I was worried about them not being able to sit through a movie at their age so hadn't taken them. THEY LOVED IT! Wish they would have handed out 3D glasses that would have been even more fun for the little ones.
