The Proposal is an excellent Romantic Comedy. It is predictable and not edgy by any stretch of the imagination but it is a good movie. If you enjoyed Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality and While You Were Sleeping then you will love this movie. I never liked Ryan Reynolds before this movie but he is actually charming in this movie. Betty White steals the movie with her performance as the wacky grandma.

This movie was well done, and the scenery in Alaska was beautiful. I enjoyed Bullock's comedic timing, but sometimes it seemed that Reynolds was struggling to keep up. The storyline gave way for many humorous moments, but the middle became a little long, slow-moving, and trite. Overall, I would like to give it 4.5 out of 5 stars, but the starts only work in whole numbers, so I gave it a 4.

I admit that I am a romantic comedy junkie, but I wasn't expecting to be so entertained as I was by The Proposal. The casting in this movie was perfect- Sandra Bullock was absolutely wonderful in the role and was only made better by the pairing with Ryan Reynolds. This movie is witty, funny, warm and charming through and through. I'll see it again.

This has all the ingredients: Strong leads with great chemistry that can pull off the light touch it takes for romantic comedy to work and a strong supporting cast that adds the right amount of flavor without getting in the way. Betty White was a great choice for the slightly nutty but lovable Gammy.

I wasn't expecting the chemistry between Bullock and Reynolds to be a good mix . . . I was WRONG. They were hysterical. Everybody involved got this one right . .. the acting, the clever script, the directing . . . All good and it won't disappoint. The guys in the theatre were laughing just as hard as the women. My friend and I have been waiting to see this because from the previews it looked great...yet we worried that it would be one of those movies where all the funny scenes are in the previews. WRONG! We saw it last night and laughed out loud the entire time! It's on of the best movies I've seen in a while. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone. I went to the sneak peak of this film with a friend and her mom and we thoroughly enjoyed the film! This movie is probably my favorite "chick flick" after seeing it. It's funnier than all the others, has beautiful locations, and Bullock and Reynolds work perfectly together on screen. Betty White also brings out quite a few laughs. The storyline isn't quite as simple as you'd expect from this genre, and you can actually see the progression of the feelings from the two main characters. LOVE IT!

I took my wife to The Proposal because I owed her a 'chick flick.' Light romantic comedy is never my first choice of a film. But I was drawn into the story and laughed my way from start to finish. The film was sexy, smart, the way it sets up 'the verses:' New York vs Alaska, MILF vs Boy Toy, Father vs Son, Big City Girl vs Country woman is first rate story telling. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds are both stars for a reason. Worth seeing on the big screen for the shots of Alaska alone.

Hysterically funny. The predominantly female theater was laughing the whole time. Even the few men who were dragged along seemed to enjoy it. Everyone walked out talking about how funny it was. I can't wait for it to be on DVD. Sandra Bullock has always been a long time fave of mine and was great. Ryan Reynolds is just too cute for words.

4 other moms and I went to see this for a girl's night out, we all laughed a lot and loved this movie. We all like Sandra Bullock, but weren't so sure about Ryan Reynolds...he did great!

Don't miss this one. The Alaskan scenery is beautiful, and the acting is superb. It kept me smiling from beginning to end. I usually go to the movies at least once a week, and haven't enjoyed one this much since Taken.
