I went to this movie expecting a light, romantic comedy. It delivered. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds performed well and Betty White was a real hoot. The humor was often related to sexuality but generally not in a raunchy way which is a relief compared to many of today's movies.

My girlfriend dragged me to see this movie on opening day, but after I walked out of the movie theater I realized I had actually enjoyed it. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock were hilarious, and the plot, although cliche and un-surprising, was enjoyful. The humor was better than expected and the director and producers did not forget about the husbands/boyfriends being dragged to the movie. Sandra Bullock was beautiful, Betty White's dialouge was side-splitting, and the underlying themes were a sigh of relief. Would I buy this movie of DVD? Yes. Would I recommend this movie? Yes.

Sometimes it is better to have low expectations of a movie. The Proposal was just that movie for me. My wife and I were looking for a escape date movie and decided to give Bullock and Reynolds a shot. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this film.
It was a fun movie. Granted it was formulaic. It was corny. There were no surprises. But it was fun.
Go see it and have a good time.

There is one thing, however, that does put a damper on this film: the ending. I suppose there is no neat way to wrap things up once once the plot inevitably leads to where it would. But all in all, the film is a pleasant diversion.

This movie will not win any Oscars, but it's the one you will tell everyone to go see. Laughs galore and a sub-plot about the importance of family that can never be repeated often enough. The chemistry between Bullock and Reynolds definitely works and the supporting cast was superbly selected. Betty White came within a inch of stealing the show -- not bad for an 87 year old! Steenbergen was dazzling (as always) and Nelson nailed it as the self-absorbed Dad. You will love this movie.

The Proposal was a very good movie, kept us laughing throughout & totally entertaining. My husband even said he wouldn't mind seeing it again. He VERY rarely says that about any movie. Sandra Bullock was very good, as was Ryan Reynolds. Betty White was a "stitch".

It was a very typical romantic comedy formula. That said, we laughed the entire movie. It was extremely entertaining and worht the money.

Simply the best movie I have seen in the past 10 years. A feel good feel happy movie. The story, the actors, the acting, the scenery, and the jokes were more than excellent.
