This movie was very well thought out and the biblical reasoning behind it made it even better. Denzel in one of his best, I wouldnt say his best compared to Training Day/ Man on Fire/ American Gangster.......Excellent movie though

Denzel Washington gave an excellent performance as this movie slowly revealed itself. A little bit of patience is necessary in the unveiling of such a beautiful story. This movie keeps your mind going throughout the entire process and even at the end.

1. Good moral teaching.
2. Heavy Christian overtones but still enjoyable for someone who is not a Jesus follower.
3. Lots of graphic violence without going over the top gory.
4. No porn/rape scenes. They could have gone there and didnt. Thanks

I was dissapointed, the action scenes were too sped up to be interesting or beleivable. The theme became obvious and hackneyed. The "twist" was unbelievable even with alowance for poetic license.

Don't read too many reviews. There are people that are trying to give away things you'll want to discover for yourself. This movie hits several pitch perfect notes. Good story. Good message. Lots to think about after the movie is over. Denzel played the role even better than it was written. Don't wait for the small screen. This deserves to be seen in theater in spite of there not being a lot wizbang CGI eye candy.

Wow, great acting, great movie and a suprise ending..loved it. Yes, the story had some missed a few issues, no water, yet they had fuel, weapons, and several other items that would have not. But all in all vey touching ending, and Denzel does it again!!

My friend actually wanted to watch Legion instead and I was like... lol, no. Five minutes into the movie she was like wow thank God we watched this instead. Denzel's acting was perfect. The story was captivating and the twist at the end was really interesting. Him being blind the whole time... Why didn't I notice that? Anyway the only thing that kind of a downer was that it was a St. James edition bible. I think Roman Catholic would have been more authentic since the Vatican is usually where angelic miracle etc. stories are at.

Don't listen to critics! Go see this movie. If you are any way spiritual you will get it and be moved. I struggle now with my "religious" side and found the movie comforting and hopeful. It has enough action and drama to keep your eyes and mind glued to the screen! Loved it!

I don't like gratuitous violence or language but this served a purpose. I think if the language could have been toned down and the message still conveyed it could have been PG 13 and so younger teens could have seen it. Great acting, great story, food for thought, excellent ending.

As a movie buff who was looking forward to this movie, what an extreme disapointment!
Denzel is usually a can't miss, but this storyline was laughable. Was this a spaghetti western set in the future with a dark overtone after the apocalyptic "war". There were so many holes in the story line it got to be a joke: (a shortage of water, but they had enough gas for the cars and armored car to hunt down Eli at Ma and Pa Kettles armored fortess and where did they get the gatlin gun and ammo?
I tried to keep an open mind, but this movie just kept taking turns into oblivion.
Mila Kunis, was completely miscast. Kept thinking of that 70's show or Sarah Marshall.
Waste of good actors!

Before going to see this film there were a lot of critics saying this movie was no good giving it 2 stars! After I saw it I must say I think they were smoking something hand rolled at home by them sprinkled with gun power. This movie rocks on so many levels. With action, photography, plot, and just the grit of it all, I must say see it, then see it again.

People who have seen this movie seem to like it lot. However, many critic have been extremely hard on it. Most say that Denzel turned in his expected great performance, but that the movie was poorly written. I agree that Denzel's acting was outstanding, but I disagree with critic on the quality of the movie, I think that it was great too. Do yourself a favor and see this movie and judge for yourself.

"The Book Of Eli" was nothing like I thought it would be. I heard such good things about the movie, I couldn't wait to go see it. It was a good movie but didn't have much for grabbing attention. It should have been more dramatic when you found out he was blind. The ending was obvious... let's hope there isn't a second one based on the girl's journey.

Book of Eli is a very different take on the genre of life in the aftermath of the extinction of our civilization. Actors were very well cast, since one cannot go wrong with heavyweight, classical phenoms such as Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman. I give credit to Mila Kunis for breaking away from her comedy repertoire. Fight scenes were crazy bad and reflected a need to preserve precious bullets in that world. Use of sepia tones was a great way to convey a colorless, stark and cruel world. My take on this film's message reminds us that religion and faith are part of humanity which can serve good or be abused for harmful purposes.

If you read Ezekiel 8:7-13 It in essence says The Lord showed Ezekiel a hole in the wall of the Temple; not a bar, not a house of prostitution but the Temple. In it were abominations that were unspeakable. So is this movie to be portrayed as biblical and inspiring when filled with filthy profanity and violence. Also to make the other books such as the Koran on the same level as the Bible is heresy as intimated in one of the last scenes. Denzel should be ashamed to be calling himself a Christian if he does so.

I hated the first 10 minutes of the movie. But then, I love animals... Once everything in the storyline started coming together, I changed my mind about the movie. The two leading actresses were great, and Denzel Washington was very good. I don't care for that much violence, but I did like the storyline, and the especially the ending.
