The beginning was not exactly my taste though I know that several people would disagree. The storyline was very real, the Bible is one of the most controversial topics around today which, in a sense, does make it "the most powerful book". The movie was protrayed very well, enough action and strangeness to keep the interest. The movie was about the journey of a man who had a special mission and all the obstacles that get in the way though some are reached and join in the mission.

Very good movie, good story line. Sat on the edge of our seats and didn't move. We did not think it was slow at all, hung on every word that was spoken. The ending (Book) was a surprise, we didn't see that coming.

The plot appears slow at first but is building background for the finale all the way through.
The culmination will have you thinking about the movie for a long time. This is a movie I will see agin on DVD I am sure.

A slow start to this film, but overall a strong performance by Denzel. I really like the twist at the end and the message this film brings at the conclusion. If you can stomach the violent scenes, I think it's worth seeing.

Denzel has a presence that cannot be denied on the screen. This movie, albeit a bit slow at times, is very strong and very creative. What starts to feel like a MadMax re-do ends up with a message and, unlike most "post-apocalyptic" movies, an ending with hope. And, a big surprise at the end, which I will not give away. This movie and Denzel's performance (he's one of those actors that don't feel like they're acting), will ramble through your brain and your gut for days. It gets better the more you think about it, until you decide you can't wait for it to come out on DVD to watch it again. Don't miss it.

Really enjoyed Denzel's acting! Gary Oldman was as usual, a great villian! The story line is very thought provoking. It was shot very well with great eary music. A few violent moments but for the most part its about the story, not the violence. Love the older couple they meet in their travels! Great ending! I recommend!

The Book of Eli was beautiful and deeply moving. Everyone in it was excellent. I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone see this film. It's absolute genius. Just be sure to believe the rating--it truly is brutally violent. If you can handle that, you'll love the movie.

Overall, this was a great movie! My daughter saw it before me and I'm glad she told me that he was blind before the "flash", or I might not have gotten that. While it was violent, it was not as bad as I expected. I thought it was handled well and I have definitely seen alot worse. Really good message!

Filled with a few twists, Denzel Washington delivers a character with post apocolyptic fervor against those who would twist the truth. "..we had too much, didn't realize what was precious.." Where the director could have dwelled on the atrocities of the age or sexual exploits, he allowed for glimpses of the darkness, allowing relationships to develop & heighten a hope for humanity: a 30 yr quest on WA's character with Godly interevention/leading--the "Do Over" exists.

We were searching for a movie to go to in Orlando on this rainly gloomy day. We picked Legion but the user reviews were quite bad. We found Book of Eli's reviews very helpful. This was a pretty good movie. It was like you normal apocolyptic flick in some ways, but with a very different twist that was quite refreshing. Denzel and Gary were great in it.
