Denzel is of course excellent, that's to be expected, but Gary Oldman's performance was very good as well. Which helped a movie that moved slowly in places but overall was attention keeping for the most part.

When I read the description of the movie last night, as I was Googling movie titles, I stopped at this one because the name of the movie reminded me about the names of the Bible. Was amazed at the underlying message of this movie. It put things in perspective. We take many things for granted. We are not thankful for what we have. But most importantly we forget why we are here. The persistence of Eli to accomplish his mission, is to be admired and mirrored. There is a bit of foul language but in the world we live in its in abundance. Violence happens throughout the movie, but we live in a violent world. You will like this movie. I know I enjoyed it.

In the world of cookie cutter movies that roll off the Hollywood assembly line, "The Book of Eli" stands a movie apart with its original plot/story line, excellent use of story telling elements, great acting, and mood. Why go see this movie? Because its message is not skin deep like most movies nowadays. Because you need to hear what it has to say. Because this movie asks some questions that you need to answer... that this entire generation needs to answer. Why see this movie? Because it will grip you intellectually, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually, and not let you go. That's what movies were meant to do.

This was the best post-apocalyptic movie I've seen in a while. Not over-done, and a great central plot that tied everything together. The only complaint I had was that it moved a little slow in a couple of spots, but regardless, it was well worth watching.

Good movie. I was way impressed. Couple of plot twists I didn't expect, and an outstanding turn of events for the ending. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I would certainly recommend going to see it !

this movie made you stop and think about your life, how precious the word of God is and how we take it for granted. Yes it was violent, but so is our world for less important reasons,we kill because we don't like someone, or they cut us off in traffic, He was on a mission for God, Good job, he didn't kill for the sake of killing, We are heading for an end of life as we know it hopefully we will be ready, with the right priorities

An awesome, action-packed movie! Very well written script with excerpts from the Bible. If you don't believe what the Bible says, you ought see this movie. "ELI" accurately shows what WILL happen years after the rapture of believers. Desolate lands, famine, and mainly lawlessness will prevail. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No other way around it. Just believe and accept Jesus as your personal Savior. Look up Romans 10:9-10. Remember, Jesus loves you!

It's a breath of fresh air to have a movie like this.Denzl Washington delivered an Oscar performance again. The movie held my attention from beginning to end. The theme teaches a lesson. You don't appreciate what you've got until it's gone. When it's gone it would be too late to try to get it back. You have to start over again to try to get back what is lost.

From beginning to the end, this film lives up to all of the hype. It is not a disappointment. It was well scripted, directed, cast, and performed. Truly a testament to the resolve of the human species, and the expanse of how awesome God truly is. A must see for Denzil Washington fans!

This was a very surprising film. I went with the expectation that most of what the trailer showed was the movie. But to my surprise there was a really good plot that led to a surprising ending. This is one that you have to see again to notice the "little things" that you miss the first time.

I am a fan of sci-fi and action movies, and picked this movie based on the fact that its based on a post-apocalypse era. A slight spoiler alert : The book of eli is better titled 'the bible', however since many non-religious people might be turned away by such a title, they named it 'the book of eli'. There is some action and interesting characters in the movie that keep one entertained, and there are some interesting dialouges that make you think and reflect on life and on the value of natural resources. Its a watchable movie if you ignore some of the scenes that make no common sense (like many other hollywood movies). Its just an average movie, If you have no other choice, you can watch this one.

Denzel does good work, as usual. I wasnt blown away. I didn't like the "gray" colorizing but thats the artsy fartsy part of it. I would give it a 3.5 ...action was good but the film lost something with me. Nice story twist in the end.

For an action packed trip to post apocalyptic US of A. Some one pushed the "button" and Eli is the only one who can save the last book. Believable bad guys, plausible fight scenes and a non stop journey to the promised land.
