This is one of the best movies I have seen in a while. It was entertaining, yet thought provoking. Would I go to any lengths to carry out something that I know looks, sounds, and is crazy because I believe in what I was told? Even the villian knew the enormous power of the word of God. The performances were outstanding, extremely well written script, and just enough action to keep you drawn into Eli's world. I will see it again!

This was a typical post apocalyptic movie. I happen to like them. I love Denzel and while I admit it was not his best movie, I liked it. It had a lot of action and it kept me interested. I especially liked it because I could not guess the ending, which if you are an avid moviegoer like I am, it's hard to stump me. The end or at least an element of it was a complete surprise. I think the ending could have been a ittle bit better as far as the other characters went, it was hard to guess their motivation. All in all I'd give it a 4 out of a 5.

Everyone please DO NOT BELIEVE the critics who say that this movie is not worth watching. These are the same critics who get paid to tell you a bad movie is good. Don't believe their hype. This is story telling at its best. The Hughes Brothers did an excellent job directing. As always, Denzel Washington delivered. Mila Kunis did her job, and I see" A List" star potential for her in the near future. The ending will blow your mind away. The is a must see.

I was concerned after reading several critic reviews but decided to see for myself based on the veteran acting credentials of Washington. Glad I relied on that reasoning because the movie took full advantage of Washington's skills in a variety of advanced acting situations. Kunis also impressed me. The story gathered momentum in just enough time to keep my interest then had a couple of excellent twists that allowed me to leave very satisfied.

I liked this movie as well as the other two people who went with me. Dezel was a great in his role as Eli and Mila Kunis was suprisingly great too. I recommend this movie, slow to get into but turns out to be a good film overall.

This movie was awsome, I was kind of wondering what was going on in the begining, but this is one of those movies that keeps you intereted until you find out whats going on. Denzel was great and so was Gary Oldman. Left me wanting more!

What a surprise. The movie had lots of action; and the acting was superb. What I didn't expect and found agreeable was the thought provoking ending.

Even though the movie The Book of Eli, started out slow, it ended on an inspirational note. Denzel Washington was superb in his character of Eli, whom was called by God 30 years ago to complete a task. The religion undertone to the movie was mild, but effective in delivering the movie's message. If you belive in God, u would appreciate The Book of Eli, because it covers the theme we hear over and over again in church, which is: a simple man receiving a call from God and of God's protection of that man through all obsicles until his task has been completed. This is a must see.

This was a very good movie. It wasn't exactly action packed but, to see old Denzel playing Hard to Kill and kicking butt was fun and funny. I must say, I thought i was watching I am Legend at first. Overall this was a good movie. I will buy the DVD.

The movie is pretty depressing...why is it always the brute and the corrupt that tends to survive armageddon? Denzel did a good job although I kept getting transported to his "Training Day" character so the movie wasn't as believable to me.

When I originally saw the trailer for this movie I was slightly confused yet intrigued. Upon seeing the movie I understood why I was intrigued. While the move starts off slow and sort of confusing as it unfolds the plot deepens and the true meaning behind the movie begins to show its' self. Both my husband and I got different things from this movie however arrived at the same inspirational feeling after leaving the movie theater. We both felt a sense of awareness of our surroundings and tend to treasure what we have now more then ever. I NEVER thought a movie could have such a deep impact on the soul.

The movie is entertaining and has a Mad Max feel. The story is good with some interesting plot twists. This is not what I would call a "Christian" movie but it is a movie that shows how God preserves his word and how important it is to mankind. Most significantly it shows how He calls people to do and accomplish His will. Scripture is recited, prayer is shown and the "Golden Rule" is what Eli seems to learn from the Bible. This is not a family movie and the R rating is well-earned with lots of gory violence and harsh language. Overall I liked the movie and appreciate the boldness to demonstrate the importance of God's word.

I originally had no interest in seeing this film, but my son talked me into it. It did start out slow and violent so I continued to question why I had agreed to go. However, when the point to the movie became clear it was really quite moving. By the time the movie was over I was inpired once again to look for the greater good that be completely disallusioned by man.

Love this movie. It was hard to watch initially because it starts off bleak and violent, but as the story unfolds and you begin to understand the purpose for the journey, it becomes deeply impacting. Loved the ending. Watched it twice and got even more out of it the second time.

'The Book of Eli' was not as good as I had expected from the trailers, but was fairly good none the less. It started out dreary and slow, but got better as hidden information was revealed as the story progressed. At the end of the revelation process though, I was left with a feeling of 'what's the point?'. It is, however, a highly stylized type of film, which I find enjoyable.

"I thought this movie was good. " Being a believer, I related to his faith mission and his determination to complete it. The ending was also relatable in that he did need the book to complete his mission because the Word was in him. But on the whole the movie was missing something. It was as if the beginning was missing and the ending wasn't properly completed. I would recommend my friends wait for the DVD.

I thought this movie was very good. "Mad Max"ish , yes but beng a Believer, I related with him protecting and keeping the Word of God especially IN him at the end. The Bible and Christians in general are under great persecution these days and it is refreshing to see the Hudson Bros, take such a stand! Excellent!!!

I expected more...a good not great movie... with a great twist at the end. Denzel was very good... Overall, the move was a bit too much "Mad Max" for me... the Mad Max perception of a post-apocalyptic future seems to be such a cliché...wish it had been done another way. Also, I could not figure out the necessity for the movie to continue past Eli dictating the bible... Why was it necessary for the last segment to occur other than to set up a sequel? All in all, it was an good night at the movies...but there are better ones out there this year.

A story about the American landscape 30 years in the future after worldwide nuclear war and a man walking the west with the last known copy of a bible. Where older people are rarely seen alive, Denzel Washington as Eli tries to survive and keep his bible out of the hands of those that don't deserve to have it.
Denzel does a remarkable job effortlessly killing any who stand in his way. Gary Oldman is great as he plays a ruthless leader of a degenerate town. Lots of action and violence with a strong moral story. Highly recommended but not for the squeamish.
