Completely Wonderful! This movie does not disappoint. I can't say enough positive things about it. I'm not one to see movies in theaters more than once, but I think I'm going back to this one. Denzel is great and like you've never seen him before. In a word...Inspirational.

I saw this movie with my two teenage sons and all of us were enthralled. As we were leaving, we asked each ofher what they thought and it was unanimous, we loved it. There was enough action to keep them entertained and enough drama and suspense to keep me glued. The end was a Wow that amazed all of us. There was a religious feel to it that gave believers a warm glow but I am sure the theatre contained some that were not true believers and they did not have any problems with the Biblical references. I would pay to see it again, it was that good.

Denzel of course is just sensational. I love him and I would see him in any movie. I know that I am spending my money on quality when I see Denzel Washington. I have always loved him. He plays a fantasic and amazing role in Eli. I know that Denzel had to feel honored to play in this movie because he is a believer just as I am. We love the Lord and we believe in the word of the one and only true living God, JESUS CHRIST. This was a great way to get the word of God out there to tell the world. 5 stars to the producer, writer ,director, and to the wonderful Denzel Washington.

Good versus Evil, this movie is thought provoking. Incredible is the word I will use to best describes "The Book of Eli"! If you know anything about God no matter what you choose to all Him this is the movie to see. What can I say Denzel Washington is a phenomenal actor.

Denzel is a real Lone Wolf and nails this character! And the Hughs Brothers create a desolate world in which he must survive and bring change.
Gary Oldman is brillant! I love it when he plays a villian! Mila Kunis added the cuteness and humor that this story needed. Not to mention she is beautiful to watch.
There's a good message in this one too. And a twist at the end that even got me!Remember "Ghost Dog" with Forrest Whitaker? Well, this one takes the Black Samurai to another level!

....and that's a good thing! Denzel Washington expands his considerable acting range once again and shows us why he has long been and still is a top tier American Movie Actor! This movie is a post-apocalyptic epic, visually stunning in it's sepia toned cinematography, filled with interesting characters, pulsating with mystery, energetic in it's message of hope .... and ever-engaging thanks largely to Washington's enigmatic & charismatic portrayal of the nomadic, driven, chosen main character .... Eli. A stirring film. Kudos to all involved. Some will "get it" more than others - and that's okay! Get in your car, drive to the nearest cineplex and see The Book of Eli in-theater ASAP!

Best movie of the new year. I am a Denzel fan and this movie does not disappoint---this is Denzel Washington at his finest. The movie is the kind that will stick with you and make you think for a long time. Several plot twists that we did not see coming. It makes me feel glad that there are those in Hollywood not afraid to stand up for the beliefs. Will be buying this on bluray when it come out.

It was just another rapture movie with a super powered zealot. Or is he supposed to be some warrior messiah? Yea that's what the world needs more of, a divine quest from god to deliver religion to a distant land while slaying abundant infidels on the way- with a scimitar, of course! Meanwhile, the most attractive woman remaining on earth follows him around like a dog after a bone. And if anyone touches his book he gets all irritable. Was it because they had unclean hands? I gave this film 3 stars for being average in the religious genre but took off 1 star for lack of an obvious ending with 72 virgins.

This is another case where a movie was portrayed as an action packed adrenaline adventure but is nothing like that. While it does have some rather stunning action scenes, they are quick, to the point and make you say "wow" when they need to. The story is slower than what most will expect, but I liked it because they spent that time well on showing you the tortured world of the characters. The ending premise of the movie is spectacular and actually makes you think over the movie, wanting to see it again to take it all in, while the last scene of the movie left me feeling a little cheated. This movie is a great watch but just don't go in expecting what you think, and you will be pleased as I was.

A friend and I were torn between seeing The Book of Eli or Legion. Both movies opened the same night and both looked very good. We chose Eli based on the fact it had actors whio we know to be excellent. Unfortunately, for me that didn't pan out to it being the best choice. Although, I still need to see Legion to know if it's was any better or worse.
I found The Book of Eli to be slow moving and just boring. There were some graphic fight scenes, which don't necessarily intrigue me, but beyond that it just wasn't very interesting at all. Would I recommend this movie to other people - no. I would tell them don't waste your $11.00 wait for it to come out on dvd and even then I'm not sure it's worth it.

where to start... at first I didn't understand what the movie was about before walking into the theater. Once I sat down the story line pulled me in and wouldn't let go until the movie finished. If you pay attention you may be able to catch on to the religious message and understand how / why everything is the way it is. hands down i can't wait for the DVD release

I should have known it was another Christian Supremist movie. Just another rehashing of the end of the world/ being rescued by a new mesiah-Road Warrior/Jesus type. Oh yes, the book that lead to the wars that desgtroyed the planet will save us and the long suffering, righteous good guy. Such an old, tired plot. I was just killing time and I have to say, my time certinly was "killed" in this dog of a quasi-sci fi movie. If you want a much better "end of the world" movie, see The Road. No rockets or "pretty girls". Just a big, nasty dead mess.

High-quality acting from Denzel Washington as he and follower Mila Kunis blaze a dark and bloody trail through a post-apocalyptic gang wasteland, to deliver the last surviving copy of the Bible to the "Promised Land". I would have preferred the ending to be more like "The Postman" but it leaves the possibility of a sequel. Rated R for violence.

Brilliantly shot, Music fit the landscape and the script was well done. The Hughes Brothers really put together a good film. Plenty of action done in a whole new way, and a brand new take on religion. Still in shock over the quality of sound and cinematography.
